Earning Respect
First topic message reminder :
"All Blacks didn't respect us - Dusautoir"
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/rugby/news/article.cfm?c_id=80&objectid=10820191
Seems some odd thing for Dusautoir to talking about. Since everybody know that (a) NZ fear nothing more than meet France in the knock out phase of RWC! and second you have to earning respect, not repeatedly show up with a weak combinator to take a 50 point hammering, lose to Tonga struggle past ENG and then demand respect from the world.
Am I right?

Nice.

Re: Earning Respect
Just wondering. Is it open season on Richie's eyes. Looking at the Irish series and the world cup. It seems like he's getting targeted around the face in a number of games, with hands in and around his eyes. No one seems to get cited. What sort of a message does that send. No wonder McCaw didn't acknowledge the opposition following these matches.

Whilst we on the subject. I'd be keen on an NRL type system. of graded offenses with standard bans (with a reduction for an early guilty plea to save time and money).

Cmpletely agree. You could also have international ban vs a club ban (or a mix of both).

Re: Earning Respect
I also wouldn't mind if they actually hired citing commissioners with 20:20 vision that actually picked up incidents like the McCaw ones.
I don't know the process, and I appreciate that a lot of the players are hard as nails and don't like to tittle tattle, but it's up to these citing people to earn their keep. Incidents like the McCaw ones usually come out in Monday's newspaper, so is the citing window too short?

Re: Earning Respect
Maybe an independent citing process, done by paid professionals who did all the games. Given all games are pretty much televised at the elite level I would have thought it would be relatively easy. You could base it in NZ, Argentina and South Africa and it would be relatively cheap to.

Re: Earning Respect
What's the story with Conrad Smith?
I just caught the end of a news story about him missing the first 2 matches of the RC to have surgery on his eyes. I've noticed him bleeding around the eyebrows a few times after games.
I know he always throws himself into his game with little regard for his own safety and maybe he has got repeated knocks on the same spot; hence the surgery. Or has he also copped one, either accidentally or deliberately on or near his eye(s)? Can anyone enlighten me?

Re: Earning Respect
LB, there's a thread below with details called 'finest player...' or something. Basically a detached retina and he's had blurred vision for a while. May miss even more games than the 2 now. And Ellison, his natural replacement has only gone and got a bung hamstring.

Yes. Talk about "Cowardly". Eye gouging a prone opponent is the coward's cowardly. It's seem to me that there might be some blind eye turn to it (no pun meaning) because right now IRB are obsession about "tip tackles". Maybe now that Paddy O'Brien is gone from the IRB boss job some more consistency might be coming.

That's where we differ - Sharks for me. Are you "allblacks1", AWOP?
Skyped cousins in Chch at HT in the 1st semi. They weren't too happy but 'they' already have enough silverware in the cupboard.
(I didn't say that to them though)

Re: Earning Respect
Well you know there was not some conspiracy there that is preventing my prediction about the later Stormers come back. It was close but even then I was wrong about it so I much be contrition.
I think is a sad thing because there is no way that Sharks can win next week in Hamilton but the Stormers could have, so already we know the SXV winner.
Congratulation to the Chiefs!

Sharks weren't expected to win against the Reds and the Stormers. But they did.

Re: Earning Respect
Well the sharks have beaten two of the three conference winners thus far away from home, I reckon it will be tough for them, but they ain't gonna listen to anyone telling them they should be fatigued.
We had a saying in the army at meal time "Sluk nou en kou later" (swallow now, you can chew later)
I reckon Plumtree will tell his men the same, "play now and tire afterwards on the plane back."

There is something that doesn't ring true here - why in some of your posts do you write in pigeon English and in others you write in very poor English?
