David Lloyd's Favourite Meal
As an obscure and admittedly rather bizarre trivia point - if only to get away from the subject of Kevin Pietersen - I read recently that David Lloyd's favourite meal is Chicken Madras with naan and lime pickle.
However, I doubt that even the eccentric Bumble would want that for every breakfast, lunch and tea. Something that certain contributors might wish to bear in mind as they continue to serve up such a monotonous diet of posts ....

That's one of mine also, especially the lime pickle part

Yuk!
Tried it once and was not impressed.

I think it's an aquired taste. I also think the concept of eating raw fish takes some getting used to. I never liked it until a few years ago, after constantly being taken to jappanese restaurants...

I'm with Stella concerning sushi. It doesn't do it for me.
As an accompaniment to most types of curry, I've very belatedly discovered and become a big fan of mushroom rice ....

Some good curry houses round Trent Bridge. Day at the Test match then a curry afterwards - now that's a perfect day (as long as England do well!)

Prefer vegetable rice myself.
As the wife and I rarely go out to eat, I always have the same thing. Must expand my pallet one day.

Apologies for continuing to be a pedant but sushi refers to the rice, sashimi is the raw fish. Might save you from future embarrassment if you were to heap scorn upon the concept of vegetarian sushi.

What's his favourite tipple?

Both good pubs. The Poacher is a bit of a trek from TB though, good 30 min stint uphill! Maybe Swanny drives him there after the match.....

To be completely pedantic, doesn't sashimi mean just the sliced raw fish, maki the rice rolls with the seaweed (filled with whatever - the Koreans have their own version of this called I think Bampgi), and sushi is a rice ball topped with whatever (no seaweed involved)?
I was using sushi in the seemingly accepted way of meaning "mixture of all the above consumed at random jappanese restaurant".
Some people who eat fish still claim to be vegetarian...

Re: David Lloyd's Favourite Meal
I worked as a steward at Lords for a couple of summers, and at the end of a test match we'd go down to a nice little pub, I think it was called the star.
It was funny, cos often punters on leaving would ask where the nearest pub was - on days 1 through to 4 we would direct a few to the star (there are many pubs near Lords, so in the interests of fairness we would direct different punters to different pubs) but on day 5 we would keep it to ourselves.

Lloyd describes his favourite tipple as a pint of Black Sheep or Timmy T's.
I'm getting all this from The World According to Bumble: Start the Car. I don't believe it will go down as one of the game's greatest works but it's certainly an enjoyable holiday read and a welcome distraction from a certain batsman and texter ....

Oooh good choice. Immediately goes up in my estimation.
I like bumble, he doesn't take himself too (at all?) seriously, but he occasionally comes up with some very interesting analysis.

I found it to be an excellent read in an unconventional way. Very light hearted, genuine and above all funny. He's a national treasure, is Bumble.

If anyone ever heads to the Emirates ICG in Chester Le Street, there is a potentially the best chippie in the world just up the road with bargins that will blow your mind. My personal favourite is a battered burger and batterered sausage in a bap, with a big portion of chips all for £2.70. I'd recommend to anyone.

Re: David Lloyd's Favourite Meal
gboycottnut - your own hero gets quite a few mentions in Bumble's book.
Lloyd writes of Boycs: ''he is good at coming up with a punchline to emphasise his magnificence in comparison to your own measly existence''.
Lloyd illustrates this by recounting how Boycott once described getting caught behind to a magnificent bit of bowling, before adding: ''Of course, an ordinary player like you wouldn't have touched it.''

Bumble was born in Accrington, so I'm assuming he drinks plenty of milk.

Bumble was not only born in Accrington but writes proudly of having played football for Accrington Stanley, a team mocked by Ian Rush in a milk advert years ago (as alluded to by Stella).
Bumble takes some revenge with a chapter in his book headed ''Ian Rush? Who's He? Exactly!''.
