What does everyone make of it?

I can't imagine it'll be a success, the humour never really struck me as very American.

Why didn't they just buy the british version off channel 4 instead of quite literally copying it in every detail.

It's being written by the same guys, hence why the jokes are all the same.

Well presumably the Americans wanted them to keep it the same as they don't want to buy a TV show only to have all the things changed. A lot of the jokes are also based on events in their own life, so that's why they use them.
It's obviously not for anybody who has seen the English version, as not much will have changed. Really they should have just bought the rights to the English one, as it would have been cheaper and I doubt most viewers really care about the fact that the accents are different and the school system is different.

Didn't go to well did it? The first two episodes are on E4 tonight from 10, I might have a look to see how poor it is.

I don't think it's that bad to be honest. If you consider it in it's own right, with no knowledge of the UK series then it's a decent show. The biggest gripe I have with it is the happy 'we're all best friends' of it.
But the UK Series is obviously better. No question.

Re: The Inbetweeners - US
I watched it, thought is was not that awful but not as good as the UK one clearly.
I was amused by the fact that the E4 voiceover guy basically introduced it sarcastically and made niggly comments about it on every break. Never seen a TV channel slag off it's own programming before, haha.

Very difficult to consider it in its own right when the characters are exactly the same and their storylines very similar.

Its already been cancelled in the US back in early Nov so won't be seeing much of it regardless of how you found it.
