Keeper Rules

- 3 players per year max.
- Can keep players twice (so three years total per guy) before forcible release.
- Players take the value of there draft round in the first redraft.
- Players move up in value by 5 rounds for the second redraft, or as high as they can go otherwise.
- If you end up with stacked picks (multiple players as keepers who count as the same round) they build up backward. e.g. if my keepers are draft picks 3, 4 and 5 I would loose draft picks 3, 4 and 5 in the first redraft and 1, 2 and 3 in the second as each player would be upgraded to an effective 1st rounder by the 5 round rule and therefore stack up.
- Undrafted players are valued at round 10 for the first redraft.
- Traded players initially count as there drafted position with the +5 rule in effect for all subsequent years.
- Years of eligibility are team specific, based on the round value of the player when traded to you. e.g. if a player is drafted in round 12 and is kept by another team for one season they will be valued as a round 7 pick when traded in year two due to the +5 rule.
- Abuse of the above rule by trading away a player over the keeper period only to get them back afterward will invalidate the resetting of two year eligibility.
- Once a player has no eligibility left on a given team they will count as a 1st rounder if traded away to somebody else and retained

Bad week for me... Rice doesn't deliver, Wayne gets less than a point whilst James Jones is sat on the bench (tbf DHB was my Dez Bryant backup plan, not him so I can't say I was close to making the switch).

Prestige Worldwide has scored solidly throughout.

Well the Sri Lanka Rams put up the highest score in this league all season. In fact nobody in the West has ever scored 147+ over two seasons and the only team to have ever scored more in a 606v2 league appears to have been Rexy's Redskins (aka the Current RG3's Super Socks run by Number-25).
What a time to do it!

And in the other semi final, I have been stung by Prestige Worldwide. There is still hope but as my only hope I have Shonn Greene...

Haha! Thanks very much for bringing this up Dave - I do recall my Rex Grossman led team from last year topped that 147 mark...... too bad it never came close to it again though!! It's a shame though, cos I can't actually remember who else was in that team! Was clearly a very good week for it though! Only thing I remember about that team is that I had a disappointing set of RBs and Vernon Davis was a massive disappointment at TE. Come to think of it, with Grossman at QB, a bad group of RBs and an underachieving TE, I've no idea how I got to 147 points that week! My Kicker must have had an awesome day Laugh

Anything could happen, but i'd be happy enough with 16 from J.Jones and Scheffler... your real strength comes from the QB and RB... though realistically it comes from every position barring TE!

I was disappointed to see Matt Ryan's big day was reflected in a high high score for Roddy White in the battle for the final mention on the historical section of the league!

I also stumbled across this piece related to last weeks games...

Yeah I'm happy enough. TE has been a hopeful position all year for me, I suppose that's the sacrifice I made when I went after the other positions. I'll take any amount of points from them to be honest. When I saw 4 tds for Ryan I was hoping for a nice Jones hat-trick to get off to a flyer but 13 or so points is enough for me. Can't ask for much more than that. How many points did Pitta get? Must have been a fair few.

Rubbish season overall for me, but have two questions about keepers :
How long do we have to choose keepers? Does it stay active constantly?

Advice on keeping Eli? He's never been that good in fantasy but I'd assume most of the
good fantasy QBs will be kept?

As per the draft this year; the picks in round 2 (and other even rounds) will be the reverse of the first round (and other odd rounds). Thus when selecting keepers those who performed "badly" get better value in releasing picks in odd rounds (because they will free slots that will be near the front) and people like yourself get much better value releasing picks in even round because, for example, your second round pick will be pick 13 whereas TM Moots will be number 24!

Currently discussing Keeper Stuff with Forward Pass as we are the ones that can alter settings and i'm the one with a spreadsheet designed to calculate what each pick is worth (only for later years when it gets complicated - its very easy this year; their worth where they were drafted no matter who did the drafting and if you keep two player with the same round then one of them simply moves back a round etc. - see top of the thread).
Will not be soon, though you can start specifying them right away if you like. Will likely be after the real NFL draft so that FA has passed and you actually will know where your keeper is playing or if a draft pick has replaced them etc.

In terms of keepers - i'm not sure what people will end up doing. I would imagine with 3 keeper slots that a lot of the QBs will be kept. I think the best way to look at it is too see where a player was drafted this year and then see where they may go next year (e.g. Randall Cobb will be way higher than a 12th rounder next year) and pick out those who are great value BUT also keep your true studs regardless because you raise a very reasonable point - there may be very few good players from certain positions, notably QB, actually making it back to the re draft.

Just a heads up to say that the league has reset for the upcoming season as of today.

Please feel free to start setting your keepers for the upcoming season if you want... it should be a good early sign as to who is on the ball in this league and who could need replacing further down the line!

I had a chat with my co-manger Forward Pass quite some time ago, and I think all we decided was that the keeper deadline would have to be a decent few weeks before the draft so people had enough time to reasonably plan and do mocks based on who was taken and who wasn't.
Other than that we have no set deadline as of yet, but if you set them early you should still be able to change them if something comes up.

Please bear in mind the keeper rules listed in the OP. This year there are no limits, but there will be an impact for anyone who may keep players for multiple years.
If anything confuses then just ask and I will explain Smile

Next years 1st round draft list is given in the original post, based on reverse standings.

Anyone know where to find out what draft spot you give up for your keepers? I'd feel pretty silly keeping someone like Andre Johnson for a 2nd.

Edit: found last year's draft in the league history incase anyone else has this issue

My keeper options are awful, I'm honestly considering keeping only Demarius Thomas, other player are either too high price (first for Brady) or been replaced in the draft/offseason (Mikel Leshoure) oh well, at least my draft position is ok.

Just had a first stab at my keepers. At the moment it looks like I'm keeping 2 QBs which is a bit frustrating but I can't resist holding on to Luck for a 7th rounder and Kaepernick for a 10th rounder. There's good trade bait in one of them.

You would pick 2 qb's in a normal draft
So a 7th & 10th round pick isn't bad at all ,
both are now sure to go in 1st or 2nd round this year in standard drafts

I have had my three keepers ready since last year but that was without thinking Lamar Miller would get the nod as number one RB the Dolphins. That could make the decision a little more difficult.

I was also hoping that GB1919 would be letting either Luck or Kaepernick go. I'll have to have a look at what other QBs maybe available.

Are you seriously considering not keeping Brady, because I assumed that everyone would keep the best Qbs as they're guaranteed points! Also I need to see what Qbs are left to decide whether to keep Eli

I forgot I had picked up Chris Ivory in this league, must have had my forward thinking hat on that day!

Undrafted players being 10th rounders this year is still a bit high! Maybe round 14 is a better option :p

I'm picking 3 from Peyton, Lynch, Cobb, Forte and Ivory

Probably not too difficult, considering the value with a couple of those guys!

Spiller and Morris would be extremely high up my list of top keepers due to where the went last year, combined with the probability for a massive RB rush in the early rounds. These players are at the very worst 3rd round picks this year in my opinion.

Cobb is a must, Peyton too perhaps. Lynch is solid but you won't make value gains by keeping him, Forte - meh, Ivory could be boom or bust. I really wish I had those choices though!

Somebody traded him Rodgers and AP last year... I'd assume it is them!

The logic is you deserve much more credit for drafting someone yourself and actually using a pick, as opposed to being low on the waiver wire and simply grabbing the hot name who has just had a breakout game or a skill position player who is replacing an injured stud every week until you get lucky.

I wasn't keen on 1st Sep because it will be the standard draft day for the other leagues. I hadn't figured that the Sun 24th was the b/h.
