I'm baffled at the timing. Why let him appear on TV three times after the offence, and then fire him? They should have taken action straight away. I think firing him is harsh, possibly a suspension would have sufficed.

it's ironic that this year the WWE inducted Mike Tyson in their hall of fame, but fire AW for his comments

Gutted, I was hoping there enough time to get a AW v Kobe Bryant match ready for summerslam!

Sad as he's one few things I've found enteraining recently!

WWE star Abraham Washington has just been FIRED after making a Kobe Bryant r*** joke on live television last week -- and he's peed ... claiming the WWE has "turned its back" on him.

As we previously reported, the WWE issued an apology for its July 30 live broadcast of "Monday Night Raw" -- during which Washington took the mic and said a wrestler named Titus O'Neil was "like Kobe Bryant at a hotel in Colorado ... he's unstoppable."

Now, according to Washington, the WWE has taken further action after the joke, terminating his contract entirely.

Obviously, Washington is NOT happy -- taking to his Twitter moments ago with a barrage of angry messages ... like, "It was the #WWE that made me bold and now it has turned it's back on me."

"Just be normal shut up and be a yes man so you can collect your check and feel like your special. #SELLOUTS!!"

"I remember a time when the WWE didn't care about breaking the mold but now everyone is so afraid of their own shadow. #RemeberTheFans"

"Thank you WWE for creating me and then killing me because I only portrayed what I grew up watching... The #WWE!!"

A rep for the WWE tells TMZ...."Unfortunately, Brian Jossie, playing the character of A.W. was terminated because he continued to exhibit poor judgment by making offensive and inappropriate comments on live television and on social media."

Does anyone else think that this may not be the best move for the WWE? As it is AW is peed off and will be shouting his mouth around on Twitter, which will only extend the debate and interest in it... If they were to make a statement sacking they should have made it sooner - now it has blown over and they could have kept him in-house but off-TV in order to have kept him on a tight rein.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Sad

Seriously why release him??? Just suspend or fine him, don't let him appear on the TV and then release him after the offence, WWE is seriously screwed up

I think they're very slow to react, they were trying to judge what the public reaction was and then decide what to do.

They've handled it horribly and will only create more publicity around it.

Well WWE have now effectively killed the whole tag team thing they had going, with AW trying to get some challengers. I actually was looking forward to the primetime players against kingston and truth

They killed it anyway with straight up stupid booking. Have the PTP's beat Kofi and Truth to become No1 contenders, the have them lose to Epico and Primo the week after.

if the prime time players end up getting future endeavored too then i bet anything all 3 of them will be hired by impact wrestling and be allowed for a 1 time thing when they debut to rip into wwe about this.

Absolutely ridiculous that he was fired for that, like how many people (younger fans) actually got the joke, could have given him a warning! Punk, Orton and even Vince himself have done/said much worse things! absolute BS!

Apparently it was also caused by him tweeting about Linda McMahon's Senate run, although it was positive and asking WWE fans to vote for her, the WWE doesn't want any recognition from the WWE on McMahon's Senate charge.

Titus O'Neill RTd the AW comment about Linda - does that mean he is gone too?

No, because he didn't then make things worse by making an inappropriate joke on live TV.

Although Titus O'Neill probably will go soon enough. raspberry

Sofia has been released too.

Although I think that was for the reason of no-one knowing who she was.
