Bernie wants New engine regulations to potentially be pushed back/Cancelled
Bernie Ecclestone is determined to scrap F1's engine regulation change for 2014.
The F1 chief executive recently visited Ferrari's Maranello headquarters, where he heard the tamer sounds of the incoming turbo V6 engine.
"Even (Ferrari president) Luca di Montezemolo said it sounded terrible and didn't like it," Ecclestone told the Hindustan Times.
The 81-year-old Briton tipped FIA president Jean Todt to "get rid of it".
"I think Luca is also saying we should suspend it for two or three years. I think it is sensible to get rid of it and stick with what we have got," added Ecclestone.

Funny that isnt it. Lewis moves to Merc looking more at the engine reg changes and now suddenly Bernie wants to cancel them.
Just a thought.
But the changes were because F1 was becoming "more green", so now suddenly F1 isnt going "more green"... lol very odd.

You know what will happen dont you. 2014 it'll go ahead then a season later they'll change their minds.
Tired of all the reg changes. They need to come up with a formula and stick to it.

Ironically, changing the engine size will/would have one of the smallest environmental impacts. Its the development and construction of the cars (and their many spare parts), as well as the massive travelling circus the teams need to cart all their stuff around the globe, which accounts for most of F1's carbon footprint.
Speaking as a bit of an eco-warrior myself, I wouldn't object to going back to 3-litre V10s (or at least giving teams the option).
The other idea behind using smaller engines was that it would encourage more manufacturers to get involved, instead of just specialist race engine manufacturers like Cosworth, or the works teams.

I heartily second that!
It would also help if the FIA handled the development of new technology better and decided whether to incorporate it, or not, before the season starts...instead of waiting and seeing if any teams accrue enough of an advantage, to make it necessary to outlaw the tech.
They really need to get some technical experts on board, who could scrutinise teams' proposals for a new device / design feature and decide whether it contravenes the regs. It could be done on a case by case basis, (rather than an open test session or something), so the teams don't have to risk their inventions being copied by other teams, right from the off.
