Its being shown on CBS which has not shown a live fight since 1990 (this being the history side of things unfortunately)


Looks like a 2 round hammering of a blown up lightweight will be dished out.


Im fairly peed off at this and Oscar along with GBP have gone right down in my estimations.


Could of AT LEAST stuck him in with a live LMW.

Unfortunate but true

Fans seem to give Top Rank and Arum a really hard time for in house fighters facing one another, GBP are every bit as bad if not worse.

A dreadful matchup, thank god for Chavez Jnr v Martinez on the same night.

Awful awful fight for as long as it lasts, isn't really a test for Alvarez, they had to get an opponent fairly fast but could surely have found a 154lb contender to fight instead of a light welterweight living off one punch.

lopez was always going to get a big fight soon, promoters are too opportunist to miss an opportunity of an easy fight like this, that can be sold because of some of the publicity lopez has recieved

After Canelo takes him to the cleaners, people will compare it with Ortiz and call it a great win for Canelo.

To be fair most people were pretty happy with Ortiz v Alvarez, GBP will probably be thinking Lopez has every right to have the fight.

Although the fact that Lopez was talking of moving back down to LWW after Ortiz means its pretty ridiculous. Fair play to Lopez though deserves the pay day imo.

Although will probably be such a stinker of a fight that CBS will not be showing another fight for about 20 years after it either.

Ortiz on paper did look like a really good fight but it wouldn't if Ortiz was first choice

Lopez deserves a shot as he beat Ortiz but was quite lucky and deserves the shot at a welterweight champion not a LMW champ

I can just about let this one slide as to be fair he was around 5th choice opponent and can't really blame Saul for that.

Though just means the pressure is majorly on for a big fight afterwards.

Just glad the over rated Lara isn't getting a shot. At least Lopez has a credible win under his belt.

Yeah you are right. Watching a blown up 140 pounder get hospitalized is MUCH better than a bonified 154 pounder.

But Lopez can't physically make 154 or come close, he weighed in 144 vs Ortiz

Well Lopez fought a great fight and made a fool out of the Ortiz, so I don't see the problem with letting him trade places. He will put up a better fight that Ortiz thats for sure.

Lara is over rated and struggled with Hernandez, a guy who got blew out by Berto in 1 round. He hasn't won a meaningful fight to date so yea, im happy with Lopez who has a better win on his record to date that the terminator...sorry Lara.
