Charity Case Australia Get Hand Up...
NZ are now apparently so comfortable in the headlock position that hold their little rugby brothers Australia, that they have offered to go easy on them for the next 10 YEARS. Yes, the whole decade! By letting them have home advantage in the Bledisloe Cup opener for that period of time.

Cheers. From reading the comments there are quite a few dissenters from both sides. Seem a bit too corporate and 'brand'-led for my liking.anotherworldofpain wrote:sugarNspikes wrote:Link?

Interesting. I bet Queensland is peeved. And the Wallabies play better at Suncorp too.

Huh, strange.
To be fair though, half of NZ lives in oz these days so it probably doesn't feels like an away game like it does in SA. Often hear the droning alllll blaaaaccks allll blaaaccks chant go up in oz stadiums. I wish we could chant proper.

From this I make it that when it is 3 match series, it will ALWAYS be Sydney and Suncorp when Australia hosting 2 games. I guess Australia give up on rugby expansion and go for consolidation in the core provinces instead...?

But what could you say? It's not like there's much scope with All Black is there?
10 years is a long time in rugby or any sport, I wonder if after 4 or 5 losses on the bounce they'll be regretting this decision?

Aus vs NZ in Melbourne is a great occasion, so it seems a pity to lose that. I guess Perth will continue to get the occasional Saffa test, sharing with Brisbane, with Argentina being moved around the venues to give matches.

Re: Charity Case Australia Get Hand Up...
Is interesting to the effect it might have on rankings. Wallabies go better at Brisbane than anywhere else and so to play NZ their more and SA less might nudge the balance to SA...

Re: Charity Case Australia Get Hand Up...
I think you got it wrong.
Every year it alternates home and away but Sydney gets
a test every year. (this year 2 in Aus next year 2 in NZ)
NZRFU aint gonna let the Bledisloe cash cow be shipped across
the Tasman on the cheap.

Re: Charity Case Australia Get Hand Up...
You are wrong Gunner. Sydney get the first test every year. Brisbane get a test every year that there are 3 games in Australia. This is alternation.
SYDNEY - NZ - BRISBANE
SYDNEY - NZ - NZ
Will be the pattern.
NZ will of course alternate between AKL, HAM, WTN, CHC and DNE.

I see much of the NZ / Samoa / Tonga model in this AWOP.
Not being from there you will obviously not be familiar with NZ's thinking, but the idea was originally based on the question: 'Why host a game in Apia or Nuku'alofa where the gate will be small when you could make more of the opportunity elsewhere?
It's quite a reasonable question in my mind, so applying it to NZ and Australia we could pose it thus: Why play in the small and poor country when you could take it to people who can still actually afford to fix the hole in the ar&e of their pants without the benevolence of their neighbour? Admittedly not quite the same question, but the underlying principle remains sound and consistent. I'd say Steve Tew deserves a round of applause for swallowing
his pride and recognising the best for NZRU.

Re: Charity Case Australia Get Hand Up...
The Wallabies have a better record at Homebush Bay actually (6-5). They've only won once at the 'new' Suncorp (1-3).
It makes a lot of sense playing the first match in Sydney each year. The ABs can get more 'home' support here than at any other ground outside of Auckland... and London.

I prefer to think that the Aussies are descended from people the Brits kicked out. New Zealanders are descended from people who chose to leave

Though in fairness, Melbourne is still the Economist's "Most Liveable City" http://www.economist.com/blogs/gulliver/2012/08/liveability-ranking?fsrc=scn/fb/wl/bl/australiangold - London comes in 51st!

...and then keep pouring back into Australia.
That list is always interesting. Oz, NZ, Canada, ... Austria & Finland.
