First topic message reminder :

well after the terrible frustrating long ball defend defend mcleash season ,villa have now a good prospect in Paul Lambert . when Martin oNeil left i was at first gutted like many villa fans but then when u add up all the average players he bought along with high wages then u can see why learner decided enough was enough .so Martin walked out . next come along gerard houllier a few weeks late in the season . lots of villa fans didnt take to him because of the early results but i liked the way we played under him and when he bought Darren bent and the players settled in his style of play we rocketed up the league .even beating Liverpool in revenge after that 4 nil beating and his infamous badly chosen words that didnt sit well with villa fans .poor health parted another manager . then come Alex .no more needs to be said on that . so now we have Paul . a few good signings come in and i for one now feels we can compete in cup games and perhaps a eighth position in league .

Would say Keane defiantly having an effect on the team.
Probably better as a no2.

Team spirit seems to be good.
Benteke back soon.

Arsenal, Chelsea up next.
Lets see what we can do.

we have officially got the best defence in the entire leagues .only letting in one goal is fantastic but only scoring four is a worry when considering chelsea above us have scored 15 . about time our wingers and midfield players get into the action and score a few .

It would be great if we could score more goals, but its not going to happen.

Quite rare for us to beat teams 3/4 0.
The 6-1 against Sunderland few seasons back was great.

As long as we are winning I don't care if its just 1-0's.

As you say, would like to see midfield chip in with a few more.

Hope the good form can continue against the gooners tomorrow.

4 minutes of madness and 3 goals later gave us our first league defeat of the season . glad we didnt fold in the second half . we still 3rd but with chelsea and man city next can't really see us being there for long . Benteke back and hopefully he hit the ground running .

Great to see the big man back and scoring.

Played 63 mins in the u21's.

Will probably be on the bench saturday.

Hope he gets a bit of a run out, maybe not over do it.

Spurs home sunday

We passed it round well last night, just no end product.
Spurs are coming off a home loss.

Interesting game. I hope last night's result puts a spark under them and they go out and perform.

Tired of losing. Also tired of losing to Spurs. Lets get a goal and then the win.

You vs Spurs could be a belter of a match though.

Fair play to QPR in fairness.

Austin took his goals well.

Yun at left back looked decent.

Just disappointed we didn't get something out of the game.

Still only 9 games gone. Plenty of time to turn it round.

Glad to see Cole score on saturday.

Again cant hold onto a lead.
Am off to Selhurst Park tomorow.

Would I take another point before hand. Yes.
Then hoping for 3 against Leicester.
Draw against the Baggies.

With these 4 games, that would give us 6 out of 12 points.

Would probably have taken that before saturday.
Then again, we may lose the next 3.

Tekkers is back from suspension, hope he worked on his fitness.

Need him to start banging in the goals.

Sung that on tuesday at Palace. In fairness all the singing was about Benteke.
Brother was at West Ham game few weeks ago, they sung it then.

Didn't hear it in august for Newcastle game, so must be quite new.

Just had a quick read on new signing Carles Gil.

Can play on either wing and centre mid,only 22.

Good luck to him, hope he can help the team in our battle against the drop. Maybe chip in with a few goals.

Something of a low today. With Chelsea to follow on Saturday I suspect we have not took our medicine just yet. Can Lambert survive another hiding and yet another game without a goal? There genuinely does not seem a desire at the top to get rid of him, but suspect the atmosphere will be absolutely poisonous should we concede early Saturday, which we almost inevitably will!

Very poor today. Only positives, the return of Delph and Gil.

After this hammering the last team we ant to be playing is Chelsea.
Could have done with a team around us.

15 games to go, plenty of time to turn it round, am sure the goals will come, there is goals in the team. Created a couple of chances today.

Gil look the business. Hopefully Delph can find his form.
Benteke needs to aswell.

We need to cut out those stupid mistakes we make all to often.

I'm keeping the faith. I just cant imagine Villa being in the second tier of english football.

Been in the top flight since 88/89.

Come the start of the 15/16 season, I'm confident we will still be a premiership team.

Benteke looks like he could not be bothered today, one of the flattest performances I can remember seeing. If we are to stay up getting him back on track is a priority.

Can't say I share your optimism Westi, but dearly hope you are right.

Lambert has gone. Can't say I am upset. Results are shocking, performances are awful and the players are not playing for him. The right decision.

Would be ridiculous to heap too much praise on him for Sunday’s result but if he did indeed speak to the team at half time the second half performance bodes well. We were on the front foot and actually looking to move in a direction other than sideways. I can cope with us being rubbish, but the least you want to see is you to have a go at teams, which we did. My confidence in us staying up has increased somewhat.

If we can play like we did second half than there will be a bit more hope.

Ok people will say its only Leicester.

A win on saturday will be massive for all at the club.
Stoke though are tough to beat.
Then Newcastle a, Baggies h

His first 3 games will be tricky.

6 points would be great from them.

From the remaining 13 games, would say 5 wins and a couple of draws would keep us up.
17 points, would put us on 39.

35 may even be enough this season.

If Hutton is out, hope Bacuna doesn't start at rb.

I'm hoping Carver sparks some kind of reaction, doubt it though. One win in seven under Carver or something like that, so expect a very tight game between two low in confidence sides. If we lose, I will begin to worry, seeing as the fixtures after the Villa game aren't great.

Well, we are back at Wembley.

Great result saturday. Not going to really mention the pitch invasion, (has been coverd on another thread).

Sinclair has been very good for us since he arrived.

Sherwood has installed some confidence in the team that was lacking.

Would love to see Gil get more game time.

With the excitement of the FA cup, its back to the fight to stay up.

Sunderland away saturday, its a massive game.

Got to get 3 points here. Am hoping the 2 wins last week will spur us on to victory.

Am warming to Sherwood as manager. Like what he says and seems a bit of a character.

Onwards and upwards.

Confidence is back.
Sherwood doing the job. Getting the best out of players like Gabby, Bacuna & N'Zogbia.

Must keep this going.
