STAR PLAYER BIDS ARE OPEN
STAR PLAYER BIDS ARE OPEN
Star Player bids will commence Wednesday (15th), and run to Friday (17th) at midnight, when bidding is closed. Who got who will be posted on Saturday all being well - and assuming it can't be done earlier. If you miss out initially, there will be a second round bidding process and you may make another bid on a player. All bids will be sealed and PM'd to Hero and sodhat. It should be made clear that you cannot make a big bid on a Star Player, and then not have the cash all at once. All money must be paid immediately, or you miss out. We aren't doing IOU's on it, and that applies to everyone.
To qualify for the second round you must have submitted a first round bid - you can't just wait and see what's left. If there are exceptional circumstances as to why you missed the deadline you may appeal to the runners, but these circumstances absolutely do not include "I was playing Ultimate Team for 4 days with the curtains closed."

It's not as if Hughton is a bad manager is it now Afro? He knows what he is doing, and hopefully we'll be fine

Is Hughton anywhere near as good as Lambert? I would say not.

I wouldn't say he did too bad at Newcastle, taking them up from the Championship and to mid table safety. Also did a good job at Birmingham last season, considering the money problems, as well as the sheer number of matches they played. I guess only time will tell how well he does

I don't think the manager is the issue, I think you have a squad that reached far above itself last year, and it will be a hell of a feat to repeat that. This isn't even wumming you, I would like to be proven wrong, but it could be a tough year.

A monkey could have got Newcastle promoted that season. Their players were head and shoulders above anyone.
He also inherited a decent Birmingham team and failed to get them back up.
I don't see him as a Premier League level manager. A good Championship one I would say. If you keep hold of him, you'll be okay in the Championship next season, but I can actually see him getting sacked as a result of the threat of relegation. Lambert will be a massive loss IMO

I'm not stupid. I know this season will be harder than last season. But I still have confidence we can stay up. I'd be a pretty dire fan if I just thought we were gonna go down and was all negative.

Sod - the reason that the squad achieved above itself was the Lambert factor. He got them playing above the sum of their parts.
This season, they don't have Lambert, so I fear for them.
Which is shame because, Mike Walker aside, I have always liked Norwich (the team, not the Town)

I very much doubt he will be sacked even if we do get relegated. In McNally we have a very good Chief Executive who knows what he is doing and I can't see him panicking and sacking Hughton even if we get in trouble. He will get time.
Also Lambert will be a loss, there is no doubt about that. But we always knew he was gonna leave, hell there were rumours of him leaving last summer, so I think we have always had a sort of contingency plan in place. I would have loved for him to have one more season here. But I am glad we have managed to keep the same bunch of players together, along with a couple of new additions and look forward to seeing what we can do

You'd be a West Ham fan if you thought like that Olly
You may be ok, but the rest of the league seems to be stronger now, it'll be a real fight at the bottom. Probably Saints/Reading/Norwich/West Ham/Wigan will be back there. Then God knows who else gets sucked in.

I am only :fishingrodsmiley: with you Olly. I think it is difficult to call who will go down. I think Southampton will struggle to keep goals out, so see them going down.
Sod - I like Lambert, he is a lot like David Moyes. When the inevitable eventually happens and Moyes moves on to a big job, Lambert would be high up my list.
Walker however was the most arrogant manager I have ever seen. To quote Neville Southall "He loved himself, not the club"

Re: The 606v2 Fantastic Fantasy Football Homepage XXV
If I'm honest Afro I was surprised Lambert took the Villa job. It is a huge risk in terms of his career. I thought he would stay here for another season then move on, but obviously there may not have been the job there next summer. I thought he would be the next Everton manager before he left for sure.
Southampton have a horrid defence and keeper at the moment. Wigan if they lose Moses look to have a very weak squad. And I just have a hunch about Swansea

I don't know if I can be arsed with a fantasy football league, I usually pick a side, then when everyone else is doing transfers I just leave it as it is and have no idea where I finish.
If someone links everything I may give it a go.

Laudrup has been hit and miss in other jobs I believe I am right in saying - so you never know. Swansea may be what is referred to in American Football as a 'system team'. Take them out of the system and they don't function - so it may depend how he plans to change them.

I think Swansea losing Sigurdsson and Allen (probably) that is two of there best players gone. I do also wonder about there defence, it started to leak goals at the end of last season. Although being a Norwich fan I am not in a position to criticse another teams defence
