It's whether he has the stamina though. May be able to run the 100m, but could he play for 90 mins. If not he'd only be good as an impact sub for the last ten minutes.

Hat trick in the first half hour for Naismith on his home debut.

Here's hoping he can be another inspired Moyes signing.

Two assists for Pienaar as well

It's Tony Hibbert's testimonial against AEK Athens for some reason.

3-1 so far, approaching half time

I hope they let Hibbert score. He hit the bar at Norwich, probably the closest he has come to scoring in the Prem

1. It doesn't count as it's only a friendly.
2. That will be the only goal he'll ever score.
3. Why's he getting a testimonial?

1. When you've never scored, every goal counts.
2. True. That's why it was so popular.
3. Length of time at the club

Hibbert has never scored in 309 appearances for Everton, an unwanted club record, but claims to have no plans to take a penalty should one be awarded against AEK. He said: "Everyone has been asking me that. The manager hasn't said anything, nobody has. I would rather us win 1-0 than us get beaten 2-1 and I score the goal. I just want to win. I don't know why everyone is saying I should take a penalty either. It's an easy way of scoring, isn't it? If I'm going to do it, I want it to be a 30-yarder."

NOt far of.

I can't imagine he has ever been let anywhere near a free kick. He's only been able to pass to a teammate in the last 3 years, and cross a ball in the last 12 months.

Very very much sour grapes from Mr Ferguson me thinks. $45 million for a 19 year old boy is a lot, but he was going to pay around £30 million so he can't talk lol

Couldn't be backsided going to Wiki and copy and pasting the euro symbol. They've broken their transfer record (again) so it must be fairly near £45m.

€45m is about £35m (according to that Euros to Pounds converter I just used) so that seems about the fee Sao Paulo wanted Man U to pay. And the £30m-£32m fee Man U reportedly offered was rejected.

I bet Shinji will do better than most other summer signings though. (For once I'm actually being serious and not being petty, I actually do think Shinji will be one of the better summer signings along with Podolski and Marin).

Yeah Fergie's right, 35m is ridiculous for a 19 year old...

In today's money the transfer of an 18 year old Wayne Rooney from Everton to Utd would be 37.2m.

I've heard Marin is a lot like Robben, some games he'll run the show, others he will disappear.

Very excited to see how Chelsea will fit all the players in :P Potentially do a Spain and play 6 midfielders.

Difference with Rooney is he had Premier League pedigree and was going to be a star, there was no two ways about it. Lucas has played in a weak Brazilian league and to be quite honest, I'm glad we're not spending ridiculous money on him. If we're making a £35m signing, I'd sooner we went for Marchisio, Khedira, or another midfielder of that ilk. Would even prefer Hulk.

Rooney had already played and scored for England before Man U spend that much on him. And they're the 3rd best team in the world. No-ones even heard of that Brazil country Lucas Moura plays for...

Lucas Moura is basically Theo Walcott with Brazilian technique. I don't think it'll be the same as when Man U missed out on Ronaldinho but I do think they'll regret it when Lucas is winning the Champions League with PSG...

But from the bits I saw in the Olympics, I would have gone for Oscar over Lucas

I hate people reading actual broadsheets on the train, they take up the whole carriage with their ridiculously large paper. I generally read the Guardian on an app (I'm not an extreme lefty, but I find it far more tolerable than other coverage).
