Don't be a plank. There's nothing semantic in what I've said. You always say I'm arguing semantics when you don't get what I'm talking about!
You're right re. the spaghetti, butter and TK. It's not great but it's not as bad, nutritionally, as is being made out. As I said before, if they ate that occasionally, what's the issue? If they eat it every day? That's another matter.

its disgusting- the family is overweight.. they should not be eating that sort of food ever! the fact that they even ''like' that sort of food is a big problem.

the mother said she was raised on it!

That is there stock spaghetti dish!

Jamie oliver needs to be sent to that family- its an emergency i tell ya!

what really puzzles me is when i see folk who are elderly and retired, shopping at 6pm on a weekday evening... when i'm retired i'm going to take advantage of the quiet times of day, not get in the way of those who have just finished a day's work and are trying to get home to their family for dinner and time with kids before bedtime.

I saw that too Jas, and as much as Morgan is a loathesome creep that the American's are welcome to, he does make an excellent point.

Seems that the freedom to free speech only exists should everyone else agree with your opinion.

Important to remember that most Americans are in favor of a significant restriction on automatic weapons. And that group is getting bigger every day. (Remember, too that most Americans voted for Obama.)

I agree with Morgan, but know that he loves all the publicity this stunt is generating. Those who are so vocal about never limiting gun rights typically have a financial interest in the game (either directly or back door funding).

Thing about America is that there are simply too many guns already in circulation. The horse has already bolted. However introducing a sensible gun licence approach instead of being able to buy them over the counter with a bag of sweets couldn't be anything but a good thing. Although these Emo/Goth types who love a high school shooting will simply raid their parents.

Much of the problem is the American psyche. Switzerland has a higher gun ownership per capita than anywhere, yet this doesn't happen there.

Piers Morgan right for perhaps the first time in his life.

But I like Jeremy Clarkson's comment that Britain doesn't want Morgan back. Clarkson on the money too which makes a very rare daily double.

The tiny little town that Mrs Kwini hails from only has one claim to fame - one of the bigger gun factories in America, manufacturer of these evil Bushmasters, and now getting pilloried in the press.

I'll be there in forty eight hours, snow permitting.

Something completely different:
I love this stat from last night's Football coverage:

Leighton Baines has 27 goals and assists in the Prem since August 2010.
No other defender has more than 17 in that time!

Think beautiful is stretching it a bit Mysti but they are certainly playing well, certainly in with a shout of 4th but need to keep everyone fit to manage it.
Baines number of assists isn't a suprise, he's a very good player and takes an awful lot of Evertons dead ball deliveries, plus as they do set up quite defensively he does have a license to bomb on knowing that the cover is usually there, he pretty much played as a winger for most of last night.

I think it probably was Sky, it's annoying how agencies report stuff as if it's their own story except that it's lifted from somewhere else. No idea how old the film is, or whether he was just saying it to placate the over sensitive Leprechaun 's

All a bit sad really when the worlds most talented golfer feels he has to opt out of his sport's debut return to the Olympics for fear of upsetting one side of a divide that's supposed to not exist any more.

The whole peace process thing might have worked but there's not much in the way of harmony when honest genuine guys have to make decisions like this out of a fear of upsetting/alienating people. Hope the people (from whichever side) that think it would have been a issue if he hadn't chosen the side they thought he should feel really proud of themselves. Like I said...all very sad.

Don't let all the Woods zealots hear you calling McIlroy the worlds most talented golfer...they'll issue a Fatwā

Sad indeed - but it's called the peace process because it's an ongoing thing, and setbacks are to be expected.

yeah well tbh he is probally making the right decison- and dont think its just due to the british/irish thing here.

Most of the pressure put on him has probally been from the yankie press..

When he was initially asked he just looked confused and said well Britain as if it was obvious.. since then speculation built up and its kinda ridiculas.. but the oylimpics is nothing to a golfer in truth.. But on the other hand it may end up being the biggest thing an englishman will win in decades!!!!

I watched it (it's an ok programme but doesn't really reveal anything new or astounding). On the Olympics front he said he had 3 options - play for GB, play for RoI and don't play at all. He said he was still considering all 3 options - and by including the 3rd option, I think he was more trying to show the level of seriousness and gravity he attached to the decision.

Pathetic indeed, but only somewhat less pathetic than naively thinking sport and politics are totally divorced?

See Gary Player being harangued on the golf course during the Apartheid years. Or Cricket, Football and Rugby tours to South Africa being banned during the Apartheid years.. oh no wait, that was the UK attempting to use sport as a lever to impact the internal politics of a totally separate state. My mistake.

You do realise that jumping in at every opportunity to bash the Irish actually puts you on the same level as Inco's slavish idolatry of Woods, Gaels curmudgeonly rejection of anything new or perceived to impact the environment and Mac’s .. well Macishness? You do see that right? Rise above it.

I think the apartheid thing is a little different than the Irish situation. The whole situation regarding the flag at the moment is absurdly ridiculous. In fact the whole Irish situation is laughably stupid and petty

I've not heard a single person from the UK who would begrudge McIlroy if he decided to play for Ireland, yet there have been plenty of people from the Irish side who wouldn't want him to play for Team GB. Considering it an "offence".

Isn't it them who should rise above their petty insignificant politics?

Of course the assumption being made by all is that Rory will be in a position to be an obvious selection for either side. 3 years is a long time in golf!! Anything could happen.

Clearly pressure has come from the Oirish side as his first instinct was that he would be aiming for British selection, now he's not so sure. My own view is that he should be able to compete for who he wants and that decision should be completely unencumbered by political pressure.

Quite surprised McIlroy didn't bat any suggestion off until he was actually in a position to be selected. As you say Oakey, it's a long way off and he might not even be in the top two "Irish" players by that time.

Anyone would think Coco was the first person from NI to go to an Olympics...hello Rory, lots of people have done it before. its really not that big a deal. Just grow a pair and make a choice.
One things for sure, years of procrastination wont help. Others have said on here before a lot can happen and he should wait, I dont agree, the sooner he and other NI golfers declare for whoever they want to represent the better. There will be a lot less fuss in 2016 if he makes his choice clear now.

Why should the suggestion be that he needs to grow a pair? He's grown up in a place where peacemakers have only recently gained the upper hand over a small minority of tribal bigoted nutjob who thought bombings, shootings and kneecappings were a valid method of making a point.

Neither side has a "right" to demand his loyalty and/or force his hand into declaring that loyalty now. He's a golfer not a politician.

Neither side has a "right" to demand his loyalty and/or force his hand into declaring that loyalty now. He's a golfer not a politician.

Makes you wonder why he would want to represent a country with people like that.

Jas throughout the troubles scores of sportsmen have made a decision to either represent Ireland or GB, whats the difference with Rory making exactly the same choice in far less volatile times ?
Of course neither side has a right to demand his loyalty, thats why he should simply say who he intends to represent should he be selected and put the matter to bed for the vast majority of people. Banging on about it only inflames the situation and he doesnt even achieve anything by not going as either party could still choose to be offended by his fence sitting.

I did most carefully insert the phrase "small minority" as I'm sure the vast majority of the NI people are not nutjobs and were themselves heartily sick of the bomb & gun ruling their country/province.

I kind of see where you're coming from Diggers and maybe he should just declare for Britain and be done with it. By the same token though, he shouldn't be condemned if he doesn't yet.

I sincerely hope by then we don't have the ghastly situation where there is a Scottish Olympic Team.

I dont think he should be condemned for it Jas, I just think its a poor decision on his and his advisors part. The debate is not going to go away but it will become more intense the closer to Rio we get, he can largely defuse that now if he chooses to.
Saying something like I might not go as I might offend some people accomplishes diddly squat as chances are he will end up going. And if he doesnt go what kind of statement does that make, that the scenario in NI is still so bad a guy cant go the Olympics....even though plenty of others in the same position will make the choice. Thats just bizarre and helps nobody.
All he is doing is drawing more and more attention to the subject right now whilst appeasing no one.

It is strange when there are so many people from NI who can play for both yet have come out with who they hope to play for.
Not sure why Golf (as GFat is at it too) feels the need to have a (buckled) shoe in both camps?
