Would a win for Fury against Chagaev be a better win than anything Haye has at HW?

If the proposed fight between Tyson Fury and Ruslan Chagaev goes ahead in November, would a win for the big man be better than any win David Haye has achieved at the weight? Obviously Haye would have achieved more by winning a title, but Chagaev schooled Valuev, who I believe is Haye's best win.

Beating a guy previously splattered by a KBot who is clearly on the slide would still not compare to Haye's (fairly poor) record at heavyweight. I'd argue the Chisora win is a better one for Fury, even if he was a tub of goo for that fight.

Tend to agree that he wouldn't have risen to the dizzy heights of Haye should he win, but maintain that it is a good fight for someone who is still learning i.e. in with someone who has been in with the best that are around even if he is past his best as we all suspect.

Is this fight even confirmed yet? Have heard lots of mixed reports.

Good fight if it does happen, back Fury to win a fairly decent UD.

Not better than Haye's Valuev win though, that Valuev was a lot more dangerous than this Chagaev.

If it happens and Fury does win, then I'd say it probably does elevate him above Haye. Hayes most impressive HW performance has probably been against chisora, who Fury has also beaten (albeit in a more laborious manor). Valuev, Ruiz & Harrison aren't impressive. Haye may have been around longer in our heads but Fury has the more extensive HW career as he's fought at the weight since day 1. Obviously Haye has a world class opponent in wlad on his record, but he lost comprehensively, of all the fighters they have between them Chagaev would prob be no2, so I'd say that would edge Furys career above Hayes HW outings which, in honesty, have been a joke.

To date, Haye is slightly above Fury, should Fury beat Chagaev it slams him right up there as UK #1 Heavyweight without a doubt, regardless of if he'd beat Haye, which I think he wouldn't.

Agree. I actually think a fit chisora would beat fury - he had him in trouble everytime he came forward, but he was so out of shape he couldn't pursue his attacks. Haye would knock Fury out like he did Chisora IMO. But that doesn't alter the fact that a chagaev win for fury puts him above Haye as a HW if only on paper. If haye spent a bit more time fighting and a bit less mouthing off Fury wouldn't have been able to get near him.

Haye probably won't bother taking a domestic level fight on channel five, but seen as he could beat Fury anyway why not stop off in Manchester, knock him out, then carry on with whatever else it is he's doing?

You cant simply take his level of opposition in isolation. You have to look at haye's whole career. The comparison is very unfair.

Its not a joke, it was a good legitimate fight, but Chisora shouldn't have fought Vitali in the first place, he was never in the same league, same applies to Haye.

Fair enough, just seems like certain fighters (Bros K for example) are guilty of nothing whereas others (Haye for example) can't do a thing right.

I fancy Haye to knock fury out if they fought.... similar way the Chisora fight when only slower pace and later stoppage.

No but it would be a step in the right direction......obviously a lot depends on how motivated Chagaev is...

Sometimes like Coetzee and Berbick...ex champions just provide a slab of meat for cash....

Depending on what Chagaev turns up will tell us whether it's a great win or not... and his biggest win ultimately will be the one which secures him a share of the ..

Haye already attained that status....so no this win is incomparable..to Valuev...

even if fury does beat chagaev it does not make him better than haye! Fury struggled against a fat out of shape chisora haye made easy work of a chisora at hes very best which even vitali could nt do ! how can anyone watch fury and think he is better than haye? fury is a terrible boxer and is awful to watch, i have said this for ages now but i would love to see haye take the fury fight and give him a boxing lesson before knocking him out,

no, this chagaev is no better than the version of ruiz that haye fought, a ruiz that was robbed against valuev and a sd against chagaev himself in germany

even if he does win i doubt any of furys wins are going to be as emphatic as hayes. while his reign at heavy has been poor ruiz, valuev, chisora in very clear wins is still better than anything fury has done

just as people forget he was roundly thrashed off Vitali too..
