"Streaking was the fad throughout the World in 1974. This is the first streaker at a major sporting event, also produced the most famous streaking photo ever. This photograph, taken by Ian Bradshaw, was Life magazine's "Picture of the Year" and also won the World Press Photo Award. People Magazine named it, "Picture of The Decade" The photo was taken during a rugby match between England and France, at Twickenham in February, 1974.

It does still happen at the cricket once in a while, but they make a point of ignoring it on the coverage, although the TMS guys usually make it pretty obvious whats going on with various oblique references.
Major issues now are greater crowd control and stricter laws.

Relax guys, the 'picture of the decade' was the first streaker, a guy, outstretched like a Christ between the police, with a helmet (cough) covering his modesty. A great tableau, not erotic, but a great composition.

The missus put a stop to me doing it. Crying or Very sad Sometimes it was the epitome of a good night out. Does anybody remember the Australian match when the Aussies were in full flow when a naked bloke came on and tackled their winger, classic.

Nowadays pitch-runners tend to be clothed more often than not - which reminds me, a friend's (Ulster fan) boyfriend was the pitch runner at the HEC final - I'm catching up with her tonight, must ask what the punishment was.

It's some sad victory for the TV coverage philosophy to not show pitch invaders that unfortunately worked.

Then there was the time HERSH try to streak at a Bath game to get an atograph from his hero Olly Barkley:

She may well have been. The following week she was invited by the Oz to the team hotel in Wales. They got snowed in. The match was called off.
