The Veterans
The Veterans are making serious inroads in their rankings.
Currently
1]Roddick is at 22
2]Haas is at 35
3]Nalbandian is at 38
4]DavyDenko is at 48
If I am right some of them were not even in top 100 by the end of last year.
Do you tip any of them or everybody to get back into Top 10 this year or some time start of next year?
Barring Nalbandian [Who is currently busy in Donut and kicking boards as he practices to help Argentina get back the FIFA World Cup trophy] I serious think the other 3 can get back into top 15 if not into Top 10.

Re: The Veterans
I'd agree with 1 & 2 but not sure about Davydenko. Then again, with a bit of luck, who knows!

Davy's form has gone completely bankrupt, but if discovers his form then he will eat some of those young cubs for dinner.
I would serioulsy love to see Roddick on the top helm one more time.

But.. but....the game is stronger than ever, isn't it? All the commentators say it is.

Re: The Veterans
Last year (year-end rankings)...
Roddick #14
Haas #205
Nalbandian #64
Davydenko #41
http://www.atpworldtour.com/Rankings/Singles.aspx?d=26.12.2011&r=1&c=#
In the YTD race...
Roddick #29 (just won Atlanta)
Haas #22 (finalist at Hamburg)
Nalbandian #45 (finalist at Queens - no points though)
Davydenko #64 (Rotterdam, Nice SFs)
http://www.atpworldtour.com/Rankings/YTD-Singles.aspx
The HC season is good for these four.
Incidentally, Monaco is now #10 with the Hamburg win.
Almagro, Simon, Cilic are veterans who can go up.
Go Soeda is one I have been watching for a bit now. Glad to see Stebe in Top 100.
Tomic (just), Dimitrov, Harrison, Goffin and Young are outside Top 50.
Ebden, Matosevic, Janowicz, Pospisil, et al. seem to have stalled.

@LF
I have been watching Go Soeda as well, he has been playing some inspirational tennis, specially the match against Kei was a classic, he completely outclassed the Japanese no.1 with ease.
Benoit Paire is the other youngerster had a good month or two, Dimitrov finally showing some of his skills. Belluchi when wakes up wins some title, otherwise its all dull road ahead.
Roddick's title win last week was complete shock to me, that too beating Johnny boy enorute.

Lydian.. I have that project in the works. Give me a week to finish the 'draw size' series, and then I will tackle this.

Re: The Veterans
Lydian, regarding average age of top 10, I found an article on menstennisforums and you can see the chart below. Sorry Laverfan for doing your work!!
Here is the link to the article that discusses this.

Nice one mangamuri!
And it said for 2011 it was 26.7 so a further increase...so the trend appears to be a downwards trend from 73 to 93 then back up again (ish), then down again ...before going up again from 2008 to 70's levels again. Hmmm, one to ponder!

Re: The Veterans
Did raise this under an OP of my own. Just wondered if anyone knew the record year for title wins by the over 30s. I can think of at least eight so far this year, which is good going, with power to add.

One thing for sure I don't think so its gonna end at 8 this year, with so much tennis left I am expecting that total to go on double figures.
