The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Bridgend
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Dew Drop Inn, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
This week the pub has set up in Bridgend, the birthplace of ex Wales and Lions centre Dr. Jack Matthews, who has sadly passed away.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Dr Jack Matthews and his Welsh centres partner Bleddyn Williams.

All those lads are British though, why would I support them?
Nice to see Wiggins doing well, Nicholas Roche the Irish fella doing well. Amazing to think Ireland have had two winners of Le Tour and Britain have none as of now. GAA and soccer are the main sports for me this summer, love watching both and as a partial owner of the club it makes things som much better.

Summer rugby tours, Euro Championship (I didn't care but hey), Queen's (got to work there ), Murray at Wimblydon, Hamilton and Button driving well in the F1, Wiggins and Sky (and Froome) in the TdeF, the cricket and then the Olympics- ludicrous! Then next summer is my favourite rugby time of all- the Lions
Also, (as usualy) there's the GAA Championships to keep us busy on this side of the water. Up the DUBS!
Thom, i've not seen it. Would it change my mind about her really? Does she have a d1ck in it or something?

Dubs are going dowm, will win on Sunday but it's Leinster. Big Boys can beat Kerry by 5 points while playing in first gear. That's when you know yyou're a decnet side.

CJ, Hamilton maybe but poor old Button is getting it bad. Apparently his smooth driving style doesn't get heat into the tyres and he can't adapt. Hamilton could adapt but McLaren aren't going to change things to suit anyone other than Hamilton. Grrrr
Mick if she doesn't I've one I'd love to give her

I'd watch Shinty and Gaelic Footie if I could. I love my Ice Hockey and enjoyed Aussie Rules when I was in Australia so I'd be interested to GAA as the aggression and pace in shinty seems similar and Garlic and Aussie rules are meant to be quite transferable games, right?

Stag, are you heading down there for free? I don't think I wouldn't be disappointed with that.
CJ, power of the internet man, GAA is nearly always online now will send you a PM in a minute. There was game on tv in Britain last week live that we didn't have hear! First time ever I had to watch a GAA match on the internet. They're similar enough I suppose, football is far less physical, hurling is the fastest field sport in the world. A good hurling match nearly beats a rugby match in my view.
It also helps that Cork are the most successful county in both codes. We really are better than everyone else.

Garlic, not so much but Gealic football is moreso
We play a (used to be annual) series of compromise rules games against the Aussies. We're just edging ahead in the series (1 more win), which is good going because they're pro's and we're amateurs.

Was that typo intentional Micko. You sly dog.
Yeah, we do pretty good in the compromise rules, we do have the advantage with the round ball though. No using your knee to get leverage either!
CJ, you have mail. Gibbo, don't know how much you are into the GAA but my links seem to cover them now. Will walk you through how to get there if you're stuck!

Correction I am paid to go to the Lions tour Thomond. Looking good so far. We have got a good bunch so far and things are going well.

Hey, I'm in Dublin for the marathon from about the 27th October to maybe the 1st November. Are there any matches on for me to catch live then?

The championship finishes in September CJ, but the international rules COULD be on at that time, I'll have a look and get back to ya.

GAA? Not big time matches, the club season is finished at that time too. . Other than that maybe Leinster are playing that weekend or there will probably be some live LOI action too but you're not a soccer fan are you?

The Club season is pretty much done at that time isn't it Micko? Is there going to International Rules this year? I thought it wasn't until 2013 but I could be wrong.

What's this I'm hearing about Sarries v Munster being played in Boston?!
Where would they even play? The Gillette Stadium is a fair step out in Foxboro and they could hardly play in Fenway park. Bit of a silly move on the part of the Sarries, it will make money, but every paddy from Southie to Salem would turn up to support the turnips.

They wanted to play in SA last year Micko. I think it would work out pretty well for munster assuming we don't lose money on it. I think we will agree. Our CEO is a a decent guy and pretty smart too. Harvard stadium is within the city I think unlike the Patriots stadium. Has about 30,000 but the room for 60,000 maybe for concerts. 30k should be more than enough. Maybe there?

Sarries are silly like that. Twickers and Wembley against other London clubs like us is fine - we'll return the favour with our home game and they can make new fans in London. Other countries though, it's not even going to do that much to raise the profile of the game. If you want to do that, tour the place

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Bridgend
Munster's CEO said that if Saracens pay their travel costs then Munster could get on board.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Bridgend
I think we could make money from it and everything, would have to be done in the first few rounds, Boston would be too cold to play in December or January, unless you play on an Astro type surface like the Patriots. That mightn't be suitable for rugby though.

Saw the incident in Dnever when Linebreaker put it up, terrible story it's pretty close to Columbine where those school shootings happened too. Thought are with their families.

I made light of it in an earlier post without reading the article and realising how serious its was. It really is an horrific incident and my sympathy goes to anyone involved.
These people just wanted to watch a movie like myself later, kids and all. I'm just lost for words. Shocking.

Ah right, fair enough I thought he won it.
Stag, that's disgusting but what did he say?. Some of the gun laws in America are far too loose, now this guy had apparenlty no priors but sitll a bit odd. I went to a gun range twice in Florida and some guys just love shooting, like we love sport but there are some sick guys out there. The guys I met were all decent blokes, a few cops, retired guys and some who just enjoyed it but still a little unnerving.
