Does look as if he's sampled a few Argentinian steaks disney.
I always laugh at how a good many people who own sports tops of their favourite teams invariably have the most unathletic bodies.

The Argies can have their steak Biltong. You guys take care of the borewors and we'll sort the lamb.
The Aussies can make the salads inside.

Just don't let the Aussies make the Pav's - they only stole part of the recipe from us and don't know how to make one properly.

And meanwhile the cheaper, more efficient NZ version keeps on delivering day in day out

They're hard these sheep. Comes from said sleeping outside in winter and running away from farmers wearing velcro gloves.

Refridgerated shipping is a pretty cheap mode of transport. And NZ's sheep and meat industries are very efficient. Also the carbon footprint of NZ lamb sold in Britain is virtually identical to that of British lamb because of NZ's (mainly) hydro generated electricity and the sheep living outdoors year round.

Re: Don't cry for me New Zealand
What cheeses me off is that Britain gets the best cuts too. You won't get quality lamb cuts in NZ in a supermarket that's for sure-and you won't get a good fresh cut unless you pay top dollar at a good restaurant.
Don't get me started on the price of dairy.

Or if you grew up on a sheep farm Disney
Though actually we generally ate mutton - rather elderly mutton at that. Not as tender, but loads more flavour. And Dad wouldn't slaughter a sheep until the previous one was eaten, so you got plenty of exposure to different cuts. Mum didn't enjoy cooking chops in those days, so we invariably got to a point where there was nothing but chops left and had them for dinner every day for a week.

Re: Don't cry for me New Zealand
I love the comeback NZers give to Aussies for calling us sheep shaggers (which is kind of the pot calling the kettle black as a they have more sheep and b they're the ones with the criminal records-ever think sheep shagging could be a reason they were sent over?) We say yeah we shag them, then kill them and cut them into pieces, before sending them to Aussie where you lot eat them.

I'm amazed how this thread stopped being a rugby theme to become a matter of international food and livestock

You know what, it's the Australian outback sheep farmers I feel sorry for, not a cliff for miles.

It's those hidden gullies they need to look out for.
Unless they're in Lightning Ridge but that's cattle country and another story in itself.
