Renaming Murrayfield?
Just saw a wee feature on BBC Scotland news about the possibility of the SRU renaming Murrayfield to tie in with a corporate sponsor and earn some much needed wonga. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/20128230
Now nobody likes this sort of thing, but I guess it's the sign of the times, with Ireland playing in the Aviva and New Zealand now sporting AGI on there tops.
Now if you could chose a sponsor to come in and have the stadium name changed who would it be and why?
I'd love for Fairy Liquid to step in, so we could rename the stadium as "Fairyfield"!

Love it.
Re: Renaming Murrayfield?
Haha, I thought it would be quite good if former kit sponsor Murray was to do the deal, and thus we could sell the name and still keep it the same!
Re: Renaming Murrayfield?
Don't have a problem with put naming rights up for grabs. It will bring in much needed money and the fans will still know it as Murrayfield!

Ireland still play at lansdown road imo
But I'd have no issue with it (Murrayfield) being the RBS Stadium for the right price

Shortly after the Haka, it will always be WorryField.
Presumably with the new experimental law it'll be HurryField.

I don't come to Scotland vs. NZ games to watch Scotland, I come to watch NZ.
Every other time I watch Scotland play anyone else there is always a chance we'll win. Not against NZ though. Our boys have no chance.

Re: Renaming Murrayfield?
Judging by the current economic situation it will probably be the
'Cash for Gold arena'
or the
'Have you been sold PPI that you have neither wanted, needed or asked for? stadium'

Re: Renaming Murrayfield?
On a serious note, I'm eager to avoid the situation that occurred with the Cincinnati Reds baseball team when I was a kid - Riverfront Stadium's official chilli was Skyline Chilli, while the TV coverage was sponsored by Gold Star Chilli. As a result, all the Skyline logos around the stadium were blurred out on TV.
You might have guessed that chilli is a big deal in Cincinnati.

Jesus, what was I thinking? On a serious note

So that would mean any banking firms are ruled out as the ground is used by Edinburgh and Scotland so RDS and Rabo would both be ticket if they were advertising a rival company, also all drinks (bar Heiniken) are ruled out because of the HEC (and maybe full stop for the frog tv).

A terrible oversight on my behalf. Yep, that's much better.

Re: Renaming Murrayfield?
What they want is to secure sponsorship after a lengthy and expensive internal tendering process, and get the sponsor in just in time to (a) rule Murrayfield out of hosting 2015 matches (b) need to be scrubbed of sponsorship to meet IRB reguilations, requiring the SRU to pay expensive reparations to the sponsor.

If they renamed Murrayfield all funds should go towards Edinburgh getting their own stadium
