Don't be a plank. There's nothing semantic in what I've said. You always say I'm arguing semantics when you don't get what I'm talking about!
You're right re. the spaghetti, butter and TK. It's not great but it's not as bad, nutritionally, as is being made out. As I said before, if they ate that occasionally, what's the issue? If they eat it every day? That's another matter.

its disgusting- the family is overweight.. they should not be eating that sort of food ever! the fact that they even ''like' that sort of food is a big problem.

the mother said she was raised on it!

That is there stock spaghetti dish!

Jamie oliver needs to be sent to that family- its an emergency i tell ya!

Saying something like I might not go as I might offend some people accomplishes diddly squat as chances are he will end up going. And if he doesnt go what kind of statement does that make, that the scenario in NI is still so bad a guy cant go the Olympics....even though plenty of others in the same position will make the choice. Thats just bizarre and helps nobody.
All he is doing is drawing more and more attention to the subject right now whilst appeasing no one.

I do tend to agree and in my humble opinion I think after he had stated his original decision he has come under fire/pressure behind the scenes from the Irish side which has brought things to where they are now. That's my hunch and if correct then that's pathetic on the part of those putting pressure on him not to compete for GB.

I am not disagreeing with you here but merely asking, as I know little of NI sport, who else in such a high profile position has had to choose between Ireland and the UK when it comes to competing in the Olympics?

As for the idea that Rory wont be in a position to compete in the olympics that is ludicrous for at least two very obvious reasons. He will easily still be the number 1 player in the world and if not there are really very few irish players likely at the moment who look like getting in the top 20. In fact only gmac and rmac are in the top 50 at the moment.

Is there an irish superstar waiting to break through that I dont know about?

Mac, Mcilroy could quite easily get an injury and suffer a Nine Chins/Westwood style ranking slide or he could eat himself and suffer a Michael Campbell style implosion. He might also be usurped by players from UK, The Republic or NI, depending who he chooses to represent. GB if he's got any sense.

Who knows, he might even get death threats from petulant children like Neil Lennon did and decide not to play for either.
He only has to become the number three player from either nation and he's snookered for selection. Given its three years away its perfectly possible. You wouldn't have thought Nine Chins would have gone from 1 to 60 odd between 2008 and early 2011 but he did, McIlroy could quite easily have his own fire hydrant situation/scandal Maybe he'll lose all his focus because he's so wealthy now. Also it's not just about rising NI stars. Its about all golfers from the Emerald Isle as The Republic and NI contain players eligible for The Republic.

We just don't know Mac, other than it's ludicrous to suggest he's guaranteed to make either team, and hugely disrespectful to other GB, NI and Irish players. Isn't that the same mistake the US make by offering Nine Chins constant RC selection like what Watson has just done?

Christ, can't believe I'm paying respect to Harrington, GFat, Lowry, Maybin, Hoey etc, but it's perfectly possible they could prevent him making an Irish team, while Donald, Westwood, Poulter, Rose etc could potentially keep him out of a GB team.

i do kind of agree with you.. i mean for team gb he could easily be the 2nd -6th best player , but for Ireland I very much doubt it, as you say only gmac could topple him.. but then both are uk citizens as well...

But to add to your point and getting to the crux of the matter..

Uk lottery funding added us getting so many top athletes last year.. People in the UK can take a living wage to train if they qualify.. It doesnt matter if you are from london or NI you can receive your funding.. If someone from NI takes the funding they will be a Team GB player..

When it comes to golf this is clearly irrelevant.. The golfers earn more than that in one tourny... As would a tennis player or a football player..

The irish will argue that golf in Ireland is like Rugby...(by the way the same issues could happen with rugby 7's players). It inculdes ireland as one- so some Irish people think because Ireland golf worlks as one(amatuer golf in ireland includes all of ireland- so an irish county may play another county match v a Nirish county)

What many seem to forget is that the NI (part of UK) aids the GUI(golf ireland) as much as the ROI does.. And all benfits the families recieve in NI are subsidesed by the rest of the UK, tax is paid to the central UK fund , but tax credits are paid out from it as well...

Is Rory the golfer he is because of the Irish system or the UK system.... Its a debating point i suppose... But lets just leave it down to him and hopfully the Irish wont put unwanted pressure on him.

Probably more of a problem in the backward west coast. We're a bit more civilised and enlightened on the East coast.

Where did you shop before mysti? We tried dropping down to Aldi / Asda, but reckoned we'd end up doing 2 shops a week as there's quite a few items that are not so good, so ended up just going Tesco for convenience. Don't really buy much in the way of brand names anyhoo, so Asda is wasted on us

i also tried out morrisons(great value) but i really dont like there stuff. like cold meats and veg!

Tbh over november december i was shopping way to much in marks.. Which should only be an occasional treat imo!

tesco and sainsburys i rank as the best by far. Sainsburys for value and quality and tescos fopr pretty good aulity and amazing choice.,

Waitrose is just high quality stuff- but i never buy the shower gels or washing powders and all that in there..

Not sure if this is nationwide, but I can now get a free cup of tea or coffee at my local Waitrose across the road every day if I so wished (with their loyalty card thing). Not exactly a huge incentive, especially when considering prices of goods (but to be fair, quality as well) tend to be on the high side, but a nice touch I think.

Its the difference in the check out staff that get me. In the Waitrose in Surbiton it was all predominantly polite white people, either semi retired or college kids who were obviously told they had to be ultra polite. Was a very diferent experience going to the Tescos on Acre Lane or the Somerfields on Stamford Hill where you would be lucky if you ever got eye contact from the staff.

NI issues don't deserve intelligent comments Mac, they deserve derision and mocking. Until the population of that place start behaving like grown ups, they shouldn't expect intelligent comment. To earn respect, you have to show respect.
