Don't be a plank. There's nothing semantic in what I've said. You always say I'm arguing semantics when you don't get what I'm talking about!
You're right re. the spaghetti, butter and TK. It's not great but it's not as bad, nutritionally, as is being made out. As I said before, if they ate that occasionally, what's the issue? If they eat it every day? That's another matter.

its disgusting- the family is overweight.. they should not be eating that sort of food ever! the fact that they even ''like' that sort of food is a big problem.

the mother said she was raised on it!

That is there stock spaghetti dish!

Jamie oliver needs to be sent to that family- its an emergency i tell ya!

Yeah I'll give you that, she does have a cute face. I struggle with lard myself, hell I even trim the fat off bacon before I can eat it.

I have "taken one for the team" a mates girlfriends mate but no, in no hurry to repeat. I'd rather go without but each to their own I suppose.

That Alex Jones moron is a well known crackpot. He's a fully paid up member of the tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy remedial societyl. He's quite often on British radio, where he is always routinely ridiculed and all he can do is shout people down.

Much as I hate Piers Morgan, he was right to take the reserved line with this utter tw@t. Jones came out looking the idiot in this, but sadly there is probably a sizeable portion of America who believe he's right.
Why anyone needs an assault rifle is ridiculous. The only guns required are a shotgun/rifle for hunting. Other than that there is no need at all.

Mysti - Don't be fooled by the overwhelming loud idiots in the US that think any gun control is an infringement on their civil rights. Super is saying what the majority (absolutely from my circle of friends/acquaintances and from every poll I read as well) of people in the US feel: There should be an all-out ban on assault rifles.

I always mention to the paranoid nuts who start spouting the "Second Amendment" BS why stop with guns? When that was written, they didn't specifically exclude cannons. Why not allow everyone who wants one a low grade nuclear device? Rolling Eyes

Another thing I'm sick of hearing is "gun's don't kill people, people do" from the gun lobby (or rappers do, if you're Goldie Lookin' Chain)

If that were true, how many people would I kill if I stormed into a school armed with a turnip?

Even if I went in with a samurai sword, I couldn't kill as many as if I went in with an arsenal of assault rifles. I'd be over-powered.

s_r, Shotrock,
I attended a City Council Meeting on Monday that included a proposed a ban on assault weapons, mega-ammo clips etc within City Limits.

Public Forum, yes there is some democracy in America, usually comprises about 15 comments at most, might last twenty minutes. You should have seen the performance on Monday night, every wacko coming in from the hills to defend their rights to bring semi-automatic weapons to Starbucks (yes, I'd ban Starbucks too) if they so wished. Went on forever. Very frightening in an eerie sort of way.

Fortunately the Council resolution passed handsomely.

As Roger Waters might have said:

"You have a natural tendency
To squeeze off a shot
You're good fun at parties
You wear the right masks
You're old but you still
Like a laugh in the locker room
You can't abide change
You're at home on the range
You opened your suitcase
Behind the old workings
To show off the magnum
You deafened the canyon
A comfort a friend
Only upstaged in the end
By the Uzi machine gun
Does the recoil remind you
Remind you of sex..."

Unfortunately, it's not only the older wackos. Good to hear sense won out in that instance Kwini.

Is that from the pros and cons of Bushmasters?

nbs thumbsup
The actual discussion which ensued the public forum focussed much more on mental health than firearms and, if nothing else comes out of all this ongoing rhetoric, it's likely that "background checks" going forward will be far more rigorous. The "Gun Lobby" here is a dangerous and powerful thing. Completely alien to most non-Americans.

I'm not sure how true it is, but I have heard that there are more guns per capita in Switzerland that the USA. If that's true, do they have the problem the US has and we just don't hear about it? That can't be the case - we heard about the Norwegian nutter. So it must be something in the US psychy (is that how you spell it?)

well the swis are all sort off army trained. As switzerland doesnt have an actual army itself. The citzens act like one if needed. they all carry a rifle about..

the pschy of that is surely a massive difference. However dont think switzerland dont have issues- they may not go around murdering each other in the same numbers with there guns- But they do have a big suicide rate with the guns they carry...

I just read that lance was part of a mafioso type conspiracy in cycling. That they would threaten anyone that suspected the doping . and that he had a specialist make up lady to allways hid his arm wounds from the injections..

If it was that bad i am kinda speachless to be honest

Are they trying to suggest that the riders in second didnt dope?

I would imagine it's going to dominate the latter part of the weeks sports pages. I remember reading fairly recently that when they initially decided to strip him of his titles they looked down the list of placings on one of the years in question and they had to go about 7 places down to find somebody allegedly untainted. Think thats what made them decide just to leave all those titles "not won".

So yes, he did wrong and yes he had me fooled for years. There are some now ripping into him for confessing.....so what should he do? continue to lie and deny? The fact is he and a significant proportion of the peleton (certainly most of the contenders) systematically cheated for years. That cannot happen without a LOT of collusion and blind eye turning. If he is now deciding to open up and out everyone else that supported the massive cover up then he should be given every encouragement to do so.
