He's also had nowhere near as many fights and kept a 0 for so long.

Im not a fan of what Haye did by any stretch of the imagination...but your seriously expecting a guy who not only had a few to drink but is by nature is a physical lad...and a boxer to not look after himself if he feels threatened...
If so you are incredibly naive.
How many people were between Haye and Chisora when he lifted the tripod and swung it? Maybe 10. In a pub you would get arrested for that level of violence.
Haye stood his ground that night, he could have walked away. It became an ego thing with neither wanting to be seen to back down. Typical playground psychology that only happens between kids or idiot hard men.
I have seen trained fighters walk away from fights. They have nothing to prove and don't need the hassle. It's kind of like a code as I said.

Haye gassed to easily
Vitali would ko him mid to late rounds. Haye's stamina issues have not improved.

It was all hangbags strongy. So what if he threw the tripod at Dave Cameron. No harm done and a great fight came out of it. £3m to Haye and £1.5m to Del. Great promo for a fight. Perhaps K2 can do something to make a ripple anywhere. Those #insert John Terry insult# are killing boxing.

I agree it isn't needed and I dont condone it....
But lets face it...75% of boxers come from violent, tough, rough neighbourhoods. Their upbringing is erratic and often what we would class a good manners/behaviour etc is often not taught on them.
It's more the fact that everyone kind of got hung up on but in reality did we really expect less than what occured...
As you said it was a macho/ego thing...
Just surprises me how so many people got on their pedastal about it.
The fact is that the sport that we CHOOSE to enjoy and watch contains many people whose life before they stepped into the ring was a far different one to that which many of us fans enjoy....so when something like this does happen, for me at least, it doesn't surprise me to the point I lose all reasonable thoughts and follow the crowd of ban them for life etc etc...
I have seen and heard of much worse incidents in boxing than what occured in Munich....
Again I will re-iterate I dont condone what they did and think they should of been punished however they werent and that isnt the fault of the fighters but the authorities involved....i choose to just not get hung up on it as much as others seem too

I wouldn't say he was gassing...
Blowing yes but then again he can be a bit like that. Seems exhausted but isn't.
He was still moving very well on his feet and his punches were as crisp and sharp as they were in the first.
Think people will read into anything to discredit the win or bring about weaknesses that they think would expose him should he step in with Vitali.
It was a good win by Haye...against an average opponent and nothing more...however he did to that average opponent what no one else has and what one of the two best Heavyweights in the world couldnt do.
What did surprise me tonight was the use of that Jab by Haye...which he has neglected for much of his tenure up at Heavyweight.
Never quite understood why he stopped using it because whilst it isn't dominant like either of the brothers or for that matter Price's...it allows him to set up that uppercut/check right combo.

As someone who watches boxing I have my favorites and villains. Haye is a villain but not in the Ali or even Naz sense of the word because there is very little humor involved. Haye and Booth make the assumption that the fans are idiots and hope they can talk their way into anything. It works to an extent but let's face it the big fight tonight in the world wide boxing scene iinvolves Khan who really is big time. Khan has done it with his fists.
So Haye to me is the villain, a role he is happy to play, but I think he is very disingenuous and for want of a better word ugly. When he takes on one of the Klitschko's I will be watching and hoping he gets taught a lesson.

Buncey mentioned it. But I saw no evidence of it. Yes he had slowed down a tad, but that is to be expected given the pace they went at it. He was slower that at the first round but not that slow.
He showed good stamina and threw more punches in the first round that is the whole Valuev fight.
Great fight and wonderful advert for boxing.

BS. They are playing the game and his purse shows that the fans love it.

But you cant purely judge him on stuff like that and not look at other things he says....did you miss the build up to this fight?...If you go back and watch some of it you will see Haye admitting that his toe excuse was poor and that he never delivered on the night etc.
You can have your opinion on what you think of him of course...but dont just weight up one side of the argument.
In recent times where boxers have used loaded gloves....stepped into the ring with the use of PED's etc....David Haye and what he has said comes in very low on the 'ugly chart' in comparison.
Like I said the man can be an absolute clown and some of the outlandish stuff he says is both ugly and cringe....but as far as im concerned and from what I have seen in person...it's a facade to sell fights.
It's funny that we judge boxers so quickly and are quick to lament poor/violent behaviour.....yet if you step back you would realise you are a fan of the sport...and that sport is BOXING!!!....Given the type of characters who choose boxing as a way of life it makes me laugh that people expect so much from them all the time...
As for your comment about evenly matched....Im pretty sure i didnt say it was...
In fact I said class shows and that people had bought into the hype that Del Boy actually had a chance. I have said in plenty of threads in the build up that Haye is in another league to Derek.....Read my posts better in future...or if you cannot be bothered to read them then dont bother posting about them!
And if Haye had come into the a dying division all timid and pleasent much like Vitali and Wlad then it would still be of no interest to anyone. As it was he brought casual fans back to the division in droves....made everyone a ton of money and got the division its best exposure since Lennox Lewis....
I agreed with you that the fight was never evenly matched.
I don't believe the casual fan is that enamoured by Haye. He has burned them with the Audley and Wlad fights after all. Haye has not made the impact or money Ricky Hatton did who used the cheeky chappy routine to much better effect than any of the promotional tools Haye has used.
Haye has made more money that Hatton. Had less fights too.

not suprised in the slightest with the result, chisora is average at best and thats average british standard. while haye is world level just well below wlad.
if people are having a go at haye for stamina i hardly see a well past it vitali pushing him!!

Didn't think Haye was blowing, they said he was breathing with his mouth open so may have damaged his nose early.

Haye fights with his mouth open, just like Lennox Lewis used to. Very much doubt it's a stamina thing.

Anyone watch the undercard fight with Spike O'Sullivan? He seemed to box fairly well and he looked like a deserved winner. 15 undefeated and now WBO international middleweight! Congrats to the Corkman!
