Federer's another unique record
Federer becomes the first player to become no.1 in various era's
i.e like
1]Weakest era 2000-2004
2]Weaker era 2004-2008
3]Stronger era 2008-2010
4]Strongest era 2011 onwards
Of course I didn't determine any era its determined by some knowledgeable posters , but one thing for sure now they making Fed legacy look even better.
Just to add Pat Cash famously said unless Fed has to prove his legacy by winning some against young guns, here he just not win some he won some big. Poor Pat Cash.

Re: Federer's another unique record
Happily most of the 'era' believers have gone their separate ways since the death of the original 606.
But you make a very good point ic. I remember all the tired old talk that was trotted out ad nauseam about how Federer's time was well past, that he was not fit to compete in the same league as the new young guns blah blah blah. Federer was apparently no longer relevant in the age of Nadal and Djokovic.
How inconvenient for his arch critics that at different times during the past 3 years he has pushed each of them back to number 2.
Mind you I'm hardly above reproach myself. It was just a couple of weeks or so ago I was telling anyone who would listen that Fed's Slam-winning days were almost certainly behind him ........
Roger, I beg forgiveness ......
ps.... I'd best not get started on Pat Cash ! A champion is always a champion, fair enough. But boy can he come out with some utter dross, year in year out

Re: Federer's another unique record
lol...I think of 2001-2003 as Transitional Era...then we have the Federer/Nadal era to about 2010...then Djokovic era since...but...its all going Pete Tong and reverting back to Federer era again with a bit of Nadal and abit of Djokovic...whats going on!!!
Era...schm'era...
PS> Cash isnt a champion, he only won 6 titles for pity's sake - one of which just happened to be Wimbledon! (must still haunt Lendl that loss)
He can never dodge the fact he lost a match to Nadal when Rafael was just 14 years old...

Rosewall was in Top 10 for 12 years. Federer can do it too, and then some more.

I reckon Impartial_Lion and his alter ego's will still be discussing Federer's weak era 20 years after he's retired, like a moth to a flame they know they'll get taught a lesson but can't help themselves.

Small correction JM, crying instead of discussing
