its disgusting- the family is overweight.. they should not be eating that sort of food ever! the fact that they even ''like' that sort of food is a big problem.
the mother said she was raised on it!
That is there stock spaghetti dish!
Jamie oliver needs to be sent to that family- its an emergency i tell ya!

You're right re. the spaghetti, butter and TK. It's not great but it's not as bad, nutritionally, as is being made out. As I said before, if they ate that occasionally, what's the issue? If they eat it every day? That's another matter.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Indeed Oakey, it's not a job I would want to do, but it's not always easy to tell if someone is depressed or is even suicidal (Welsh manager for instance) so unless the nurse actually seeks help, it's very easy to not notice underlying problems, can't blame the hospital for that. Probably everyone has colleagues who are secret drug users, functioning alcoholics, depressed, problems at home etc without anyone noticing.
Just because you are a nurse in a hospital, doesn't mean someone will automatically pick up on your mental health, especially in this case as everyone employed were obstetrics professionals and not psychologists. Many of them probably know no more about it than any of us.

The thing I don't understand is why the "Queen and Prince Phillip" would be calling at 5:30am and why Kate might have been awake to take the call at that hour?
Fair enough golfermartin. I think I got that the wrong way around.
There seems to quite a few assumptions on here that Jacintha was depressed. Even if it were so, I doubt that kind of information would be put into the public domain until at least after the post mortem. Seems to me it could just as easily have been down to the culture she came from being instrumental in tipping her over the edge. Perhaps the shame and humiliation of being duped was in itself enough reason to commit suicide?
Incidentally, I think it's a big assumption to make that Kate would have been asleep. As for the official announcement that she is now "resting", I rather think that's pushing reality as well!

"There seems to quite a few assumptions on here that Jacintha was depressed."
All i can say is if anyone is assuming she wasnt at least cliniclly depressed then that is the asumption, you do not comet suicide unless you are very down!!.
I have sadly known 3 friends do it!! Theres allways signs- and you run over in your mind about what you could have done to have stopped it. It is offcourse pointless..
There is no way on this earth that someone would commit suicide unless there is underlying problems.. Sorry i just wont buy that.. tell me this culture you are refering to gael!! I now that the japanese can be very hard on thereselves if they got sacked from work etc. But even with them it only happens to the fragile and very clinically down-snap suicides dont exist!
BTW there is another explantion.. Ayone wanna suggest a conspiracy theory??

oakey ... so I'm supposed to just accept your word on this, am I? You'll be telling me next you're a clinical psychologist?
I'm merely offering an alternative theory as to why she may have committed suicide.

Psychological condition of nurse: purely conjecture.
Officials of the hospital blaming "human error": totally unjustified, unless it was by the management of King Eddie's.

why do you have to accept it?
You have your own mind surely!
why the heck would i say i am a clinical physcologist- this isnt rocket science!! its kinda very very obvious stuff!
you clearly stated that there is as much chance of her coming from a culture where the embarrasement would be enough for her to top herself- I asked what this culture is?
If you cant answer it then i cant accept your opinion has any validility!
you have clearly stated you dont buy the fact she was depressed(crazy talk but there you go!)

that's priceless! no, it's not rocket science, we've managed to conquer putting rockets into space, we're a long, long way from understanding the depths of the human mind.
there are, broadly speaking, 2 types of depression - chronic and acute. they are defined as their names suggest, chronic being long-term, acute being brought on very suddenly by a traumatic event.
ha, i'm still laughing about your post. brilliant.

I still don't see under what circumstances forwarding a hoax call would result in a suicide. Acute, Chronic or otherwise.

If people routinely killed themselves at something as trivial as this without some sort of underlying issue then no one would make it past 10 years old.
I sincerely doubt that such an "event" as this would bring on "acute" depression and force a suicide.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Basically the problem is - people want to blame someone for this tragedy..
Its ludicrous that people need this blame when these things happen..
Oh no she wasnt depressed. Or she was but it was just brought on by this mistake and thats other peoples fault!!
Time to wise up peops...
If this sort of thing can affect the person to that extent there is 100% issues with that persons existance.. I am not suprised that her co workers and friends have explained that she was a quiet lonely person!! it just backs this up..
Again this situation isnt rocket science-(btw if anyone didnt know thats a discriptive expression) and the comment does not mean that the human mind is basic!!!
Btw yeah i completly agree with you SR!

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
It usually ends up with Guardian types blaming the Tories somehow, basically the same as Godwin's law when an argument deteriorates someone gets called a Nazi. When you can't blame someone, blame the tories.
If this "event" hadn't sent her over the edge than something else trivial most likely would have been the straw that broke the camel's back. Clearly she had issues, people just don't kill themselves over stuff like this.

Thats a bit rich Super, your default position is to blame anyone who reads the Guardian for the woes of the world !
Mind you I totally agree with you on this subject, everyone can blame someone but ultimately none of the things that happened should have resulted in a mentally well balanced person taking their lifes. In the grand scheme of things its a storm in a teacup, approx 10-15 people will have killed themselves that day, her case is no more or less tragic than any of them.
She either made a crazily over the top reaction to something that would have blown over quickly or she was a very ill women.

Not sure I ever blame the Guardian for the woes of the world, merely blame it for being the source and or poorly circulated mouthpiece of peoples preposterously liberal and politically correct, professionally offended views.
The funniest thing I've heard yet though is that the suicide may have been a cultural response. (Last time I looked she wasn't a sixteenth century samurai)
I've seen the DJ's are devastated about it, I think they are being too hard on themselves, this situation was completely unimaginable and they are, in no way responsible for her death.

Imagine if the CEO of Teds topped himself, or one of the DJ's.....then we could blame everyone who blamed them for their deaths. And so it goes on.
I think the DJ's might be devastated for the deaths of their careers....

As I eluded to on my first post on the issue, it's the increasingly rampant culture of recrimination that's developing in this country that's becoming quite alarming. For any given event that the media latch on to, they feel the need to whip it into a frenzy and seem to have a great lust to find a blame figure (to hell with consideration for people's feelings, reputation etc) and hey...the growth of the story is way more important than any relevant facts...when did we lose balanced reporting?

Many of us do have minds of our own Digs and we've all got our own different mixture of cynicism, naievety experience etc. some much more so than others. You're right, the media do tend to get blamed for a lot of things which perhaps ain't directly their fault but I suppose that comes with the new territory of trying to make the news rather than merely report it.
Anyways, I'm at Heathrow waiting to get a plane out of here, to a warm relaxing golf holiday and a fresh perspective.

Being of a certain age, my musical influences formed in the early 90's. to see Dave Grohl, Krist Novolesivic and Pat Smear play again together is great, but with Paul McCartney on vocals. Seems a bit strange.

Poor Bode can't do anything right!
A line drive is a baseball term for a ball hit hard, low, which carrires a fair distance - you could say Tiger's stingers are line drives, but it's that sort of shot. Wouldn't like to get struck by one, that's for sure.
