How did United fans rate/like him?

For Everton, he was by far and away our best player at that time. The fact he scored twice in a derby game helped too.

That is what I would say ZZZ. At the time, it was always considered as Vieira v Keane. I don't remember Scholes being considered as part of the battle. I could be wrong, but that is how I remember it

I'd take Zidane almost every time. Phenomenal footballer.

I'd say Zidane too, a much better all round footballer. It's why I prefer Ronaldo > Messi, due to Ronaldo's versatility and the fact he's left his comfort zone and broke records elsewhere.

But back to Zidane, the guy was a genius. (I mean the real one, not Nick Wink )

Zidane or Iniesta?

Still Zidane

Iniesta can do it all too, but Zidane was so mercurial. I don't think there is a side in world football that wouldn't be improved by Zidane being in it, no matter which player he replaced.

Messi, Ronaldo, > Zidane

Zidane was a very good player but I think these two have raised the bar to the next level. I loved watching Zidane play and how he could make things look so classy and efforltess but these two are on another level to him.

Probably Messi out of those. Even though Zidane is still the best I've ever seen, Messi is the best in the world right now. Iniesta is tied with Ronaldo for 2nd in my eyes.

I'd disagree actually.

Zidane > Messi > Ronaldo is how I'd view it at the moment.

He won everything there was to win, he did it with class, and he headbutted a man in the chest in a World Cup Final.

I think I agree with Viva on this.

I think Zidane was a special player, but Messi and Ronaldo seem to stand out in teams of players who in their own right are considered to be the best in the world

I would also like to point out that because you play for a team that is challenging for the title every year rather than someone challenging for fourth doesnt have any influencr in how good a footballer somebody is.

Probably Ronaldo as an out and out winger. But Zidane could play anywhere across the midfield and get forward, that's what made him so good, and makes him a better footballer than Messi and Ronaldo, who are both better than Zidane in their specialised positions.

Yes it does Olly, the pressure on the players is compltely different. Man Utd lose one game its a crisis, Arsenal lose 3 in a row its expected. The mindset of the players is also on another level, one has the mind of the champion the other as a loser. When I look into a player being good it's not the physical side but also the mentality.

Arsenal would be a 4th place team with or without Wilshere they have proven that but I dont think Liverpool would finsih in the top 4 without Gerrard.

That first paragraph is some serious wumming Viva. You say Arsenal lose 3 in a row its expected Laugh Look how they are now they are in crisis because of a couple of losses.

So all the footballers at Man Utd are better footballers than ones at Everton/Fulham/Newcastle etc etc? That is what you are implying

I don't know if that is true any more. The style they play means Gerrard is more replaceable, and it's seemingly Suarez they can't do without these days.

But if we're talking top-quality players, that's an easy one. BatiGol.

I saw chatbox was on, but I was posting on my phone because my laptop was taken up by the Raiders game while I watched the Steelers/Giants on the TV.

Seems like it, they beat a very strong Giants team even with some questionable referee calls going against them.

They will make the playoffs from here I think, their divisional rivals are falling apart a bit and Big Ben is having a great season to boot.

But if we're talking top-quality players, that's an easy one. BatiGol.

Just a poor mans Carlton Cole, Azzy.

Batistuta had everything. A shot from hell. Movement that would make Ronaldo cry with envy. Eyes in the back of his head. Never knocked off the ball by a CB. Could really head the ball. If on;y he could pass it sideways for 90mins, he'd really have given Scholesy a run for his money as best player of the 90s.

Where had he been? Ultimate Team?

I saw chatbox was on, but I was posting on my phone because my laptop was taken up by the Raiders game while I watched the Steelers/Giants on the TV.

I love Sunday nights.

He was in self induced exile to concentrate on school work.

And Ultimate Team.

You should have come on Soddy. There is always good banter going among the AF lot. We have even have a new saying due to Doug Martin's crazy performance. Make sure you are on for the draft next year.

I bet it had something to do with spelling Laugh

Doug Martin can suck my balls. He ruined a previously good run defense. We need to draft a pass rusher, corner, and run stuffer in the worst way.

Right, i'm working with my boss imminently, so that's me for the day.

Don't forget to get your cup votes in by tonight, and i'll try and calculate them first thing tomorrow.

I loved Batistuta. I remember seeing him smash a goal past Arsenal in the CL group stages at Wembley (they played there for some reason). It was around the time that I could see Serie A highlights on C4 on Saturday morning. Still the best football show ever...

But he was not in a team challenging for honours

Got this from a very well informed football fan, who knows a footballer when he sees it. I believe if Viva knew who it was, he would respect the opinion.

I asked about United fans and Scholes.

It's hilarious, they have such a hard-on for the guy. All he does is pass it left, pass it right, pass it left, pass it right, crunch an opponent, get yellow card, pass it left, pass it right.

The reason he looks so good is that Fergie has installed a good team ethos and always made sure that the man on the ball has two options - triangle football at its best.

At his peak he was a fantastic player, but all he does now is pass it to Carrick, who fluffs it. Waste of time the pair of them
