Its actually surprising how poor this one is at the moment...for me the two stand outs are Read and Parisse, then i picked Harinordoquy because he has had some some sublime performances....

Read in my view has no equal currently.
It is difficult to exclude or include Parrise, when you consider the way he plays, he stands out amongst his team mates, so I can agree he is the best in his team, but then when you look at his general attitude of not really getting his support players into space often enough or wanting to offload, it shows limits to his make up.

Before Read we had our own problems in this area. McCaw has license to do what he does now because of Read's contribution. He's had some problems with injury and concussion issues.
Spies has failed to deliver for SA. His injury may be a blessing in terms of finding a more effective alternative. Harsh but true. Palu is a big injury blow for Australia. Higganbotham is better at 6.
Harinordoquy is the pick of the NH for me. Parisse stands out but how much is that due his team mates. I've always thought it's harder to stand out in a good team than in a poor one. Morgan, Faletau, Denton are still growing in the role so they should be given some time.

Like most have said Read and Parisse are the stand outs.
Then it's really a toss of the coin between Juan Lobbe, Harinordoquy, Heaslip and Picamoles.
Lobbe is my other choice just for his superb form.

I went for Read, he is the primary All Blacks ball carrying threat, always makes yards and gets through tons of work and is a very clever runner too.
Harinordoquy, is a very skillfull player and deserves to be in the top 3
Picamoles, what a strong presence he has, his ball carrying is very powerfull and he is also a clever offloader who can unleash try scoring opportunities.
