Man Utd thread
First topic message reminder :
There are a few Utd fans like myself on the board but like the LFC one set up, everyone are welcome to discuss Utd's results and news etc..
Playing Barca tomorrow night, only a pre-season game but would like to see Kagwa given a run out tomorrow night see what he's got against the best.

You obviously Forgetting the millions spent on a proven RVP then!
At £22 million he was a bargain though!
Not like we had to pay his true value, doubt we would have.

At the end of the day he is a very good player but if he leaves, he leaves. No one o bigger than the club and if he leaves sure we can just bring home our prodical son from Real Madrid
Re: Man Utd thread
talk of rooney getting a new contract now, hope its for reduced terms because the way he's playing at the minute he's nowhere near worth being the highest paid player at the club

Re: Man Utd thread
Strange that at our current rate of points accumulation we will get 97, a record.
If we managed to win our last 9 games (unlikely) we'd get 101, yet everyone just refers to us as 'meh'.
What is every other team in the league then?
We need to strengthen for europe next year, I think we should have beaten Madrid even with 10 men but the PL is ghastly quality and we need to be above it to go far in europe again.
Also got to look at the fact Rio, Vidic and Evra are into their 30s and will all need replaced soon.

Re: Man Utd thread
I agree fresh legs are needed for next season. We lack a box to box midfielder and I think Kevin Strootman fits the bill for that role. Will only be around 14m I believe which is a good price for a highly promising player.
I think we could do with another winger, left back and possible a centre back as ent rightly pointed out, there are a few players heading into their mid 30's and Smalling and Jones yet.

even the most pessimistic side of me cant see us losing it now, think a lot are just worried because of last season. but lets face it city aren't playing half as well as last season to gain such a gap

We have Zaha coming in, probably see nani leave, we do need another though as young isnt United quality and Valancia is just plain awful this year. Hopefully he can get back his form but even then it'll be him and zaha on the right. Need investment on the left

Reports this week we've agreed a 17m deal for Garay of Benfica. Very impressive centre back and has thrived under regular football at Benfica and is still only 26. Will be an excellent signing especially with Vidic's injury problems and Ferdinand not getting any younger. Hopefully we can get rid of a few like Fletcher and Anderson and bring in some replacements.

How very dare you!!
I think the future is fine with Jones and Evans at CB. I think Evans is now a very good PL standard player. Ok, he's not in the running for team of the year but don't think Utd would get a better player without shelling out loads of money.

Pretty pathetic from us today.
Thought only really welbeck and smalling performed well over all.
Season is turning out to be pretty disappointing overall. Good points tally in the league so far but have whimpered out of all the cups in games we could have won and you could count on one hand the number of times we've played well.

Re: Man Utd thread
Taking this with a pinch of salt but lot's of reports going around saying utd have made contact with Athletico Madrid over signing Radamel Falcao.
Others saying the deal has been agreed with Hernandez going the other way etc. Never thought we'd be linked with him but very very happy we are. I still doubt highly he'll come but my god what a signing he would be. Not really where we need a big signing because we need it more in cm and maybe another winger but nonetheless wow.

A pinch of salt? I reckon the whole of Britain's stockpiled grit for the roads. Mind you, I'd love to see a front 3 of Rooney, Falcao and RVP wheeled out against some poor team.
I have nothing to back this up but I've said it before and I don't think Falcao will leave Atletico. With the FFP rules coming in, no team could afford him.

Can't see us getting Falcao.
If we've big cash it should be spent on improving the midfield.

Re: Man Utd thread
ideally i'd rather sell rooney to psg or someone like that for 30m then have that go towards a centre midfielder and have falcao. Like i said, that's in my view, in an ideal view but i'm thinking athletico are saying this to get chelsea/city/psg into a bidding war and to get a move on.

Selling Rooney would be controversial. Granted his form doesn't warrant his star billing or wages but it would still be a big statement to sell him.

Re: Man Utd thread
I rate falcao higher than rooney. both the same age, one is getting better and better, the other has stagnated and hasn't fulfilled his potential. I know who i'd rather have in the side. he's also a real threat in the air which is ideal as we lack an aerial threat up front imo.

Re: Man Utd thread
Not disputing Falcao is currently a better player, but he would have to adjust to the PL and like it or not Rooney is considered one of the top players in England and Europe and it would be quite a statement selling him.
Not saying it won't or can't happen but a lot would be made of it by many different parties.

Planning for next season chaps.
Ins/outs
Can we get bale? Thought we were going to go for him last 2 summers but haven't. Can we afford him/would spurs sell?
If we did I'd let nani, Anderson and young go to recoup some money/shave wage bill.
New cm still required- any ideas?

Nani, Anderson, Macheda and Bebe out hopefully. There will be some investment in the squad but I don't think there will be more than one big signing. Hopefully it's Lewandowski.

Re: Man Utd thread
Luiz has proven that many footballers are deceitful, con-artist wannabe's and usually willing to break the rules for their club.
This kind of behaviour is worthy of utter dis-respect and should be given a big kick in the teeth.
I doubt you'll find Barca or Madrid smiling at the oppositions fans whilst faking it. Barca & Madrid have a little more grace about themselves tbh.
At least Man Utd are a family orientated club.

Hey mate, a fella takes a wild kick at you and you fall to the floor laughing - where's the fecking crime - Luiz was out of order with his elbow before that but the ref didn't pick it up, then the young lad kicked out wildly at Luiz who's team was 1-0 up and he fell on the floor laughing - The young lad will hopefully learn that rash retaliation doesn't pay. Would you have preferred it if Luiz got up and went for his throat?

Re: Man Utd thread
On the ins and outs, personally can't see us getting rid of many players as Fergie likes to have a strong squad and a big one at that. Center midfield is where we've needed to strengthen for a long time. I'd love to see Modric with rumours of him wanting out of Madrid already, him alongside Carrick would be a fantastic partnership. I'd also love to see us get Strootman, many believe that's a done deal already.
Allot of people wanting Anderson gone but the thing is like yesterday, he is a quality player when fit, but just never can get a good run of games. Its a tough call because he would be a good squad player but we could get some cash for him if we sell him now.
The big signing I would love to see is Bale though. 23, scoring when it matters and plus he's a winger which is where I feel we need to strengthen, with Young and Valencia offering nothing this year and Nani getting injured just when he starts getting into some form.

Luiz was a bit of a muppet and milked it but you can't go kicking at people even if you are just after a yellow and a bit of revenge.
This strootman thing is fm nonsense that's being going around for 2-3 seasons now. Won't be happening.
1 swallow doesn't make a summer and Anderson is pathetic, not a patch on his form in 08, it's 5 years later now time to give up on him.
We just don't look like we can hurt decent teams at the ment and it is very orritating.

Not sure if it's been said but anyone see 'crocked' Ashley Young on the Man Utd bus. Limps on with crutches to collect his medal. 24hrs later, jumping & dancing around on the bus like a child. I'd get rid of him & Valencia if I was Moyes. Young is weak and injury prone and Valencia is just the worst winger I've probably ever seen. From what I've seen of Zaha this season and from last night, he walks into that United team on the wing.
