606 Closure Date

Afternoon Everyone,

Just to make those of you who still post over the road aware...

606 closure date annouced.

The 606 website will shut down on 26th May 2011 - the shut down came about in order to focus audience's attention interactivity by capturing the conversation around the biggest sports stories and events via different mediums. We would like to thank the current 606 users for all their posts and comments over the years. It is worth stressing that the 606 radio show on 5 Live will continue - and we are considering ways for the audience to interact with 606 on the 5 Live website, focused around the radio programme.

Cheers for that, KB. Suppose I'll have to drag myself back over there to have a last look at some of my favourite articles, so thanks for the heads up.

I was only on the original 606 for a few months and tbh I prefer this one,a chat box,quizzes things like that.Brilliant website thumbsup

I was thinking about joining BBC 606, but then it was announced it was closing. Came on here, and saw how much better it was anyway, with games and quizzes, so joined up. It also seems much friendlier too. Very Happy

I'm just glad the 2 worst posters on the boxing board, shantel & fight news, have either been already banned or can't make it over.

Much better quality than the old board, which wasn't hard with the likes of shah, fn, shantel, fedor and a few others "posting"

We've got a really nice racing community on here.....it's very friendly and we have some really knowledgeable posters.

I would love to see more of the good posters, still on 606 racing forum, joining us after the closure date.

Is that a definite official date? I've been hearing that they will keep a sports forum page open, only one mind that can discuss various topics, that could stop people from deflecting full time on here

Strange choice of date though ..... 26th May 2011?

Two days before Wembley hosts the Champions League Final, and 4 days before the Championship play-off. Doh

.... not forgetting the other 2 League play-offs, now at Old Trafford on 28/29th

Could understand a closure date just, say, 24 hours after a season-ending pick of fixture, but not 48 hours before several. Double Doh

KB, been looking on the BBC and elsewhere and cannot find any confirmation of this date ...

Well i for one am going to miss 606, with no access to ny other 606 alternatives at work it will mean i need to do some actual work for a change.

Even though 606 is dead, it is still fun to read through some classic articles liek when Scott called the sports host hostile... damn it i will not cry... Crying or Very sad
