Week 1 discussion thread
Seeing as no one else has started one (surprisingly!) I thought I would get the ball rolling with the first thread of the season.
Who is staying up tonight to watch the Cowboys-Giants? My currently unemployed ass is loving the opportunity to watch the game with no guilt about having to wake up early tomorrow, so I will definitely be watching! As much as I dislike the Giants, I almost have to hope Eli does well this year seeing as he has ended up on a number of my fantasy teams, and seeing as I have never really liked the Cowboys, I'm going to be rooting for the Giants tonight
Prediction - Giants by less than 7

Good work Bambam! Unfortunately I'm just about to turn it in and go to bed so won't see the game. I've got two young kids who will show no respect for the first game of the season and who will mercilessly get me up about 6.30 regardless of whether I watch it or not. As a Skins fan, I can't root for either of these teams at this stage of the season so I'll just be checking the score in the mornin.
Prediction - Giants by 3
I hope you get some company up here for the game!

What the hell was Cortland Finnegan doing just now? Please don't tell me that was his attempt at an English accent

Cowboys offence has looked decent, despite the woeful offensive line. Romo has made some good throws, all 3 receivers have made plays and Murray got a big run or 2

Cruz having a shocker, Romo cutting up the Giants secondary as he should with the guys out there atm. Most impresses with Cowboys makeshift o-line holding up well in the 2nd half.

Good win for Dallas, bit of a flat performance by the Giants, but I wonder how much of that is down to the cowboys defence. Claiborne looked really good in the 2nd half, Nicks didn't get a look in!

Nicks was double covered for most of that game.

Excuse me while I tie this block to my ankles and fall off this bridge........
What's that?.... We're playing the Bucs next week? Thank God for that.
On a brighter note, in my time as a Giants fan we only win the Super Bowl after starting 0-1. So swings and roundabouts really.

Re: Week 1 discussion thread
Dallas did play well and I think they wanted it more than the Giants after losing the division to when on the last game of the regular season last year.
The Giants look like they were suffering for Super Bowl hangover. I'm sure they'll improve as the season goes.
I definitely don't think the NFC East will be the walkover some 'pundits' are predicting for the Eagles.

it's amazing what a good Secondary allows you to do, as well as run game with Murray finding his rhythm in the 2nd quarter the Cowboys could close the game out something they have not previously been able to do. The control of clock in the 4th quarter was something to behold.
Also kudos to Romo even with all those holding calls and penalties he still manged to score an all important TD.

Re: Week 1 discussion thread
Giants just looked like they didn't want it enough in the first 3 quarters of the game. I was impressed by Dallas, especially their secondary. I raved about Claiborne as much as anyone but their safety play was better too. That being said, I don't think the Cowboys were great, just better than a sub par Giants performance

Maybe a bit, but its hard to deny they put in a good performance against the Giants. I do agree that it is a bit early to go overboard though

He's says he is playing for sure. I imagine all this does is up Ben Tate's carries slightly. Foster will still get plenty

Doubt he gets plenty, not against the Dolphins. Miami's so bad and Houston's so good that the Texans should have pretty much wrapped up the game by some point in the second quarter. At that point, I imagine they'll sit Foster for the rest of the game, no point forcing him to play on a less-than-healthy knee when the game's already won and there's a quality no.2 who you can put in instead. If I had to make a not-really-bold prediction, it's that Foster doesn't get a single carry in the second half today.
Re: Week 1 discussion thread
Do you guys prefer to watch a game or watch Redzone with all the early games?
For the early games I prefer to watch Redzone, even if the Pats are playing, because I love to keep up to date with it all

I'm a Bucs fan more than an NFL fan, so watch their game. I will watch highlights of other games on NFL.com. Got Madden today, have to try and avoid playing it until next week. All- Ireland Hurling final making it wasy at the moment!

I don't mind watching a game, but with the early games I would rather watch the Redzone because I do hate all the adverts all the time, and with so much going on I feel as if I am missing out

Re: Week 1 discussion thread
I generally watch Redzone for the early round of games unless the is a Packers game (again assuming its not blacked out on Gamepass) or some mega game that I feel I should be watching.
For the late games redzone sometimes gets a bit thin on the ground, especially during bye weeks, so I tend to focus on the first half of the best looking game and then go to bed and wait for the recording of SNF on Monday evening

Right, I've benched MJD twice... I'm waiting to be stung by a poor Rashard Jennings performance!

Wow Dave that is risky. I can see MJD going for 100 yards against the Vikings for sure, he will get 20 odd touches for sure.

I would rather watch 2 full games, but normally end up with Redzone at 6pm then the late game in full, thats the case today as I can't see the Colts-Bears being very good

Another TD pass for RG3!! Loved the play on that drive where he extended the play with his athleticism and then made a 20-odd yard completion. This is very unsettling for us Redskins fans...... but I like it!

In other rookie news, Tannehill is doing average.
Has made some nice enough throws but fumbled an early snap and now has 2 INTs

We might be up 20-7 but I still don't think we'll win this. A 13 point lead isn't much against Drew Brees. I just can't help feeling this could be glorious failure for us tonight.
