Emancipator. Why do you allow others to influence your thinking? I mean if they were all cheering for Roger would you hope Murray "crushed" him
Also, whilst I am unimpressed with a lot of things about the Beeb's coverage, they and plenty of others (including Roger) have emphasised the importance of The Olympics - so I fail to see why you consider their continued 'hyping' of this as having anything to do with Murray

Of course it has everything to do with Murray.
Do you think you'd hear Barker and Henman suggesting that the Olympics is above even a slam (as they were doing in the intro) had Murray not been involved? It's just their desperation to see Murray come out on top. The OG in tennis has status, but let's not kid ourselves, none of the players would prefer OG to a slam - any slam.

And to be honest this kind of talk is demeaning and disrespectful to the history and tradition of the sport.

Re: Olympic Day 9 Thread
The Olympics has turned into a much better tournament than I expected it to - quite the best since tennis returned to the Olympics with 3 out of the top 4 going for it and Del Boy perhaps announcing that the 2009 US Open Champion is back (he's got the 1st set vs. Djoko).
Having a Bo5 final involving the Wimbledon finalists on CC does make this a bit special too.
However - Slam it ain't, and anyone saying otherwise is a tool. If they are saying otherwise to big up Andy, who needs no bigging up, they are double tools.

I think you need to go to Spain or one of the South American countries and witness real bias (just ask Lewis Hamilton)
It's laughable that anyone can get themselves heated up by Sue Barker who goes wild about any of the players

Agree 100%
The Beeb have some people who are 'tools'. Harmless ones, though!!

Good first set from Murray, and he's got the scoreboard advantage in the 2nd set too.

Early days though!! Not certain it was a fair reflection. But Roger does slightly look his age at the moment
As he did at this stage 4 weeks ago

Fight Federer. 3-0, but just one break. Would be nice to see a 5-setter.

Ouch. This was 2:2 in the first at one point. That winner on the last duece was good.
The crowd not nearly as one-sided pro-Andy as I expected.

What? Just got back to the game. Losing the second set as well can´t have been in Fed´s game plan.

Federer is moving badly, the time it took him to beat Delpo is the time it usually takes him to win 3 rounds of matches.

Strange thing is you always feel if Federer wins a few games in a row, Murray will lose focus like he normally does. Seems though that Federer is feeling limited.

Horrible stats for Fed in that set. BP's 0/7, 10 UFE, only 5 winners. First serve % 53.

This match is not over. If Federer gets a bit of momentum we all know how he can turn things around.
Murray, again, has played the big points way better. Brilliantly in fact. It's not a 6/2 6/1 match in terms of general play. One break for fed and this could turn on its head.

its ok. We knew this was over for Fed thanks to the brilliant resistance of Juan Martín. A silver to go with his gold from Beijing.

Fed really looking sluggish out there. Poor footwork. I think he's feeling the effects of that semi.

Del Boy rocks, and Djoko failed to win a Bronze inspite of having a cup cake match to Bronze. Sorry Socal not my mistake, hope you learn from this tournament and never underestimate any draw.

I wonder if this is some kind of master plan, he knew two close sets with loads of rallies would give him no hope of winning, but resting in the first 2 go for his shots and save it for the end. I can dream can't I!

Agreed. To hear some on these boards, you'd think that Fed was losing to a rank outsider - such is the sense of shock
Not a player who's beaten him 8 times

No it isn't. Fed is capable of breaking back and then anything is possible
When the Top 4 are playing each other, one break is not 'game over'

What like US Open 2008 - where Murray was "physically limited"?

When Nadal is tired, its mentioned a lot but if Federer mentions it after the match...watch the wolves jump in. To be honest even if fit, Murray playing like this may have won anyway but the scoreline wouldn't be this

Simply because that excuse get's jumped all over if any of Fed's rivals use it when they use
By, yes you've guessed it, Fed fans
Nobody forced Roger to take so long over DP - hence, like Murray has in the past when he laboured over opponents on his way to a final, he had nothing to give
No disgrace there
