Man Utd thread
First topic message reminder :
There are a few Utd fans like myself on the board but like the LFC one set up, everyone are welcome to discuss Utd's results and news etc..
Playing Barca tomorrow night, only a pre-season game but would like to see Kagwa given a run out tomorrow night see what he's got against the best.

Re: Man Utd thread
id still rather have giggs playing lm than nani!!
how that man is still at the club is beyond me, he is quickly becoming the standard of obertan and bebe! truely has been awful this season and wasnt much better last.
giggs can still spot a pass but is a luxury player, he will be better in games against weaker oppostion. spurs have pace that will find out quite a few teams but our pace is pathetic and going in with no holding midfileder was stupid. dont rate carrick, average midfielder who does nothing special. certainly not a standard of united player that should be automatic number 1 pick (shows how weak we really are)
problem for me this season is trying to fit our best players into a system thats going to work and get our best players in. kagawa plays in the hole so thats a problem of getting rooney and rvp in. valencia is a out and out winger who's great and effective when someone like rooney is in the box but its not rvps game and doesnt suit then.
the only soloution i can see is play rooney as part of a front three of rvp, valencia with rooney with on the left side coming in and swicthing postions with kagawa and floating. that way he can still get in the box when valencia gets wide down the right and give him someone to hit. then a midfiled of kagawa, hopefully a flechter and scholes (carrick when scholes needs resting. dont rate young, very precitable he's a ok squad player. and i'll be happy if nani never plays for the club again, massively overated

What did the ref do? Not give you 50 bazillion minutes of added time for you to equalise?

We should have had at least 2 penalties...I would be more worried about Norwich to be honest.
You have Chelsea and Arsenal next so that's 3 points from 8 games...Relegation beckons for your team im afraid.

If we play like we did this week every week, we will go down
However back to the topic, what were these two penalties then? For me Spurs showed up a lot of your weaknesses, and your desperate need for a CM in the Yaya Toure mould

Nani and Kagawa got fouled in the box if I remember correctly plus a handball shout I believe...We dont need Ya Ya Toure we have a much better player in Scholes.

Read what I said. I said you need a yaya toure-esque player. And Scholes is a brilliant player, but him and Carrick will not give your defence enough protection in the big games, example A being the Spurs game on Saturday

on what basis a couple of good games against arsenal a season thats about it, valencia has been the most consistent and best right winger in the prem. nani played on the right against spurs, he was the one letting vertonghen go right past him and not tracking his run. pretty much like he lets every full back do! everton last season, he made tony hibbert look like the new cafu!!!

pffft! watched him for juve last week, looked poor. wont be anywhere near as good as yaya. hasnt got the mentality to progress, showed this by trying to hold us to ransom even though he had barely represented the first team. dont want people who dont want to play for the club.

on what evidence? he's played there quite alot for us, and while he does play better there he is still terribly inconsistent. something which valencia is definately not. he's so wasteful. and kills alot of momentum in our attacks by over doing things. theres a reason why rooney scores alot more from valencia, nani is usually doing pointless step overs by the time valencia has the ball whipped in. he doesnt track back like valencia either

he was, but the reserves is a pretty awful standard. he was simply standing out alot because he was bigger and stronger than alot of players.

When Nani plays on the right most of the time he is great the best player in the league in year 2010...Has more to his game than Valencia.
As good as Valencia is he is one dimensional.

Re: Man Utd thread
Its very simple when it comes down to Nani v Valencia
On his day Nani is a far far better player than Valencia, unfortunately Nani is nowhere near consistent enough and often is detrimental to our offence. Valencia, although quite one dimensional, is very effective and so consistent he rightly gets picked for the RW slot every time.

By that logic you'll be happy enough to admit Man Utd needed the ref to help them break down Wigan
You need a rub of the green to get results against Utd at Old Trafford, they get an unbelievable amount of decisions in their favour, when it doesn't happen you really shouldn't be so bitter about it
I've been to Old Trafford twice for a competitive game and despite being the 2nd best team we still got some pretty bad decisions against us which definitely cost us at least one game
It happens

Nani is more versatile then Valencia that is why Fergie still shoehorns Nani onto the left to get him in the side.

Re: Man Utd thread
I'm not bitter at all, I'm unbiased, I don't really have any preference in England although I've always liked Everton as a football club, classy club.
I'm a Celtic fan, we played Utd twice at Old Trafford in the Champions League, lost twice, got battered once 3-0, still though Utd got a ridiculous penalty in the 3-2 loss, utterly ridiculous, bit like Welbecks, it was Ryan Giggs, the 2nd game we were lacking in a bit of quality and it was one way traffic, still, two of Berbatov's goals that night where offside
Manchester United are the establishment club in England in my opinion, to say "refs are against United most of the time" is so ludicrously innaccurate that it has to be intentionally innaccurate
I was never a fan of United obviously as I support only one team but I always enjoyed watching United due to their style of play, although that's changed over the last few years, to say I'm bitter is strange

I was at an Arsenal/Man Utd game two years ago and Nani was unbelievable, United won 3-1, my ex's dad was a Gooner and I went with him, that I believe was Nani's best game, I work with a Man Utd fan and he goes down every week to watch United, he tells me the guy is probably one of the most naturally gifted players in the league but his consistancy is diabolical

sadly he's been living off that game ever since, if we had got hazard or lucas he would have been out the door this summer. when he first turned up he had similar ability to ronaldo at that stage, sadly he didnt have ronaldos mentality that saw him improve dramtically over the years he was with us. now he goes missing more often than not

I obviously disagree. Are we comparable to the big guns of Europe now? No, its simply unrealistic due to Financial reasons alone, still this is a thread about United, no need to give your opinion on a club you obviosuly don't rate

He is fine when played on the right wing consistently, unfortunately his injuries last season scuppered him.
Valencias crossing isn't all that, the fact he rarely gives it away stupidly (people don't see hoofs to the far side over everyone's head as stupid) mean people like him.
Refs make mistakes for everyone, the good teams are good enoug to overcome them. On Saturday we battered spurs 2nd half and should have won in 90 mins without any injury time or the 2 Pens we could/should have had.

Cluj didnt even try to score once they got that early goal pretty bad attitude to have in only the 2nd group game whereas Nordsjaelland were going forward at every opportunity looking to strike blood. Man U's group is just too easy even easier than most groups in the Europa.

Was Rooney in midfield last night or just drifting. I only watched snippets of the game but every time he had dropped deep.
His passing was sublime but give me space and mine will be half decent.

If I see another non-constructive, insulting comment on this thread any time soon, somebody is getting a ban.
If a certain poster's grind on you, then ignore them. The site actually provides a 'foe' button for that purpose, which will hide all their posts for you.
If you believe they're trying to wind you up, then rising to it is just letting them achieve their goal.
Thank you.

Fairly comfortable win in the end, Newcastle not a real threat despite de gea flapping at anything that came his way.
Just a pity we didnt create more and I thought kagawa was poor again.

Fantastic win. Delighted to stick the boot into Newcastl; I thought they were appalling. Evra, who is normally appallingly appalling, was brilliant, as was Rafael who is also normally appalling. Great goal from Cleverley too although whether he meant it or not is another matter. He is not as appalling as some people think.

Re: Man Utd thread
Man Utd scouts at Celtic Park (again). Think you are having a very close look at Victor Wanyama.

Re: Man Utd thread
Yes, the bhoy is one of two players at Parkhead who could play at the very top (Kayal is the other). He never gets out of 1st gear in the SPL. Still a bit rough round the edges, his passing is poor at times. But as a midfield enforcer (which Utd need) he would fit the bill. Still just 21 as well. Though if we sold Ki for 5-6 million, I wouldn't take less than 10 mill for him.
Doubt you're still looking at Izzy after signing Buttner.

True, don't see fergie going for a pure dm, perhaps unlikely of hisnpassing isn't up to scratch.
Have to see how he does in cl now his ban is over - mind you miller had a few good cl games!'
