He probably had a ghost writer. I saw him play a few times as a kid and had his 'footy card'. Can still taste that gum and see this kid shuffling through a huge stack of cards when trading!

Found out last year that the makers had never released two super cards that were supposed to be available so you could never complete the set

That's nasty. They were about 5c for 3 cards + gum in the 70s. I think they are about $3 these days.... and no Zac Oleanik!

Remember when you gobbled down that gum you'd get that sort of painful air bubble sensation in your cheeks and eardrums?

we used to have this stuff called Anglo Bubbly , it was a hard pink bubble gum in a waxy twisted wrapper . That stuff made your cheeks hurt

yeah, we had something similar. In big squarish pieces.... like a chunky big centipede in segments. Jaws would ache for ages afterwards.

That's getting like Singapore. you never see kids kicking a ball there in the open spaces. the council is too scared that parents would sue if they fell over.

Re: The Reaction Game
I just saw some kids in a park near here. There's hardly any interesting things set up. Only a sandpit and a few log type things?? A tiny A-frame thing. Did you have those wooden turntables which used to spin around? They were great. Considered too dangerous these days.

There's this plastic single circular seat (like a flat toadstool) in the park near here. Doesn't spin (I don't think) it looks fixed!

Maybe there will be a wave of kids with bent backs and poor eyesight?
I was shocked when a mate of mine told me his 2 y.o. spends about 4 hours every morning on youtube. Almost as bad as us, right?

Oh my! Stickle Bricks!!!! I'd forgotten all about them! Wonder if you can still get them? Might have to investigate that, my niece and nephew would probably love them, me and sis certainly did!

Re: The Reaction Game
I was thinking exactly the same thing. I hope they're not banned for being too stickley. Good old plasticine is another one. I'm sure they have stuff you can eat nowadays... or prevent tummy aches in case of accidentally having a nibble.

Re: The Reaction Game
Excellent! Maybe get a couple of buckets?
I remember everyone (back in '71) wanted the stickle bricks first and if you did something bad (i.e. me... on one ocassion) you lost your rights to them for an hour or so.

Re: The Reaction Game
Just discovered they were first invented in the year I was born
Oh the stickle brick deprivation punishment! that was mean! Kids today just get time on the naughty step
I think I may need to buy an additional bucket to keep at my house... for when the kids are over... obviously...

Re: The Reaction Game
yeah... good idea. Only 6 buckets left it says but more on the way.
Those cuisenaire rods... I found them at Mum's place a few years ago. Now they are on my shelf. Remember them? Good for learning how to count - colour co-ordinated balsa blocks. Also, you can start with the 10s at the base and build an Eiffel Tower type structure.
1. white
2. Red
3. mid Green
4. Pink
5. Yellow
6. dark Green
7. Black
8. light Brown
9. Indigo
10. Gold-Brown
Different colours shown here.

Mine are from 1968 in a plastic box with white base/grey lid.

There is one (white) cube missing. I think I can make a new one (match as close as possible).
