Anybody else reached the stage....
Where they look forward to a good domestic battle.....than a World title affair from abroad(give or take a few names).......
When I see a British champion.....most of the time I see a truer champion than a wbc, wbo etc.....
Certainly attained a "higher" value in the last 10 years and rightly so the British belt!!!!!!

Burns vs Mitchell is a pretty good scrap if you ask me.

Oh aye Truss, definitely happens from time to time. I was far more excited about and interested in Murray-Mitchell last year, for example, than I was for many other so-called 'world title' fights in 2011 (which must go down as a truly horrible year for the sport).

Re: Anybody else reached the stage....
Yeh 2011 was a terrible year for boxing...though 2012 has been just as much a stain given the goings on with stuff outside of the ring...
Lets cross our fingers that last weekends highly entertaining fights continue and controversy is avoided (though this weekend looks almost certain to bring some in one form or another)...
As to the OP....I don't know about the likes of America but I feel that the British domestic boxing scene is the best out their. It isn't just this year which has thrown up some cracking battles....I think that because fighters are clawing to make a name for themselves the will & desire to not only put themselves in tough matches but make them exciting is much higher....
Those who don't have the Olympic reputation...or the WORLD stablemate...seem to have a bit more fire in their belly early on in there pro career and this makes for some exciting contests...especially due to the fact they have to go the harder route if they want to make it/make a living.
For anyone who didn't see it I would implore you to go watch the Chris Evangelou and Danny Cassius Connor fight from last weekend which was on the under-card of the Bellew fight.
A real battle of attrition & heart...not to mention some fantastic boxing skills mixed in.
I'm hugely looking forward to the Burns v Mitchell fight...should also be a cracker.
I remember when SKY showed the Friday Fight Night/School of Boxing which was purely domestic shows from around the country. They often threw up some really cracking bouts.....bit of a shame they did away with it really.

Did the missus put out or is this a thinly veiled wind up? Too many pro Brit comments I've read from you recently.

I'd suggest going on the last few years experience...
More likely to be the latter observation...
I'm a Brit now anyway.......in all but name!!

Re: Anybody else reached the stage....
When a pro starts their career on these shores, the Brit Belt is seen as the first major milestone which is probably the best feeling ever. Once the brit belt has been done then its normally when the snakes appear and move you around the meaningless WBO Intercont, WBC International, IBF Intercontinental garbage.
Plus the Brit Belt looks ace!!
Pity Khan never wanted to hold it. Only british when it suits him.

Bruno didn't go off to America using the race card though...in fairness!!
Khan has a lot to be grateful for..after all even DelaHoya had to wait for the title before he was ppv...
The race card wasn't used then either I'm sure..
Reborn's comment has a lot going for it..

Definitely on a wind up.....
Don't really like Khan but I think Warren and a massive PC British press pushed the race thing. Doubt Khan would have many ppv hits if he was fighting in the USA on Saturday.

His comment was perfectly valid.
Much like you suggesting the GB cycling team are dirty and the Jamaicans are not.
I cant for the life of me think why you would come up with such an illogical argument.

Re: Anybody else reached the stage....
Of course it is valid to you.
Many are accusing JA sprinters of doping because they run fast and break records. Team GB cycling cycle fast and smash records out of sight.
Why don't the same argument apply?
Anyway Khan didn't fight for GB title. Neither did Brune. Does it make either less British?

My arguments are consistant. I think drugs are rife in sports...
You on the other hand think GB are guilty and the Jamaicans are innocent. Why is that?

Agreed. I watched virtually no boxing for the first half of 2012 due to becoming disillusioned by the awfulness of 2011. The awful fights, the awful decisions and the supposed good fights that turned out to be let downs or farces, and the fights that just never happened, plus Sky following itv away from the sport and the advent of primetime and BoxNation - a truly depressing time to be a boxing fan.

Because if you knew anything about the sport you'd realise that for the first time in decades the peloton now controls the race. Gone are the days when a guy can break away and do the superhuman.

Because not a single JA trained sprinter has ever tested positive for roids. Johnson (JA born), Christie (JA born), Mullings (US trained - Gay's training partner) all busted. Otte )Europe trained) busted.
Why do you think te JA guys are juiced?
Anyway this isn't boxing.

Because in the Olympics there were teams of 5 not 9.Everyone knew it was cavendish's race so no one worked with the Brits as they usually would. Aussies had someone in breakaway pack but the gutless Germans did Poopie all.

Quigg v Munroe was shaping into a gem until the damn cut!!
Hope that fight gets made again and carries on where it left off prior to the cut.....
Khan is only british when it suits him, even our Irish brother Barry had a soft spot for the Brit Belt
