If Pirlo was English, yes he would. He'd have been Scholes' replacement when he retired. Comparing Carrick to Pirlo is just crazy.

I disagree. He'd be seen as not good enough for England because he doesn't make the driving runs forward and sits deep, in the Carrick mould. And when was Scholes used by England in his proper role? He was always shunted out on the left wing to accomodate other lesser players.

You can't just take Carrick now and bang him in the Spain team of course he wouldn't make it but if he was born in Spain where they encourage his type of play I'm sure he would be a better player then he is now. In England you don't get that type of oppurtunity and they dismiss that type of style. Luckily for Carrick he played at the famous West Ham academy where they produce top players, and the players were good enough to understand Carricks style of play.

None taken. But the difference is, Barry played for England as their best DM (of a bad bunch), Carrick isn't a DM so you can't really compare the number of caps. You would have to compare Carrick's appearances to Lampard or Gerrard.

I would say Carrick and Barry are very much the same role. Barry is a good player, but Carrick does everything he does but a bit better, and would offer balance in the middle. By that time Carrick wasn't at West Ham either, so it can't have been a lack of exposure at club level, it's just England not fancying him for one reason or another.

I don't blame him for saying play me or I'm not going. Why keep joining the squad to sit on the bench at best?

Carrick has been playing as a DM the last couple of seasons for united. He's not like Lampard or Gerrard at all. You don't see Carrick scoring goals and driving forward in midfield so that's an unfair comparison.

It wasn't a comparison on my part, but the 2 CM roles have been going to Lamps/Gerrard, and so I can see why Carrick wasn't being played.

He should have been, to balance the midfield.

I wouldn't class in one particular position. Since January, he has played behind the striker, before that he was box to box and before that, DM.

Equally as effective in all of them.

Was Hargreaves ever eligible to play for Germany?

I thought he was the only member of his family born in Canada because his British parents emigrated before he was born (but after his brothers or sisters were born).

He's the opposite of a traitor because he could have played for Canada by poor chance of where his parents were living at the time be was born, but instead he chose to wait and see if he ended up playing for one of his home nations

He was never actually eligible to play for Germany either, he'd have had to lived there a lot longer and during that time never receive a full cap from any other nation.
He could have played for Canada through Birth or Wales/England through parents.

Or in a British army base in Germany as you can choose any British teams or Germany (which has to be better than France).

Alternatively, are there any British Army bases in Brazil?

I know a lot of people have gone for him on the draft. Is his low TM value a bad reflection on his current form?

I dont rate him. Hes a good prospect. Personally at the wrong club, if Liverpool were in good form and hes playign week in week out his rating would rise. Saying that with the teams we have he should be ok. come mid to end of season I would say get a better replacemnt.
I went for him due to low TM value and hes a prem player who people will see more then a la liga or serie a player due to MOTD and so on.

If Hargreaves had stayed fit, he'd still be the linchpin of United and England. And I doubt that Scholes would have been dragged off his sunlounger if United had a fit Hargreaves. One of England's biggest losses I think.

Sterling's value on TM is so low because until a few weeks ago he was still even a freebie on there! I'd expect it to rise to around 7-8m when TM make their next wave of Premier League changes (same with Cazorla who I reckon will go to around 27m).

Sterling is all pace and no end product. A young Walcott. Until he produces big performances in big games on a consistent basis, I see no reason to value him anywhere near £7m.

Remember how incredible Rooney was at 16? Compare that to Sterling at 17...no question, Sterling has talent, but he is NOT going to be a 100-cap, John Barnes-esque legend of the game. He may be a good/great player in the future, but it's ridiculous the hype he's getting. What has he actually contributed this season? Not much.

The problem Sterling has is that he has created numerous chances that the liverpool forwards have not put away. He has two assists this season but Liverpool have only scored 9 goals. I think it is unfair to call him all pace and no end product. He is creating chances, its the forward line that isn't putting them away.

I think the fact that after 11 games only this season people are so quick to label him for the rest of his career says a lot about the way we treat our players.
The lad is 17. He's got a manager that hopefully will encourage him and harness his talent, encourage him to actually look up unlike so many wingers in the Englan set up prior to him.
Whilst I am not building him up as the English Messi etc I'm also not going to write off his career after a handful of games.

Hell No!! Javo is not that good. He doesnt work enough. Now hes at your club watch him, he doesnt make the runs to get in behind, just sits, waits, gets the ball, has a little run, cuts onto his right, and makes a poor cross. Takes him four attempts to get one good ball in the box.

Ashley Young is IMO the best English winger. He can be fustrating at times but he has a bit of trickery and is more direct than the better ones. Downing is direct but only cuz he poos himself and just kicks the ball towards the box at any chance he can.
I feel bad for Adam johnson, he could of been so good, such a great left foot. City ruined him.
They will ruin Rodwell and Sinclair too. Its like when Chelsea first got money and they F'ed Scotty Parker up for how man seasons, Sidwell and more. City are doing that now.
