The Leicester Tigers thread
First topic message reminder :
2012/3 may well prove to be a memorable one.
For once, there seems to be (albeit not unplumbable) strength in depth, a fairly healthy squad and a straightforward, uncomplicated international season.

Define proper league? Is that most wins or most bonus points?
If it's most bonus points then Tigers win that competition every single time.

Thank you for making that thread for my benefit. The answer is yes. Fair enough. Not surprised you have that opinion.
As a concept I don't mind bonus points but would cut the losing bonus point to having to be within 5 points.

Re: The Leicester Tigers thread
In considering a 'BP league' it's worth noting whether those points were for scoring or losing, one clearly less prestigious than the other, obviously requiring losing to claim it's lower hanging fruit and without the balance of showing who got the the more traditional league points on offer that the full points league table qualify it with.

Re: The Leicester Tigers thread
A number if our players look knackered. Matt Tait isn't one of them, he's on fire.
Would like to see the Harrison/Ford combo come on at half time along with Waldrom just to freshen things up a tad. I'm just glad Parling, Tom and Crofty have all been given a break.

Hope not. Decent pre-season, including rest is probably good for him. Given that we have 3 decent full backs playing England and none of them probably going on Lions it's unlikely

Foden is miles off form and should be nowhere near an England shirt. Think he needs to show more continued form if he wants to leapfrog Goode and Brown though.

If I was a Leicester supporter, I`d want him to have a decent pre-season. As an England supporter, I want him on tour. He covers wing, centre and full-back. With Delon Armitage off in France, we don`t have another player with that mix of skills right now.

Thompstone just went over for a try. Having crossed at the corner, he then ran around to make for an easier conversion. He was off-balance, though, and his feet danced dangerously close to the dead ball line. The ref called for a TMO review but he just stayed in.

Blimey, Elliot Daly looks very useful. You could make up a complete England back-line out of full-backs right now.
9. Foden
10. Goode
11. Brown
12. Tait
13. Daly
14. Monye (Ok, a bit of a stretch)

Substitute May for Monye and I'm with you. Though i'd toy with moving Bendy to wing and Brown to f/b. I just think that Abendanon's skill-set is perfect for the wing

Slater will definitely be touring to Argentina, another class game against Wasps. At the moment he's looking like he should be starting for England alongside Parling, gives a bit more balance to the engine room as well taking out a little athleticism a bringing a whole load more power.

Hound, should probably ask this outside of the Tiggers thread but are Wasps signing up new forwards? As to me that's where you really need it, loads of ball runners but no real muscle to work in tight at the moment.

yappy - Matt Mullan is the biggest 'name' we have signed as a forward. Most of our signings have been backs (e.g. Goode and Carlisle) to cover the loss of Stephen Jones (retiring) and Nicky Robinson (off to Bris).

Can't see it being an issue, Tigers have brought Tait back from the brink of retirement and given his career a much needed boost. Tait is starting to look capable of taking over from Geordan. Shouldn't be any complications as both sides need the other.

It might have escaped your notice that Wasps were missing 7 usual starters through injury (2 of whom have captained this season) and needed to rest Launchbury and Masi, who were knackered.
Losing Robinson and Wade early in the game didn't help either.
We were expecting nowt from that game, given the team we put out. Watching on the box I was pleased that our decimated pack won two scrum penalties.
A phyrric victory I know but.

That young TH Taylor seems to have something about him. Should be a keeper.
Wasps team on the day was pretty weak and the game was therefore a formality. We'll see if that gamble pays off next week.

Re: The Leicester Tigers thread
Yeah Sam. While Dai Young cited a number of injuries, it was the weakest team we have fielded outside of the LV= and Mogliano in the Amlin.
Was this weekend one of the EPS mandatory rest weekends. It used to be that EPS players could only play 120 minutes over 3 stipulated weekends. It might explain why we rested Launchbury (Masi deserved a week off anyway) and Croft and Parling were absent too?
I can't believe that would be the case at the business end of the season though - i.e. hampering play off/HC ambitions.
PS - great b*lls shown by Tigers in Toulon. Definitely had the 'moneybags' rattled. Disappointed for you guys last weekend. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Re: The Leicester Tigers thread
Ta. Croft was only 50/50 as was Tom Youngs, as soon as Wasps announced their squad Tigers decided it wasn't worth the risk. Worth resting Parling as well, Kitchener is a good 5 and needed some game time. Subbing the likes of Benny and Cole early made sense. Good to get Mafi 40 mins as well.
Really helped us Wasps targeting the Chiefs. There must have been a lot of bruises after the brave defence against Toulon.
