The way Rooney, Defoe, Welbeck etc play for England, I'd love to see Holt in the England squad. He could not be any worse than that useless shower.

And for your info, I gave Holty two 5min runouts for my England team on my FIFA career. Didn't score, but is definitely better than Welbeck.

Routledge still not made my mind up upon but Sterling I bought before anyone over on the other league and reckon he has more to his game than the next Lennon, Downing etc.

No-one on here has said Sterling isn't good, only that he hasn't done much yet. Which is an opinion that won't change based on a home game against s very poor Reading team. When he's scored 8 goals, set as many up, and done something either in Europe or for the U21s, I'll get excited. Too many kids have played well when first coming into a big team, only to fade badly and drop down the leagues.

Judgement reserved.

Also Sterling I think is quality tbf, but Routledge I have my reservations on. Having seen him a couple of times, in the Prem and Championship, he seems to be very hot and cold

If we're rating players based on potential / media obsession, me and Viva are buying Freddy Adu, Jeremie Aliadiere and Djimi Traore.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating - and all we've done with Sterling is licked the chocolate top.

ALL the answers will be based on potential, because you've limited it to 'teenagers'. Sterling is in Liverpool's first team more due to their lack of quality than on merit. He'd never have started a game at any of the top 6 yet.

Disagree on that, look at the likes of Gotze, his initial breakthrough season he was a huge part in Dortmund winning the league. Muniain was a huge factor in Bilbao's Euro campaign last year. Sterling would have been given the chance at the likes of Spurs or Utd certainly, City had Denis Suarez starting just a couple of weeks ago.

Sterling wouldn't have played a game for Uniteds first team, we have Young, Nani, Valencia and even SAF wanted to change he'd play the likes of Rooney, Kagawa, Welbeck. If Brady can't make the United team and he is a far better player.

Sterling is an ok prospect the only reason he looks better then he is becauses the other winger they have is Downing. Liverpool are at thier lowest and any spark they have looks is made out to look like the sun. I've seen so many players like him haven't made the grade. The current English wingers are below average, pace is all they have, where's the final product.

The last good English player we produced is Rooney look how good he was when he broke onto the scene and now look at the generation they are way way behind him in terms of talent. An look at Rooney, destined to become the greatest but at his best is in the low level of the second tier best players . These English lads who are coming through have no chance.

Have you watched Sterling?

Currently he's 3rd in the Premier League for 'successful' dribbles, has a 83.2% successful pass rate and has created 11 chances.
Yes he the stereotypical burst of speed of an English winger but he also is showing the ability to look up.
Whilst at Utd they have a wealth of wingers Fergie has always been one to give youth a chance and I fully believe that if Sterling had been brought to OT he'd have seen some first team action by now as well. Nick Powell and Phil Jones are both examples of teenagers brought in the past 2 seasons that he's happy to thrust straight into games where he can.

Yes I have watched Sterling play because I have a different opinion I must not have watched him Doh

Moses and Hoilett last season were first and second in most successful dribbles in the league last season but I'm sure they wouldn't make the United team and I'd say both are better then Sterling. 83% is not really a good percentage of passing rate and wasn't David Batty one of the highest passing percentage wise?

Powell and Jones didn't come through the United academy they already had experience at other clubs before the move and were one of the better players at the club. It's not 1995 anymore Ferguson does not trust these youngsters as much, when we had injury why wasn't Wootton given a chance? Will Keane? Pogba? Morrison etc.

I gave you that quip as its what you've levelled at me in the past over certain players so thought Id give it you back Wink

At 83% he'd been I believe 6th place last season in the entire league. Not good?

Moses secured the move to the European Champions off the back of it, Hoillett to what was thought a QPR team on the up when he was getting decent offers from German clubs.

Just think that in this country there's no middle ground on new talent, theyre either the English Messi or written off after 10 games. I rate Sterling highly based not just on what Ive seen so far this season but from what I've read on him over the past 3-4 seasons, from those in the know rather than us armchair experts he's thought of as being a mercurial talent that will continue to grow and flourish.

Thought of by Liverpool fans, not by general fans/media. He's seen as a good kid, who puts the effort in, and is likeable. No-one, besides you, is kidding themselves about his current ability nor his career projection.

No-one on here has written him off - no-one - but I'd rather have Nani/Valencia/Nasri/Milner/Silva/Lennon/Bale/Oxo Cube/Walcott/Mata/Hazard/Pienaar/Mirallas all ahead of Sterling. Based on what each player brings to the team, not on any other criteria.

I'm a professional statistician, so I could easily produce stats that beat the kid down - but I won't, because he's deserving of a chance.

I will say though: he's nowhere near as good as Steve McManaman was at 17.
