Tony Bellew v Edison Miranda 08/09/2012
Rumours are floating round that Bellew has signed with Matchroom and will be fighting on the 08/09/2012 against Edison Miranda.
I think this will be a decent fight for him. Miranda does pack a serious punch but I think Bellew takes to his one easy and spanks him out in 6.

Bellew signing for Matchroom is the worst kept secret in boxing. Don't blame him getting away from Frank as he had obviously fallen right down the pecking order.

Although Bellow isn't at world level yet so Miranda isn't terrible and he does have a bit of a name but..
Miranda's best years were at 160 I believe and I saw Miranda a couple months back where he lost a decision and he was pretty poor. He lost to an unknown and was just trying to go for the 1 punch KO that never came.
Bellow has a lot more ability and should win this comfortably IMO.

Miranda's tough and although he might just go looking for the one shot KO, he could get it as his hands are heavy. Power being the last thing to go and all that...
Could be a really good fight with two good punchers in there.

Bellew a huge Light-Heavyweight in his prime years, Miranda (at best) a natural Super-Middle whose best years were quite a while ago.
The odds are stacked far too heavily in Bellew's favour here for me to see any kind of upset or difficulties befalling him. Bellew by TKO anywhere past the middle stages, I think.

Agreed Chris.
Far too big & strong...and as he showed against Cleverely can box a little as well. I was actually unaware he had signed for Matchrooms - I know their were rumours but has it been confirmed?
If so then its another great acquisition by match rooms and adds further weight to the 'Hearn v Warren debate yesterday.
Bellew regardless of whether he hits world level will be on the fringes at least and is always in some good scraps..so win win for Eddie.

Wouldn't call him a great acquisition....
Chinny......with a loss to the great Cleverly...
However it does show ambition on Bellew's part...
Too stand up for me though...accident waiting to happen..

To be fair its better than anyone his rival at LHW who I shall not name for fearing ruining the thread has faced recently.
Miranda gave chilemba (sp) a decentish arguement in his last outting and would also probably help Bellew raise his profile (a small amount) in the US.

Joke of a fight against a washed up middleweight. Typical Hearn promotion.

Wouldn't mind seeing Bellew v Cleverly 2...
But If he's signed with Hearn..that's down the river!!

He is washed up slightly but as John pointed out he can still bang...
He is more of a name than anything currently on Bellew's record...and that includes Cleverly..
Truss im not too sure he is chinny. Granted he has been put down but he hasn't been KO'd/Stopped and I think most of the knockdowns he has suffered have been down to his own concentration (or lack of in his case).
He has come on a heck of alot...and he showed that he has some good boxing ability in his last two fights...
Problem is he likes to get into a tear up and much like Khan that's probably his downfall.
I think he is a great acquisition...ok not in terms of his world beating level but in terms of the debate raised yesterday as to who will come out on top of Hearn v Warren as the biggest promoter in Britain..
Bellew brings excitement..some trash talk to sell fights and is rarely in a dull contest. I would certainly want someone like that in my stable if I was a promoter.
Also agreed...definitely need to see a return match between him & Clev...but as you say chances are slim now!!..
Azania.....Give over!!

I bet if you put Foreman in a ring he would still be able to bang a bit. Still washed up. I can see Sky's promotion. They'll claim this guy was a beast who broke jaws etc. Ignore that it was 10 years ago.

Miranda is past it.......then again bellew hasn't got a title so as long as he doesn't go overboard proclaiming the victory..after.
like Haye-Chisora!! I suppose he'll do for a warm up..

You may well be right with the promotion side of things...no doubt they will make it seem like a bigger deal than it is...but that's hardly Hearns fault is it?
You said typical Hearn promotion....care to elaborate...
As far as im concerned in his short stint so far Matchroom have put on some very good cards.....
Most definitely not as poor as some of the shambles that Warren put on whilst at Sky.

I think that Hearn is a true Boxing fan......
Martinez certainly gets enough Matchroom fighters to feast on...

Hearns picks the fighters. He did the same with the BIG name for Brook only to deliver Hatton. He's a promoter/conman like the rest of them. Its Ramadan Mubarak. I reckon he's trying to flog prayer mats in Saudi.

Hardly a joke fight for an upcoming fighter, Bellew is still realistically at domestic level so it will be a good test to see if he can overcome his complacency against a fighter who can punch. Were it a title defence I would agree it was a joke but as it's not I see nothing wrong with the match up.

Bellew is not an upcoming fighter. He has fought for a "world title".

Another entertaining fighter back on Sky, can't be bad news. Hopefully Groves follows suit, likewise Degale.

Only just realised this is at Ally Pally. And has Darren Barker too.
Think I'll be going in that case!
