It wasn't really 'home town' but RVD winning the WWE Title off Cena at One Night Stand 06 was as 'home town' as you'll get

well depends how you judge it, as in the match being good or the crowd reaction etc.

If so Goldberg winning the WCW title in Atlanta i thought would be higher crowd was mental when that happened.

Goldberg winning the title from Hogan in Atlanta was immense, it also somes up how stupid the morons running WCW were to announce the match a few days before on Thunder, and to have the match on Nitro. Apparently Goldberg only found out when he was at home watching Thunder.

Probably would have been one of the highest selling PPVs of all time, if it had been built up properly.

That was the problem with Bischoff's mindset in 98, he was so consumed by the ratings he'd rather pop a big number than make $2/3m on PPV, if that transpired then the chances are fans would have switched on to Nitro the following night anyway to see what happened/the aftermatch

Austin V Rocky WM 17

Austin was that over with the crowd that the attempted heel turn bombed.

(Ok not technically home town but if you can count bulldog's win at Wembley then u can damn sure count this)

Kerry von Erich winning the nwa title in 1984?! It was in front of 40-odd thousand in Texas on a memorial show to his dead brother!

That was an electric atmosphere, the David Von Erich Memorial, Parade of Champions I think it was called, inside Texas stadium

I thought we were sticking to WWF/E to be honest, I'd include the Von Erich's vs the Freebirds in a 'Loser Leaves Texas' match, that atmosphere was hot as hell!
