things on hold with the move , wife and kids involved in car smash ( they are all ok thank god ) but cars a right off

jeezus... are they at home? So many bad accidents here recently.

They are all home now , kids were fine (thank god for car seats ) Missus had a couple of days in hospital shes got back spasms so got to have physio

It was a terrible day , i laughed when the wife wanted a Volvo but im grateful now . But why do we pay cr insurance ? we had a great car with a full service history that if we had sold it privately would of been worth 3 times what we are going to get as they will only pay the book price

Cheating baastards. It's like flood (or fire) insurance - they'll take your money and then when something goes wrong and you have a claim - there will be something in the fine print which excludes the 'full' insurance payout.

My car is finally starting to get lots of expensive problems... I need to look at replacing it soon. It has served me very well though.

He's a GM at Volvo , so they get lots of part exchanges in . I couldn't afford a new Volvo

yes he can get us one for about £40,000

Yeh but i couldn't justify that for a car , and if i could then it would be a liitle sporty number

I just heard that it's 30 years since they introduced random breath testing here in NSW. I remember I had just got my license and went to this party on the northern beaches. On the way there the cops were on the northbound lanes (we came from the north so missed them); when we left they were again on the opposite southbound lanes stopping people.

Yes it is , i went into one of our local sports shops the other day to buy my lad some footie boots and was recognised by the manager . He gave me my first real job in another sports shop when i was 17 !

The old ankle high ones with the long laces. I used to almost cut the blood circulation from my feet. Makes my 'achievements' on the field even more remarkable.

Then, in the late 70s those fluorescent Adidas ones came out with the low-cut style. They were space age technology for that time.

i remember my first boots with bright orange screw in studs i loved those boots

Those studs were all over the field. It was a horrible feeling when they got loose and you had to keep screwing them in with that little spanner device.

yeh and to try and get them tight you always ripped the thread to bits or those three little grooves on the outside tore up

What about the Umbro kits? They were that funny slippery material? Kids nowadays have so much better gear.

Kits were awful back then , i remember really liking le coq sportif Aston Villa and Southampton shirts from about 1982 ish though

Just when i thought things were looking up , i went to the shed today and some Muppet has broken in and nicked all my fishing gear !

Including all my Dads old stuff

Cops have been and looked about and are going to contact all the pawn/secondhand shops to see if they get anything in but not hopeful

They always do. When I was married and living in an apartment in the city we got robbed. Exactly the same thing happened... they said chances are slim we'll find the culprits (it was an inside job... 36 storey apartment tower) and the mess they left was a sight to behold.

Got a phone call today from them saying they will be sending round PSO to talk to me about security !!

PSO? Police Security Officer?

no one of those plastic policemen ,they are like helpers or something they wear a uniform but cant actually arrest anyone or really do anything

So you just make them cups of tea and chat about security?

yeh then they arrange for someone to come down and replace all your locks and add extra ones .

Is it a high crime area where you are or just a one off?

usually good around here , but there have been a couple of garages and sheds broken into the last week or so
