UK NFL Coverage
First topic message reminder :
Just wondering iof anybody knew when there would be news over the Sky coverage
I've been following a message board on the Sky website where they're saying terms have yet to be agreed for the license to show the games and whenever people are questioning they come back (admin at Sky) with a vague message about privacy due to ongoing negotiations.
I know we're still a few weeks out from the regular season, but need to know am I gonna be getting my fix from Sky or will ESPN or Premier Sports pick it up

Sounds like they have got me to buy a Gamepass subscription then!
The 6 day delay on any Packer (or other good quality) games shown on Sky was a killer - so glad it seems to have been reduced.
Similarly having Redzone covers me whilst the Packers are on Sky and I have to wait for coverage

60 live games a season. Well happy.
Are channel 4 still doing Mondays?
Sunday nights is on Channel 4, Monday Night Football is probably going to be on ESPN but I haven't seen a confirmation yet
NFLUK twitter account tweeted earlier today that they will soon be making an announcement about MNF
Re: UK NFL Coverage
I'll put this on here as well, MNF will be on BBC!

That is awful news. It's on the red button, un-recordable and not in HD.
Olly - C4 always show the SNF game.

It's good news if you haven't got Sky or ESPN. Though I do agree about the red button. Surely the BBC haven't got great plans for BBC1, BBC2 or BBC3 late at night?MockingJay33 wrote:That is awful news. It's on the red button, un-recordable and not in HD.

That is crap, I probably will still stay up for the games but I'd much rather have the option to watch it thenext day. So many pointless channels and free air time kicking around on sky, the red button can gtf

Agree with the concerns about the red button, but doesn't it exist as channel 301 on freeview (a directly selectable channel) such that you can record off it?.
Olly,
Sunday night game is Manning vs Roethlisberger aka Pittsburgh at Denver

There is a BBC Red Button channel on freeview, like 816 or something.
Cheers Dave, should be a cracker

Re: UK NFL Coverage
If you have a sky box, you can add the red button channels and I think you can record off them then.
As people said there are solutions to it. If people want them game to grow in UK/Ireland (we can get it too) then this is needed.

Re: UK NFL Coverage
Can anyone tell me exactly how to add the red button channel to my sky plus box? Tried looking for the channel but couldn't figure it out. I'm really happy the BBC picked up the games, just don't like how it's hidden away on the red button

I will be experimenting with this - I'm not sure my virgin box has a specific channel for the BBC red button, or at least whether I can identify one that will definately be the one they use for the NFL.
It must be hidden away somewhere in the hundreds of channels I never use...

I have been looking on the forums for Virgin and it looks like we will be unable to record games on the red button, which it crap means that i have now lost MNF

There will be a condensed version of MNF shown on BBC on Tuesdays. Not sure how long, what channel and time though.

Only 2 games a week. After week 1 MNF is one per week like SNF.

Like the fact BBC have games but red button seems a bit annoying.
Do they seriously think what ever garbage reruns they show at pointless o'clock in the morning will get a better viewing figures than a Sunday night football game?

Monday night of course, not Sunday
Lack of sleep there after staying up all night to watch Raiders because you can't record off the red button

You can, channel 301 on freeview, I checked mine to make sure this morning and almost ended up being late for work.

I contacted the BBC last week with some of the above points. Just waiting for a reply. Not holding my breathe for insightful answers though. From previous experience they just try to avoid the issues best they can.

Has anyone tried accessing SNF on 4oD yet? It's showing as unavailable for me. Is it a case of there being a delay (like Gamepass) or was their earlier statement just a lie?

I think it might be up, it's repeated on the red button tuesdays in a condensed highlights package. So that's quite handy.

I watched that last night.
7:30 is quite a convenient time and they ran though the game in 90 mins without missing much at all.

Re: UK NFL Coverage
Games are up on Iplayer, Channel 4 are apparently having issues with it getting it up on 4oD (replied to me a few times). Quite glad that they cut out the advert break things, they were terrible during BBC, read something that they found out quite late about the chance for NFL to be on BBC so maybe that explains the lack of hosts which may be why it's hidden away on Red Button?

Re: UK NFL Coverage
I only saw the Chargers @ Raiders one with the breaks in but some rather boring music while repeating the week 1 results, divisional standings, Chargers + Raiders fixture lists, plus what I imagine were meant to be "key players" but that was just Rivers + Gates and Palmer + McFadden. Plus the "facts" on these key players were pointless. I'll admit maybe terrible was a bit harsh but how hard is it to find a TV host? As they give Jake Humphrey the superbowl they obviously aren't that bothered about knowledge of the sport anyone will do... Could surely get their 5live commentators to do it?
