Aye indeed Kwini, that's where I have a little bit of a niggle with banning the belly, Ernie & Freddie and other 40 plus plus ers, ok they've got there because all else has failed (relatively speaking). Whereas the likes of Bradley have gone straight to the failed old man route from college, is there a case for banning it on regular tour but allowing on Senior Tour? Then what about the amatuer game, should a line be drawn there? Somehow it would just seem simpler to ban throughout and outlaw completely.

We have just put in a V shaped piece of metal on the edge of all our bunkers, so you can leave the rake in the middle of the bunker but the handle rests on the V shape on the edge. It appears to work well.

Keegan's pre-shot routine squirrelly, but obviously works for him. I don't think he's actually slow to play, however.
I'm not for the long putter, no problem with me if they ban it.
Oldpar -- now that's something I've never seen!

Re: The hot topic in golf today
Would the likes of Bradley have ever made it to the tour or even to pro golf with out the longer putter?
If the answer is no, then surely the long putter is devaluing the one part of the game that requires the most skill under pressure "drive for show, putt for dough"
(not that Adam Scott is any proof mind)

Rakes should be left in the middle of bunkers so that they dont stop a ball going in. In my opinion they must be raked. There is skill in getting out of a bunker but if you land in someone's footprint it usually doesn't matter how much skill you have! And Super, the Irish on here will have to come to terms with your negative opinion of them crushing as it may be.

Welcome Hemmingway,
As far as the rake is concerned, do whatever you do at your club, but leave it anywhere in the sand in the US and you'll likely be given some terse directions as to where to put your rake next time.
Really surprised that's it's convention in some places to leave the rake in the sand . . . . . .

Convention at our course is to put the rake out of the bunker on the far side from the direction of play. That way it is less likely to deflect the ball into the bunker and the ball is more likely to go in the bunker rather than hit the rake. However, I don't think that the majority of our members know hwat the convention is!!

Didn't realise Bradley had such strong views on the rake in/out of bunker issue.
