SPOILERS BELOW
Hit and run case, found the knife and accused the widow- she batted me off. Played it wrong. Cornoner gave me the inside track though and I nailed 'em in the end
Just finished that one. Excellent writing and acting.
I really like this game. It's slow moving, but it's really atmospheric and feels authentic. The facial thing is really good but it's sort of obvious at the beginning. I'm guessing witnesses and suspects get a bit more poker faced as you move up the game!

Re: LA NOIRE
Ouch... I've been on this a bit this weekend. Just done the case detailed above and I'm well into the next one. It's a pretty gritty game, well presented but with a few holes.
Like when you drive into something in the car, there's about a two second delay before your partner shouts "LOOK OUT!".
Also, I'm noticing that when a great amount of detail is required during a car chase, the framerate slows quite a bit.
However, this are just minor nit-picks in what otherwide is a terriffic game so far...

Re: LA NOIRE
Yeah, I had a great physics glitch. I walked towards a door, hoping to open it, only for my character to clip into the side of the house and end up on the roof. His hat fell off and ended up stuck on the roof. Spent about five minutes trying to get it back
It's a fantastic game but it's definitely for a 'mature' audience. They've captured the hardboiled film noir style perfectly! Acting and voice work are way better than I've encountered on a game before.

Absolutely amazing game. Slow to start off with but picks up as it goes, some of the later cases are amazing, been promoted/demoted to the Arson desk, 5 cases to go i think before i finish and start achievement hunting.

At the start it seems a bit one dimensional...cases are similar and so are the streeet crimes. Hopefully it will pick up once a play a little more.

Re: LA NOIRE
Completed it the other day, and as a fan of film noir absolutely LOVED the ending! And the game. Sets a new standard for storytelling in games imo. The new facial animations help that a huge amount.

Re: LA NOIRE
I must disagree with you Notch, I found the ending to be rather disappointing. It is a fine game and one I would recommend to most. Even if it does go Investigate > Question > Action rigidly throughout the whole game.

This game is brilliant but there's is a lot that can be improved, not got time to go into detail just now, but the driving for a start.

That's a good price. Going to wait till the next two DLC come out (Nicholson Electroplating and Reefer Madness) come out before trading in/selling the game.
Wonder if they'll release anymore DLC hopefully for the Homicide and Arson desks as they were my favourites.

Recon the DLC will be expensive for this? If it is, I'm just gonna flog it.

Re: LA NOIRE
Don't think there are any other endings which is why I traded it in. Once you have played it you know how it ends and pretty much how all the cases will pan out as well.

Each DLC case costs 320 microsoft points and their are four of them.
I decided to purchase the rockstar pass which includes all four DLC cases, 2 extra suits and a weapon for 800 microsoft points.

If anyone is planning to play DLC then the pass is the way to go, i'm getting sick of waiting for it though, the fourth one isn't out until July 21st.

Re: LA NOIRE
1. It’s a Rockstar game, so storyline and characters etc are hugely important
2. The graphics are immense, the animation for the characters is the closest ever seen to real life.
3. It just feels right, immediately you can get into it, it builds slow but just at the right curve to keep you involved.

Re: LA NOIRE
The scored is excellent, the voice acting is superb, you will recognise some of the actors if you're a series/film enthusiast, the story is very well done.
I really enjoyed it but I found the ending to be a bit of a letdown.

Re: LA NOIRE
A game that does a lot of things well but nothing great is what sums up LA Noire, so much potential and it just fails to hit any of the high notes. Its a very solid game and the type of game that should be used as a template for future games.
The motion capture technology was the one stand out performance in the game and is definitely a great step in the right direction. Essentially the game is far to easy and no where near as clever as the developers though it would be. To much leading by the hand and simplistic puzzles that seem like your doing a Jigsaw except you've picked up the one aged 8-9.
Then again simplistic gaming is not just a problem LA Noire suffers from, you just have to look at the hype Uncharted has received to see where the gaming industry is failing.

Re: LA NOIRE
Got promoted to VICE a few weeks ago, but haven't played it since. I think a truely great game should keep you engrossed till then end. I have never really felt that strong urge to play it like I have with other games. I'm not really sure why either. One thing I do know is that I really hate the travelling from one place to the next. The driving is nowhere near as fun as in GTA or as on horseback in RDR.

Driving was a major drawback in the game. Didn't really notice anything that could be classed as a "puzzle" except the maze...and I hate mazes

The maze was horrible. I must have spent at least half an hour trying to get to the middle of it. I kept ending up on the outside no matter where I went!

Re: LA NOIRE
I got this for Christmas 2011, and was really looking forward to it...but the slow start, plus poor driving mechanics, led me to putting it aside.
20 months later, and I am in love with this game! The searching for clues bit is time consuming, but you have to do a good job for your interviews to go well. I have to say though, it's much harder to read people's faces on a game than it is IRL.
About halfway through the game now, then I can get onto the DLC

Re: LA NOIRE
I liked it initially but it just turned into such a Dragon's Lair style game (please let someone else remember that game) with it feeling a lot of the time like you were watching the game rather than participating in it.

I don't remember that game, but you're right, it does feel like you're incidental to the game rather than part of it. Perhaps that's why I'm enjoying it so much?

Re: LA NOIRE
Dragons Lair was insanely difficult. You basically had move the joystick at the exact nano second to get the response you needed or you were dead. It was at least £1 per go when arcade games were around 20p per go.
It was a proper cartoon.
