There's Some Great Talent Kicking About
Loved watching the young Cuban take gold this weekend, and that Ukrainian gold medalist was probably the most graceful boxer i saw at London 12. Throw in the British and Irish successes and i think boxing has been a really great event at this years Olympics.
Sure, some of the judging was atrocious, but not as atrocious as years gone by. I guess when you have an international panel that constantly changes you can get some varied results. Still, when the Japanese guy decked his opponent 5 times i thought that would have been clear cut, lol.
Anyway, i have really enjoyed watching the boxing at this years Olympics, and it really does make me appreciate the sweet science, and appreciate how much it means to the fighters when they represent their country.
Well done to all the competitors, and for those who turn pro in the coming years, good luck!
Best,
emore

Having said that, yesterday was a great finale. Was the Ukrainian the guy who beat Evans? He looked very good.
Spot on!

Fred Evans wasn't beat by lomachenko, he was beaten by a kazakhstan fighter sapiyev. Lomachenko beat a Korean in his final. Who got the Val Barker award though does anybody know?

Sapiyev got it mate. It was tight, my top 3 would have been Iglesias, Ramirez and Sapiyev in any order. Lomachenko never had to get out of second gear.

I hope lomachenko turns pro now, he has won twice at the olympics and the worlds and is still only 24, sapiyev though I feel it may be a bit late at 28, but he has fought at four worlds and medalled every time he may just have wanted the Olympic medal before turning pro
