You could argue that Cole hasn't been the best LB in even the Premier League for the last couple of seasons.

It's a very competitive position in the league, when someone as good as Cole is not in the top 2 or 3

I think we should start a campaign Weir to win it. What he has done in the last couple of weeks is phenomenal

I'd pick Andy Murray or Mo Farah

McIlroy has had a remarkable year too - but I think he will have prolonged remarkable years and can win it again. Mo probably has this chance only and I make him favourite.

Here's the odds with Paddy Power.

Everyone stick on David Weir and then we can start a campaign...

B Wiggins 5/4
M Farah 9/4
A Murray 5/2
J Ennis 8/1
D Weir 20/1
E Simmonds 35/1
R McIlroy 100/1
C Hoy 100/1
S Storey 100/1
B Ainslie 200/1
G Rutherford 275/1
V Pendleton 275/1
J Kenny 275/1
L Trott 275/1
A Brownlee 275/1
J Terry 475/1

300/1 is definitely worth a punt.

I'd have thought Wiggins was a shoo-in for the award before the Olympics and USO, but now both have happened he may be less nailed on.

Peak for peak, and on pure ability, I disagree with that.

And it doesn't really matter.

Goalkeepers carry so little influence in these leagues that unless you have the rest of your team perfect, having £30m tied up in a keeper is just plain daft.

Sodhat has Guillermo Ochoa who plays for Ajaccio, quite honestly if you get a lawyer for him id sell buy a keeper then improve the rest of your squad

I agree with you Afro, for me there's nothing to separate the pairing.

Communication = Buffon
One on one = Casillas
Leadership = Buffon
Decision Making = Buffon
Distribution = Casillas
Penalty saves = Casillas
Reflexes = Casillas
Anticipation = Buffon

Basically Buffon is smarter, Casillas is more agile.

Hey! Guillermo is a great keeper, he's almost certainly their best player and worth a fair amount of the points they get each season.

But equally I imagine many people have never seen him play and it's not cost me points either!

I agree, although in Sod's defence, I think Ochoa is a really good keeper and I am amazed he has stayed with Ajaccio. He should be at a CL team.

You could sell Casillas for £30-£35m (or even swap him with Nadz for one of his top players!!!), and bring in someone like Sirigu for £11.5m.

Sirigu would have as much influence on your results as Casillas, but you would now have an extra £20m odd in the bank

I was going to bring Sirigu in myself not long ago, but I held off to use the money more constructively.

I've yet to see a comment state that the keeper kept the team in the game.

I don't think I've ever seen that comment, neither do you ever see a comment stating the keeper costing them the game even when they're reduced to playing a reserve keeper that in RL hasn't played a game in over a year (such as Afro playing a Fiorentina reserve v me once and despite me making a huge deal about it in my tactics no-one fluttered an eyelid).

Yeah, people have played 19 year old kids that have played barely any football and no one pays any attention to it. Not that I think they should, generally speaking a keeper can only do so much.

Italian international, second choice behind Buffon. PSG keeper.

At £11.5m, one of the best value keepers you are going to get in this game.

And Hero, that was because my tactics were so good, my defenders protected.

Incidentally, Neto has played a few times for Brazil since then

My tactics are going to focus solely on protecting my goalkeeper, and how we plan to exploit the opposing goalie (in a football sense only...although I could play Ched Evans up front...)
