Think about this one.
I have often wondered about whether certain players will do better in other positions, I not really talking about utility players, but rather players who is playing in specialist positions.
We had Craig burden who played in the backline and has become a hooker for the Sharks.
But think more about international players who could use a season in club rugby and then improve a position in your national team at another position.
For SA I have long believed Pierre Spies has the physique to be a centre. He has played schoolboy rugby at Wing, he has lots of pace, he has a strong run when he gets in the open, and a good handoff, his problem has always been that he doesn't have the low center of gravity for close quarter combat and his position is far too upright, when you look at clips from him, he is much more spectaular in open play than tight play.
So who could change from the back line to the forwards or vice versa for your national team?

sorry mate, you have to pick either.
It is either prop or hooker. Back must go to forwards, forwards to backs.

Vito could play in the backs. SBW could play either obviously having done so in league.

Re: Think about this one.
Phillips would make a decent back rower, and I'd love to swap him to 8 and Powell to 9, but sadly we wouldnt notice a difference!
I'm a lock who has the odd game at 9 and 13, does that count?
Gethin Jenkins always talked about being a back, and has a cracking skillset, if only he hadn't spent all those years bulking not sulking!

Re: Think about this one.
Justin Tipuric to 12. He's got great handling and awareness
Aaron Shingler to 12/Wing. Rapid and he's massive as well
Jonathan Davies to 7. Low centre of gravity, strong in the tackle, good hands.
Jamie Roberts to 8. Fast and Big, Nuff said. He'd probably be like Spies though
George North to 6/8. Rapid, low centre of gravity and massive

Think BOD would make a good 7.
The battering ram that is Tuilagi at 2?
Tom Croft at 14 (well, he's always out there...)

Just a rumour Ive heard from friends across the puddle to the west was that in Thomond they used to throw ROG in at hooker in his younger days to toughen him up a bit (not sure how that would go down in todays game)

Only at club level, he never really stepped up on the international scene

Re: Think about this one.
BOD must have one of the best turnover rates in the history of the game for a back... he would be a great openside.
Gibbs would have made a great prop, as Guscott said, "fastest prop in world rugby".

Brits could be a full back. Although he pretty much plays there anyway for sarries except for when there is a lineout or scrum.

Knew some comedian was going to mention the Bergamasco incident
Shingler to wing is an interesting shout taking into consideration his size, acceleration and ability to slip tackles.
