Yes! What a boost to break Melzer.
On another side note, I didn't know Murray Sr was left handed. What a good combo.

I always think there's something alluring about her. Was it last years US open when she was in that black dress? She looked gorgeous!
Murray's are out. Jamie's serve fell apart in the final set.

I don't usually find her that attractive. I guess she's got a nice dress today as well though her face isn't looking as pretty as it could. I guess maybe it's one of those intangible things like her manner. Perhaps she's always like this as I don't watch her.

Don't get me wrong, she's no Kirilenko.
But she's attractive and I've always thought she seems good fun and bubbly.

How good is Jamie Murray? Was he chosen to represent Britain in the Olympics on merit?
Contrast that to reigning Olympic champions, or reigning World No. 1's in their event, who weren't chosen at all for their respective events.

I've seen Jamie Murray a few times and I can safely say I've never seen him play as badly as that before. I think he was having problems with the sun right at the end though but that's no real excuse. Can't see Melzer and Peya winning the gold somehow.

Yep, Murray snr normally plays way better than that. His serve went all to h£ll in the final set.

Who's got DelPo in their quarter? Potentially tricky quarter final there. DelPo's fitness might not be there yet but shorter matches and fewer rounds should mean he'll get to the final stages.

He's in Ferrers quarter. TBH I'm not sure if he is playing well, Dodig is playing badly or a combination. Not looking like he will give the top players too hard a time, early days though.

Ferrer v Del Potro is the quarter final. Seppi is a tough one for Del Potro, followed by Dimitrov (most likely).

Watson and Robson have taken the 1st set 6-1 v Lisicki and Kerber (I think. It's not very clear). Fleming and Hutchins down 1 set to Benneteau/Gasquet.

Wozniacki has a very nice curvy figure, it can't be denied, lol.
Fed did enough to get through, still think he has the easiet draw of top 3, Benneteau won't cause him problems this time.
Murray Snr wasn't great, I wonder if he feels the pressure too much playing with his brother. He seems to been going backwards in th game for a wee while though, personally I think he's lost his mojo for the sport...time to become Andy's agent.

Re: Olympic Day 1 Thread
I would say Lisicki and Kerber are currently superior players to Watson and Laura. The surprise was Watson & Laura winning the first set ... and winning it 6-1.
However as you mention they did get themselves into potentially winning situations (which is the hard work), but were unable to see the match out.

Well as I said before, bit of an over reaction Nore. Just my tense and over excited reaction to a phase of play - don't you ever do that in your house? Perhaps I shouldn't have shared here?

A question we wondered whilst watching the doubles tonight.
Say I'm about to serve for the match when unfortunately my partner slips and breaks his leg. Can I continue to try and serve out for the match with my partner off the court?

If you check back through the posts you will note that I had taken Emancipators lead to defuse the situation. But then the matter was taken up again.time please wrote: ... Well as I said before, bit of an over reaction Nore. Just my tense and over excited reaction to a phase of play ...
Anyway you are now complaining that I over-reacted to your over-reaction :something goes here:

Interesting comment from McEnroe on the BBC Olympic highlights program... He said:
"Murray's performance against Federer in the Wimbledon final is the best he's ever played, and he still didn't win."
Best he's ever played? Really? Don't get me wrong he played well, but I'm actually a bit staggered by that comment. I don't even think its the best he's played this year! I though his Djokovic performance in Australia was better.
Anyone agree with Mac, or like me think he's way off the mark?

Sorry - what? Seriously don't understand any of this Nore - sorry for being dense.
Defuse what situation???? What lead from Emancipator?
I am certainly not complaining that you over-reacted, just stating that, in my opinion of course, you are.
But carry on by all means. The irony is that I guess you are accusing me of being aggressive when it was actually done in a wry manner and with a smile and you seem to be the one that is the angrier out of the two of us.

I love Mac, both as a player and a commentator but he is given to hyperbole - Roger is back to being the greatest (until the next major win from Nadal or Djokovic) so the comment is really more about hyping Federer's win than commenting dispassionately about Murray's performance.
I actually think it was a more mature performance by Murray at Wimbledon because he played consistently well through the 4 sets and he stepped up the aggression very well really dictating play until Fed got into his stride. At AO, he let the win slip through his fingers when he went mental walkabouts in the 4th when he had the momentum.

Re: Olympic Day 1 Thread
It was one of his best - certainly his best by far in a final - but not his best performance overall. The 1st serve went missing in that crucial late 2nd / 3rd set period.
Agree, John is terribly prone to hyperbole. Not quite on the Wilander level, but bad enough. Funnily enough, if you want steady consistent observation try Boris.

Just watched the Fed match and he was great up to match point, quite unlucky for a period, then really got uptight and had a few poor games.
Still, that's him played into the event anyway. Benny next, who will be up for it, and if he gets past him I'm looking at Big John as a threat, all "USA'd" up and going for it.
