The Cardinals run game is a mess. Fantasy black hole. I dropped Ryan Williams after week 2, he had two fumbles in two weeks and was running like he was still in college, dancing around behind the OL and thinking he could run sideways. GL with that Ryan. Even then the bigger concern for me was the awful Cardinals OL. Now you have Smith, Powell and Stephens-Howling in a RBBC behind an OL which cant run block. As poor as Johnson has been this season I think I'd have to go with him over that situation.skins4ever wrote:
A bit peed off about my RB's. Draughn doing nothing (like the Chiefs really) so picked up S-H (given that the Card's #1 & #2 RB's are KO'd). Now do I risk him being fit and getting carries/catches this weekend, or take a chance on CJ getting yards on the Steelers. Wish I could play a spread formation in FF!
Start and forget RBs are at such a premium in the bigger fantasy leagues now. Looking at the East league there are about 4 teams with two RBs you can start and expect ++points each week. The rest of us have maybe one stud and then a whole load of trash/uncertainty.
I've resorted to taking flyers on Jahvid Best and Alex Green. The situation is soooo bad that I was actually really happy to get Alex Green ffs. At least he's got the chance to get Bensons early down production.

Picks exceeding expectations - Jay Cutler(round 6),Jamel Charles(Round 3),Reggie Bush(Round 5),James Jones (Round 14), Kyle Rudolph(Round 9) , Owen Daniels(Round 11)
Picks doing ok -Matthew Stafford(round 1), Branden Lloyd(Round 4)
Picks who really are letting themselves down - Who else but Greg Jennings? (Round 2)
Score so far: i would give my self a 8 out of 10 at the mo

So true. In the bigger leagues you've got to compromise somewhere since it's just impossible to have almost guaranteed quality at every position. I'm happy with my RBs - I've got Morris, Murray, McGahee and until this week I had Bradshaw who I have now traded for Nicks (please get healthy soon!!). Problem is though, by going RB heavy early in the draft, I compromised in quality at WR so that's where my trash and uncertainty problems lie. Lucking out on Alfred Morris in the late rounds of the draft has meant that I've basically had an RB to spare so hopefully, once Nicks is fit, I'll have a more balanced looking team. Let's be honest, this is just a game of chance and luck that you can influence to a certain degree but at the end of the day, you're a hostage to fate and injuries and inexplicable loss in form and players playing way beyond the talent level that anyone ever saw in them.
BTW, how little talent is there on waivers this year???? It was bad last year but this year there is nothing! At least last year gave us Victor Cruz and DeMarco Murray. No-one even close to that this year!

In a standard scoring league where you have to start an RB1 + RB2 I belive it's better to be compromised at WR than RB. Good RBs touch the ball more often and will have a higher avg ppw than good WRs.
BTW I would say you have the best group of RBs in the league-even without Bradshaw you've got 3 guys who are feature backs=touches, no other RB to vulture GL carries + they stay on the field for 3rd downs.

I did manage to grab Leshoure and Simpson coming off suspensions, but generally there hasn't been an awful lot to get excited about on the waiver wire. Doesn't mean there's nothing there though; I just picked up Joique Bell, who may not get many carries but somehow has found a way to get 6-7 points every game.

Cheers! Definitely lucked out on Morris - I thought he might chip in with some decent scores here and there cos he'd had a good preseason but I definitely did not see him being as good as he had been. I also didn't think McGahee would contribute as much as he has. Having said that, Murray hasn't contributed as much as I hoped but it's still early days and he's had a tough schedule for RBs so far. Hope I don't regret trading Bradshaw away - he clocked up a monster score at the weekend but I really need some WR help since the Gronk hasn't chipped in with as many points from TE as I was hoping he would. The fact I drafted him in the 1st round was one of the reasons I went RB heavy early in the draft cos I was banking on him chipping in with top WR numbers which meant I reckoned I could leave taking a WR until the 5th and 6th rounds. That bit of the plan hasn't quite worked out. Was probably a bit unrealistic anyway to expect The Gronk to replicate last season's numbers again.

I think trading Bradshaw for WR help was the right move, I would have done the same. You can't start all 4 RBs and you needed help at WR, makes perfect sense. At the time you made the trade Bradshaw had the weakest ROS outlook IMO, concerns over his neck injury continuing to be a problem, loss of touches to Andre Brown (possibly GL and early down work). However Browns concussion obviously makes Bradshaw a more attractive option than he was looking a week ago.Number-25 wrote: Hope I don't regret trading Bradshaw away - he clocked up a monster score at the weekend but I really need some WR help since the Gronk hasn't chipped in with as many points from TE as I was hoping he would. TBH the GB situation is looking almost as bad as Arizona, It'll probably end up being RBBC in GB as well unless either Starks or Green get hot. It's pretty much a coinflip.TM Moot wrote:twelve283 wrote:I've resorted to taking flyers on Jahvid Best and Alex Green. Looks like in 14 team leagues everyone (usually!) has a problem somewhere. I'm set at RB but am dodgy at QB

Agree wholeheartedly with the lack of waiver quality. Its almost wierd that there are so few good #2 or #3 at positions across the league. Likewise, not many rookies stepping up at the skill positions.
Dilemma here with the bye. With CJ against the Steelers I'd have played Thomas, but I'm left with a straight toss up between him and Stephens-Howling. Likewise at QB - Ponder should (sadly) do well against the Skins secondary and RGIII is coming off that knock. But Ponder is a steady Eddie and RGII is dynamic, so what to do? Again, could be a coin flip.

Just realised this morning that I had a third of my team in action last night!! Off to a decent start - Big Ben, Mike Wallace and Rob Bironas all combined for 47 points. Long way to go yet though and to be honest, two of these 3 guys are (Big Ben and Wallace) are guys that I need to have good games if I'm to win. Bironas was a pleasant surprise though - he bagged 14 points last night which is easily a season high for him I'm sure.

I see you left CJ on the bench in the end skins4ever. He bagged a decent 11.4 points in the end. Decent, but not great score. Although on CJ's form this season, that does represent an excellent outing!! Wee bit of pressure now on Stephens-Howling to top CJ's effort....

I'd be surprised if Stephens-Howling gets even half of that unless he breaks off a big run or catch. I expect to see Smith or Powell get the start with SH seeing limited snaps. Despite the stats I don't believe the Bills run defense is that bad, they have faced the top 3 rushing attacks (SF, NE and KC) through the first 5 games and they looked much better vs. Cleveland and the NYJ. Think they'll do just fine vs. Arizona's putrid rushing attack.Number-25 wrote:skins4ever wrote:Agree wholeheartedly with the lack of waiver quality. Decent numbers from Jared Cook last night, but a TD would have been a help there.
My receivers have been carrying me the last two weeks so I need something from Decker, Manningham and White again.

Gotta go with Rudolph against the Redskins awful pass D. All QBs, WRs and TEs are must-starts against the Redskins these days sadly. Every week this season at least one WR or TE has had a big day against us. Last week Tony Gonzalez managed a big game even though Julio Jones also posted big stats. There's plenty of points to go around when you're playing against the Redskins' pass D so if you've got Rudolph in your team this week you've got to start him I'd say.

I'm not counting any chickens yet Barney! Far from it in fact!! I've not had the best luck the last couple of weeks. Also, earlier in the season I turned over a 34 point deficit from the Thursday night game when the other fella had only had two players in action.... and it was his Kicker and Defense!!!

Re: 606v2 East 2012 - NFL.com Fantasy Football Homepage
I'd say Daniels is the safer play on any given week, he's been a big part of the Texans offense so far this season (more targets and Andre Johnson through 5 games). Rudolph has a similar number of tragets but hasn't put up as much yardage, he does get a lot of targets in the RZ which is where his upside is. Both are playing against defences you can pass on, Washington have given up the most passing TDs so far this season (13) tied with Tennessee. Daniels is the safer play but I might be tempted to go with the upside of Rudolph vs. a favourable matchup.TheBrahmaBull wrote:TheBrahmaBull wrote:im not sure who to start Rudolph or Daniels?

I'm still hoping for a comeback but it's a very solid start you have there. 14 points from a kicker is very handy. Hopefully Blair Walsh can run/pass in a few fakes.

Likewise at QB - Ponder should (sadly) do well against the Skins secondary and RGIII is coming off that knock. But Ponder is a steady Eddie and RGII is dynamic, so what to do? Again, could be a coin flip.
I see you left CJ on the bench in the end skins4ever. He bagged a decent 11.4 points in the end. Decent, but not great score. Although on CJ's form this season, that does represent an excellent outing!! Wee bit of pressure now on Stephens-Howling to top CJ's effort....
Yeah, I figured he had to be an upgrade over Draughn who's barely scraped past 5 points in any game so far. At least Thomas is getting around 7 points a game wiht the Saints RB by committee. SH should figure some in the passing game even if he doesn't start.
And yes, I am peed off with CJ. Who'd have thought he'd get over 5 points on the Steelers, let alone over 10?!

OK, so no counting chickens, but I could very well win this week with the lowest winning points total this year! Way to go RGIII!
Wouldn't have bet on Alex Smith having such a howler, but I'm not complaining.

I thought hell had frozen over and Shonn Greene's 34 points had led me to a win
Sadly I knew Aaron Rodgers was still to play, but I thought he'd find it a little tougher against the Texans D. But then I wake up to 6 passing TDs...
I now need Eric Decker to overturn a 11 point defecit, and my opponent still has Mathews to play. I'm not very confident though.

At last Rogers starts to score points, it's only taken the number 1 pick 6 weeks to get a good score

Yep, his was the week that I benched Jordy Nelson (30pts)
Luckily I bagged a win thanks to Ray Rice and AJ Green mostly.
If I had played Nelson and Freeman over Eli I would of topped 150, which would of been nice...

A good show by Manning has me back at .500 and a has lead me to what will probably be a brief stint atop division 3.

Had Eric Decker not tackled himself, and Mathews been held to a few less yards I might be 3-3, but Aaron Rodgers blew me out of the water. I think I got my highest score of the year too!

Managed to scrape the win last night despite Rivers nearly blowing it for me. He has been awful this season, really need to think about looking for a replacement.

Josh Freeman is available if you have a RB to swap.

Unfortunately I'm short on RB's but have a lot of WR's. Going to start Fitzpatrick this week so will see how he does, can't be any worse than Rivers performance last night, surely!

Told you this match up wasn't over despite my decent start from the Thursday night game. Disappointing showing from my lot on Sunday and Monday night. My WRs were really poor. That's me on a two game losing skid now and I've suddenly got an RB crisis for this week with Murray injured and McGahee on a by week. That Bradshaw trade is starting to look a bit ropey now! Only consolation I've got from this week is that I didn't leave any points on my bench that would have made a difference to the outcome had I started them. Reckon that's me done with the Eagles D - they've done next to nothing for me. Also, The Gronk has been a major let down for me.

I have Turner, White, Decker all on bye weeks, so I've gone to the waivers to see who I can put out!
I hope I can get a WR in because otherwise I have two TEs and I'll be relying on Cam Newton and Shonn Greene to have big weeks.

I thought I had shot myself in the foot by trading for Graham. Left me with 3 probable starters on a bye week. Manning and the Browns came to the rescue though. I don't want to have to start Wilson next week though. I fear the niners might eat him alive.

Interesting post twelve, thanks.
Surprised i'm as high a scorer as that (2nd), i would of thought too many of my players weren't contributing enough.
I like the Coach list, i'm glad my benching of Jordy Nelson inspired him to pull his finger out!!
Only 14pts spread in the PPW, which shows how close this league is.

Nice post twelve! Thanks very much for that! Having said, it's left me feeling pretty depressed.... I've scored the most points, I've got the best overall W-L-T record and have the 4th best coach ranking and yet I'm only 3-3, am joint bottom of my division and two games off of my division lead!! It's a cruel game.........

Re: 606v2 East 2012 - NFL.com Fantasy Football Homepage
Another Wednesday, another lot of failed waiver requests. I don't think I've managed to grab a single player off waivers that I really wanted this year. I've gone from having 4 good RBs just 2 weeks ago that I could have started to only having 1 RB that I can start this weekend. Traded Bradshaw away and now I find myself this week with DeMarco Murray injured and Willis McGahee on a bye week. Leaves me with just 1 RB on my roster that is available to start this week and even he has a bad match up. I'm just having no luck in this league at all!!! Well, that's not strictly true.... I'm having plenty of bad luck!!!
Had a look on waivers and to be honest, I might have to just play a man down this week rather than drop anyone from my roster just to bring in a scrub that isn't going to do anything. Felix Jones was the only one that would have been worth a punt but I missed out on him

Can't trust the Ravens? What about the 9ers? 27 points one week, 0 the next! Wacky season this year.
