I hope Roger and Delpo win, but will not be too heart broken if Andy beats Roger.
PS I also hope in the heat of the Olympics we will not forget about the v2 World Tour - the draw for Canada is out. With all the withdrawals and scheduling right after the Olympics this could bring more surprises than usual.

Serena becomes the 1st ever Double Golden Career Slammer - all four Major singles, doubles titles; Olympic gold in singles and doubles.
Both Williams' looking to win record 4th tennis gold medal (both have 1 singles, 2 doubles golds to date).
Bryan brothers join Woodies and Nestor in career Golden Slam, though Nestor remains the only doubles player ever to win all four Major doubles titles, all 9 TMS titles, Olympic gold, doubles WTF and year end No 1 ranking for doubles.
Federer looking to become the 5th player to career "Golden Slam."
Murray looking for two golds, gonna be tough playing No 1 seeds in both events, but perhaps Destiny will place the gold in his hands, after placing the Wimbledon trophy in Federer's?

Bad news for Murray; it's due to rain tomorrow but hopefully it doesn't. Not expecting Robson and Murray to win gold though, I've just seen Mirnyi and he is a giant. 195cm..... Scary stuff.

Good luck Fed, Good luck Murray - may the best man win!
Fantastic that Robson and Murray guarantee that Team GB will end the day with two Olympic medals.

It is simply right that Roger must win this. Anything else is inappropriate.

Come on Andy take home the gold. I think he deserves it, he has played extremely well and I think if would be a big boost for his future chances. It will be tough Roger is so strong on grass and should be the favorite with his superior serve, particularly his stronger second serve.

Murray knows how to beat Federer, just not in GS's. I have a feeling that he will beat Roger, Roger has not looked that good so far whereas Murray has looked reasonably comfortable.

Andy Murray: 2 time Olympic Silver Medallist.
Joking of course! I think he can beat Federer if the thunderstorm stops but I don't think Mobson will beat Mazarenka.

Bbc say it is likely to stay dry. That's a boost for Murray as Federer is a god in indoor conditions.
He's a god on grass full stop of course, but grass + indoors makes him close to perfect.
Come on Andy. Two golds today and his confidence will go through the (hopefully open) roof. It really could be a day people look back on and say "that's was the day Murray got the belief that enabled him to be a multi slam winner".

One thing I will say though was that Murray was hitting the lines v Djokovic so maybe it could be close under the roof. I'd rather it was open though.

Thx. What's the form? Open again after that match if it's dry (though I think you'd have to be brave to open it again, then have all the ritual of closing it again if it restarted)? Global TV would go mental.

Roger Federer is just too good for Andy Murray. This is the simple, plain, easy to recognize truth for all of those with a gram of tennis brain in their heads.
Well done to Muzza for getting into the final though!!

I don't care, so long as its not windy. Tennis in the wind is just crap, turns into a hacking game.

Re: Olympic Day 9 Thread
Fed is my very marginal favourite, he really wants this. It will be interesting to see how well he recovers from the JMDP marathon.
Murray is in the best place I've ever seen him - he not only wants this, but seems to be enjoying himself hugely. He's never come back so well so quickly from a Slam final defeat.
I really have high hopes for the rest of 2012 for Murray. I'm pretty neutral about this Olympics final given it's Fed's last chance, and I'd like to see Fed take the WTF again this year, but I really hope that Murray can take the USO.

I know you're tired, but keep it up. I think Murray benefits from the roof too but anything to keep the wind off the court, it kills Federer.

Someone always seems to be able to find her out at RG too. She's way the best when on form, that's evident, but I don't see her achieving a level of consistency in 2013 that she's been unable to do since 2002-3.

It's absolutely about her fitness but if she stays fit and doesn't pick up anything too serious I reckon it's on.

nice doubles match on CC right now. The Czech pair are proper doubles players and are handling the Williams power pretty well. Don't think they'll win, but it's a nice match.

It's quite tasty. There's no love lost between these pairs; they know exactly what it takes to wi such as battering the ball at your opponent at the net.

The Williams sisters must have secured the decisve break now.
Poor old Djoko and JMDP - rain delays are bad enough, but for a bronze medal match? That must be maddening.

Then it should be open.
The only factor is wind; both guys like indoors tennis and I think the main thing that goes in favour for Federer indoors is his intolerance of wind - his shots are more across the line of the ball, so timing is crucial and any holding up etc. kills him. Therefore indoors allows him to play 100%, but so does a still outdoor day.

Federer might be the fittest 30/31 year old in the world but if he's not even slightly fatigued by that match on Friday then he's not human. That will only come into play in a potential 4th/5th set so I expect to come out all guns blazing and try to win in 3.

Haha that Balding women called Federer the GOAT (she used the acronym).
All this hyping up of the Olympics is just making me sick.
Now they're trying to claim that it's even more important than a slam.
It's just ridiculous.
If Murray wasn't contesting this final no one would be even talking about it.
Just pathetic, so desperate to elevate Murray's status.
