First topic message reminder :

Hello and welcome to the Dew Drop Inn, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

This week the pub has set up in Bridgend, the birthplace of ex Wales and Lions centre Dr. Jack Matthews, who has sadly passed away.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Dr Jack Matthews and his Welsh centres partner Bleddyn Williams.

Nope the eejits in charge of promoting the city and urban regeneration coined it, I think.

It's a PC thing I suppose but it makes me cringe every time I hear it.... Rolling Eyes

Thought it would help sell the place to gibbo though.... Whistle

Fair play to Rory Mcllroy, he hit a 16 year old on the noggin with a drive from the tee, apologised, gave him a signed glove as an apology and then booked him into a hotel so that someone could keep an eye on him (he had planned to sleep in a tent that night).

Speaking of being sore, should I be concerned that my thighs still really ache after I exercised Wednesday evening? It's definitely an ache rather than an out-and-out pain, but I assumed it would have died down by now.

Being sore 2 days after exercise is a sign of old age Wink

If it's still sore tomorrow I'd worry.

Sure that's the risk you take when watching golf. I've seen a few people in the RDS take a serious belt of the ball before too, i know it's immature, but i always find it outstandingly hilarious.

Nope DOMS usually peaks after 48 hrs... today should feel the worst. Some light exercise and stretching might help.

If it was a new exercise you did then its pretty common to get really bad DOMS. After a couple of sessions it won't be anywhere near as bad (repeaded bout effect).

At Tag Rugby last night the captain of the losing team was the spitting image of Ruan Pienaar, Seemed to cheer him up when I told him so.

What's DOMS?

Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delayed_onset_muscle_soreness).

Your muscle fibres tear during exercise and it causes pain and stiffness post exercise. You'll get it worse with unaccustomed exercise, especially eccentric (where the muscle lengthens i.e. downhill running or the lowering phase of lifting a weight).

As you get used to the exercise you body will recruit more muscle fibres to do the same movement, so the load is spread and you won't do as much damage, hence not hurt as much. This is repeated bout effect.

It peaks between 24 and 48 hours (or longer) so its not unusual to feel worse today. If for example I don't run or lift weights for a few weeks (which I usually do Rolling Eyes ) then I can feel wrecked for 2 or 3 days after, as opposed to recover straight away when I do it regularly.

MBTGOG and myself were watching the Dark Knight last night. We were only saying that were that a real situation Joker would have been far and away top of every CIA and FBI Most Wanted Terrorists lists.

As well as shooting and stabbing probably over 100 people throughout the movie he assassinated a judge and the chief of police as well as destroying police helicopters, squad cars, a hospital and the central police station.

Thats a lot more than most terrorists get up to!

Southern Right Whale (or Baleen)- you should see the barnacles on it. Huge animal. They'll soon be heading down for cooler waters in Antarctica.

For which movie? The Dark Knight or the one I'm going to tonight.

I'd give the Dark Knight 8/10.*

I wasn't overly impressed with the CGI they did on Two-Face's burned face. Didn't look realistic to me. I also wasn't overly impressed with Maggie Gyllenhaal as the love interest character.

But otherwise I thought it was really good.

The rating that surprises me most there is 02 Wayne Barnes.

Others I can understand. This is a big season for Earls. Needs to sit down with Rob Penney and decide on his position (wing).

Yeah I want so badly to see Earls settle into a position and play to his potential. Perhaps Penney is the man to tap that potential, the catalyst to send Earls' career on the upwards curve.

Pete - I know he was quite disillutioned with his rugby last year. Fed up with the style of play Munster and Ireland had. He was strongly looking at playing in France for a bit but he got married and had a child so has decided to stay in Ireland.

Willy - a modest 11/10!!!!

I liked both of the recent Batman movies but I have to say, Katie Homles and Maggie Gyllenhaal both boil my pish, Anne Hathaway is the same, so they’ve one really consistant thing through all 3 movies, annoying female characters.

The CGI for Dent was only on screen for about 30 seconds Stag, it wouldn’t lose points from me for that, I’d give it 9, with 1 knocked off for a combo of Maggie G, and Christian Bales voice, which just sounded silly. Heath Ledger’s performance will never be matched, so freaky.

I like the Christian Bale voice though I get that its marmite to most.

I established yesterday that his suit has a voice changer. Some nifty freeze framing gave me my evidence.

I think Anne Hathaway is going to deliver a good performance. Gut feeling.

I'll go with Mick on this, the Dark Knight gets a 9 from me. I honestly think they wrote probably the best villain I have so far come across in film. Heath Ledger was brilliant in the way he played the role. It was the small details, like the way he sucked the phlegm around in his mouth in pauses, that really created that character but it was also the writing and the intensity of the Joker's quest which was magnificent.

I was saying to Stag last night that Batman is a limited character in the way he has been developed but that can work magnificently if they can create a legitimate counter to him and I really hope Bane can be that.

The side story of Dent was fantastic but I do agree with Stag that the CGI was poor but I also wouldn't knock off a point for it.

As much as I liked the Dark Knight I think I Batman Begins is under rated.

Rule of cinema- any movie with Liam Neeson in it is 20% improved. I hear he's back in Rises in a flashback
