Coaches on the Hot Seat
All but gone at this point:
Ron Rivera: GM who hired him is fired, new GM will likely want his own man, and Rivera hasnt exactly done a sterling job.
Pat Shurmur: Read above (replace GM with Holmgren, then owner)
Andy Reid: Firing the DC during a bye and potentially promoting a 3rd round rookie to start arent the moves of a coach secure in his own skin.
Romeo Crennel: Pioli's probably getting canned, and Crennel is an awful HC.
Feeling the Heat:
Rex Ryan: Is his job tied to Mark Sanchez? Tannenbaum also a candidate to be fired so Ryan's seat is getting fairly hot.
Norv Turner: I'd say hes all but gone, but the man has sticking power on par with Steve Kean. Shouldve gone last year.
Ken Whisenhunt: Cards have fallen apart after a 4-0 start, the OL is horrible.
Jason Garrett: Terrible game management costs the Cowboys repeatedly, and offense has regressed since he became HC.
Warming Up:
Jim Schwartz: Moved himself down this list after the Lions are clinging to life. Needs to take control of his locker room.
Joe Vitt: Call it a hunch, but he won't be the Saints HC next season

The lions GM has done a terrible job imho. He's drafted thugs and distractions for the last few seasons and now Detroit is paying the price.

I don't understand how Tannenbaum has a job still at the Jets. He has recruited literally nobody on offence to help Sanchez.
Rex I can see staying, he is a good HC imo, but the GM needs to go

Move Norv up a tier, Whisenhunt is getting close to it also.

Agreed.
Norv is a gonner.
I wonder if Wisenhunt will get one more year given he got them to a Superbowl... provided he drafts a QB!

You have to look at it and ask what is he bringing to the team? Horton's defense is the only reason this team is competitive.

I mean... he has been terrible this year.
The defence is the only positive because there wasting Fitz away with shoddy O-Lines which lead to no run game and no time for decidedly average QBs to throw...
However, He got Arizona to the Superbowl... it shouldn't have happened and I just see them keeping him for one last shot under the premise that he must go after a QB.

Hes already basically gone for his guy in Kolb though (who struggles when under pressure, good evaluation there). He'll probably get another year though since its Arizona.

I'm hoping the Skins can win out (or at least in the division) and guarantee Reid loses his job. Hope Garrett keeps his though, else the Cowboys could get someone who knows what he's doing...

9-7 isn't going to see Reid keep his job.
We can only hope Garrett and Shanahan keep theirs though.

Aw, that's harsh! I'll be honest, I actually don't think that Shanahan is doing a bad job. Would make zero sense for the Redskins to bin him this season.

Re: Coaches on the Hot Seat
Quite a strange post, criticise the O-line but say he could stay if he gets a QB? Surely his top priority should be fixing the line, a rookie quarterback won't make it through the season behind that line and could easily mess them up for the future.crazy_dave23 wrote:I mean... he has been terrible this year.

There's FA and other draft picks to do something in that area to help as well...

Re: Coaches on the Hot Seat
Trying to matchup jobs.
Andy Reid seems pretty likely to head home to SD.
Should Whis be fired, Arizona might stay within and promote Horton, though I think Arizonas a better spot for Andy Reid and Juan Castillo to resurface.
Dunno who would replace Shurmur, figure Banner would sound out a few old Eagles coaches including Marty Mornhinweg.
KC and Carolina its hard to get a read on until they hire a GM
As for the Eagles, I'm like them to target Jay Gruden or Mike Zimmer, Chip Kelly would be linked. Maybe biased but I'd think its a better prospect than the other options.

Kiffin is aboslutely on the hot seat, know little about college ball but he has some unreal talent (I'm not really including Barkley in this, he will not be too successful in my opinion) but his WRs are better than full NFL rosters!

Re: Coaches on the Hot Seat
Whisenhunt is a good HC, but shouldn't have been given control over personnel (Rod Graves is the GM but is primarily involved in contracts) -- he's made a mess of the QB situation. Kolb could be a good QB, but he's always being hurt after running for his life. If they don't draft any O-linemen in the first three rounds (again!) to protect whoever is going to be chucking the ball, my head will explode.

Re: Coaches on the Hot Seat
I'm not a big fan of changing coach after just one year but I think if Oakland go down to the Browns next week then Allen may find himself under pressure, especially after the boos at end of the game against Saints the other week and Mark Davis publically announcing his embarrasment of the performances in recent weeks

Re: Coaches on the Hot Seat
I think Allen will be safe, a lot of talent had to be purged for cap reasons and the Raiders gave away their top pick.

Stopped reading at #1. Being Jerruh's patsie or a real job.
(And the Cowboys roster really isn't that good)

I think Munchak has proven he isn't good enough, way too passive. And with guys like Locker, CJ2K, Washington, Britt, Wright ,Cook etc, I'd love to see a good offensive mind

Chance Shurmur is currently saving his job with these few wins, plus there's a potential win against the Chiefs, then if the offense shows up against the Skins who knows what could happen.

Re: Coaches on the Hot Seat
Lovie Smiths seat is warming up as the Bears collapse.
Chargers and Andy Reid seem matched already.
Seen reports that Roseman loves Chip Kelly and has already met with him.
I'd imagine Bruce Arians is in line for a shot somewhere after his interim duties in Indy and developing 2 QBs

Re: Coaches on the Hot Seat
I think Lovie Smith is gone even if we win the superbowl this year!!!! Not that I see that happening. I can't believe we've gone from 7-1 t0 8-6!!! So annoying, and his record again Green By is pathetic. TBH we need a clean sweep at the bears closed season, Head Coach, Offence Coach and some of our older players all need replacing. oh yeah Go Bears!!

Re: Coaches on the Hot Seat
In 1 weeks time we'll see how right I am.
So with 1 week to go:
Last Week in charge:
Andy Reid
Norv Turner
Romeo Crennel
Ron Rivera
Pat Shurmur: Still think hes getting the boot
Mike Munchak: Late entry but the Titans have been horrible. Owner didnt give a rave review this week.
Could go either way:
Ken Whisenhunt: reportedly staying if every staff member involved with the offense is fired
Rex Ryan : Again, seems like he might survive an offensive purge
Mike Mularkey: Gene Smith will be fired, MM might get off now hes rinsed his hands of Blaine Gabbert
Lovie Smith: Could go either way depending on whether the Bears make the playoffs. Miss and hes done.
Could be worried, but shouldn't be:
Dennis Allen: The Raiders have the worst roster in the NFL thanks to Al Davis. No short term fix.
Won't be worried but should be:
Jim Schwartz: The Lions have some bad apples, but Schwartz has done nothing to rein them in.
Jason Garrett: Category of good coordinator, bad HC. Cowboys seem to be alive in spite of themselves
Marvin Lewis: I have no idea how hes lasted this long.

Marvin Lewis is the Bengals HC right? Can't see what the problem is there, 2 playoffs in 2 years and a young developing team!

More to the point that hes kept his job despite doing nothing for a long time. Hes been the HC for what, 8 years or so with no playoff wins.

4/6 on my will be gone so far, with Rivera likely to follow. Didnt think gailey would be canned given his work with QBs, Munchak just survived.
