Fabrice Muamba retires
The Bolton Wanderers star, who suffered a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup tie in March, said he was devastated his footy career was over but had to put his health first.
He thanked the medical team who saved him and said he was grateful for all the support he has received.
Muamba's heart stopped for 78 minutes after he collapsed on the pitch at White Hart Lane on March 17.
Millions on TV watched as medics from both teams and a heart specialist who rushed from the stands desperately battled to keep him alive.

Re: Fabrice Muamba retires
It's sad that he has had to retire, especially as I always expected him to make a jump to a bigger club in the next couple of years...but, I am glad that he's taken what is a very sensible decision. It would be awful for him to make a return only for it to happen again.

You would hope that he's granted a testimonial and given some kinda coaching role.
Sad end to a promising career but health obviously must come first.
All the best to the man.

Can only echo the sentiments of others - sad, but understandable that he has had to call time on a promising career. Hopefully he can go on to make a success of whatever he moves on to.
My understanding from reports at the time of his collapse is that Fabrice is an intelligent young man, so hopefully will find it easier to adjust than some other players whos careers have been cut short.

I thought it would happen. But who's decision was it? He's probably still fitter than half of the PL players too. Unfortunate condition.

Normally when someone has to retire way before their time it's often a sad situation, but given that the lad is still here its hard to really expect anything else, hope he has a long and happy life in whatever he does
